They're just mechanically divided from the rest of the game, and socially too, when you consider Vox: stupid little autistic birds that are expected to roleplay in every capacity without the rest of their crew and twiddle their thumbs away doing self masturbatory trading projects like the games on Baystation with their magic hydroponics that just manifest garlic and no-fruits out of nowhere. But despite that if you ever hurt one, you can guarantee that the station is going to hell in record time.
And god knows it's not shitcurity that keep them in line, it's the threat of a ban hammer slamming down on the cunts if they step out of line even a little. What is a fun easy job to have when you are quite new?
Roboticist is the only thing I can do (Altough I don't know how to build things besides robots parts, upgrades, exosuits and circuits and I'm at loss when someone ask me to build a remote robot console or whatever) but I'm too slow to be useful when I'm not the only one roboticist so it's awkward when there isn't another one and I can't keep up enough to really help.

Well it's something. Adds +2 corn oil which is almost worth 3 nutriment, which is substantial if you need to fill a hungry crew up fast (like a latejoin chef). For instance, you can get ~4x as much nutrition value out of a potato if you turn it into fries then fry it.

Most microwave foods add substantially large amounts of nutriment, usually 4-5, to the sum of all the parts. For example, a microwave pizza will always give more nutriment than a cargo pizza because the cargo pizza JUST gets the base bonus for the completed food, but the microwave pizza is the sum of all component foods + the bonus.

Also several microwave foods have extra benefits. Just one example, the most famous is probably Vox jam they can make out of woodapples, contain hyperzine to let them go fast while in their suits.
