Because the game isn't as easy to mod, and harder to roleplay in, so there's less people interested in making anything substantial for it. Not to mention the PC has a voice for some reason so there's a bunch of awkward silence when the player speaks to a voiced NPC and can't say anything back.

you'd have to somehow integrate it into the already existing, already pro-voiced game for it to not stick out as out of place, and then somehow need to populate the other side of the river with enough content (in terms of little curiosities, towns (with quests, rest-stops, examples of life in legion territory) that things don't seem out of place. All of which is really hard to do. Even compared to something like Frontiers, which from what I'm reading, has a fairly limited scope and fairly limited amount of sidequests.

well that area accross the river seems to have lots of stuff. maybe go to like the capital of the legion or some important legion city instead, just like SG2K did, by creating a whole new area and not really within new vegas map.

But yeah, coming up with content and all that would take a huge team of dedicated and knowledgeable people to not fuck it up. worse case scenario it could become the carcass of a failed project that someone might be able to pick up.

not so worried about pro voicing. seems like modders get tons of requests to be part of a mod. SG2K has some decents ones, as well as some really shitty voices. and the guy from New Vegas Redesigned 3 is making 4 with new voices (but i heard he is changing some voices to match the race lol). so voices would only be an issue of having quality ones.

but like i said, if the energy of those failed and upcoming shit projects like frontier , fallout 1 remake, fallout lonestart, and project brazil, would have been used different in a more lore friendly way, maybe we would get to see great things.

You literally don't actually meet Ciri until like 2/3rd of the way through the Witcher 3 yet she still served as motivation enough for people to play through that game.

Lets not forget Baldur's Gate 1, where the entire MQ is based around getting revenge, and finding out why, someone murdered you adopted father.

And theres a NWN1 expansion thats based around getting revenge for your teacher who got attacked

Many games are based around the idea of wanting to help someone you only knew for 5 mintues.

-Companions(though Danse, Gage, X6-88, and Deacon will lose thier essnetial status if you become enemies with thier factions)

Recently just started a new playthrough and I cant get my pip boy app on my tablet to connect to the game... You could improve the whole settlement mechanic by making them completely autonomous; building them up takes a lot of resources and stuff, but as their defenses and survivability increases, they'll manage completely on their own.
Also, they could make specific and rare resources for you (even food and "ordinary" ammo if this had been rare enough. ..which it should be).

You could have specific settlement have offer unique benefits if you build them up, like a settlement based partly inside a vault with a "Vault Tec CVD forge" or something, which after fixing up could slowly craft you some rare ammo or resources.

(Cardinal principle of acquiring resources, though: to make the player feel good about finding/getting stuff---especially a sustainable source of it---you need to have a powerful need for it and scarcity, all from the get-go.)

To further expand on this, most people forget the sheer scale of Fallout 1/2/Tactics

Arroyo in southern Oregon is as far away from Shady Sands as the Capital Wasteland is from The Commonwealth.

And the distance from Shady Sands to San Diego is almost just as far.

We are talking about hundreds of miles of open wasteland, full of giant creatures and feral ghouls, being traveled by people who don't have any sort of transportation beyond their own two feet.

Communities simply couldn't afford any sort of strong reliance on another since there is no guarantee that traders would make the trip on time, or at all.

Outside of minor trade like The Commonwealth does with the Capital Wasteland, and the Capital Wasteland does with The Pitt and The Broken Banks, each community would be effectively isolated and disconnected from all the others.

Overdrive chem is pretty easy to make and keep up forever with Chemist and BioMesh armor mod. Crits out of VATS out the ass.

This. FO4 always felt too much like Borderlands (Legendary/Badass enemies, the bajillion combinations of special pipe weapons, enemies scaling only in having five thousand times as much health as is needed for a boss...on a common enemy).

Let's be honest: gunplay was never NV's strong suit, but it was decent enough that combat was okay, and didn't detract from the ACTUAL gameplay. It might be buggy as hell and on an engine that's been showing its age for a decade, but then, it's like comparing Tom Cruise or Hayden Christensen to Patrick Stewart or Ian McKellen. One's pretty...the other knows what he's doing.

Steam Overlay, and overlays in general, have been shown to cause problems in Beth games, most likely because the Gamebryo engine is a narcissistic piece of shite that can't handle not being the center of attention. Autosaves have never been Gamebryo's strong suit, and it took overhauling it to the 'creation' engine to make them viable. Not safe, just viable. Hell, Morrowind needed to be almost rewritten on a code level just to make normal saves properly.

All dialog options are at worst passive-agressive, if that's even an option. Characters are guaranteed to be Very Good karma, because that's the only choice devs allowed to ensure you get access to everything. Finding your son is both goal AND motivation.

Does anyone else hate the mods that have Armorsmith Extended as a requirement? I don't want a 200mb base mod that adds a bunch of shit I don't want and completely changes vanilla assets and the fucking vanilla slot lists. I'd also need to download compatability patches for every other mod I want to use to work with this shit. It would be one thing if every armor mod required AE but they don't, there's like three or four authors that require for every mod they make. There's seriously no reason The Mercenary Armor pack should require AE. Then the author of those Tomb Raider accessory packs and a bunch of other armors requires it as well.

I've had this problem before on the console and now it's happening on PC too. I'm already Liked by the Legion and I already helped her improve the healing powder effectiveness through the Survival skill check, but she never offers me any through dialogue.

The dialogue option to bring up the effectiveness of the powder still appears but I can only say "Nevermind" after that.

I've tried using the "rdf" command in the console to reset her dialogue, but I still only have the option of saying "never mind" when talking about the powder.

Alright guys, i'm a role play heavy player.
And there are two chars that I want create after my actual one:
> A boxer girl, patriotic(USA themed) and dumb as a mule. She will side with the NCR (for obvious reasons) and is gona unarmed for all run,

Unarmed is garbage in vanilla FNV, though. Besides a couple OP weapons, there are no perks that help it out unless you get the Fisticuffs Overhaul mod.

Honest Hearts covers a lot of good stuff for your old world imperialist character; Sneering Imperialist, and good old school blunderbuss weapons. Fohty five stoppan power for a sidearm, and something like a Brush gun to civilize the savages is always good.

Except for Ranger Takedown, by the time you're at a point to get any of those (especially Scribe Counter which is hard to get unless you have mods that make Veronica like more items), you already have a boring ass overpowered power fist.

Going real pugilist or martial artist sucks ass early game, and the vanilla game still has no real perks, and the only one kept in the game is a shitty VATS perk, which is dumb as fuck for unarmed/melee unless you want to cheese the teleportation bullshit.

You are right though, those learned special moves from characters in-game is the one shining grace from Vanilla NV regarding unarmed. But being a pugilist or martial artist, like Caine from Kung-fu, it ain't gonna happen because the only weapons decent are giant fists and claws (which in vanilla most are flagged as melee weapons anyway).

I can admit I was wrong saying it was untenable, but it's very limited to use Unarmed, regarding flavor and aesthetics. Firearms and even melee weapons have so much more variety compared (and the variations are all useful).

Welp just cleared out Quincy with beginning of the game gear. The hardest part was the guy with the nuke launcher. Though my framerate went to SHIT in that general area for some reason.

Also Preston just disappeared after the battle, I can't find him. Which sucks because I'm carrying twice my limit in gear. Would have been nice if I could have taken the power armor frame off the boss instead of just the parts.

Honestly, most of the more memorable parts of Bethesda's games are the small, not even side quests that bored interns made and are hit or miss.

The sewers next to Diamond City have more effort put into making a cool interior environment than any other part of the game, and probably because some team member thought of the location as his baby and spent 20+ autistic hours posing and placing everything.

I think Obsidian's biggest issue with their story telling and character building is that its just so unemotional. Its very intellectual and stoic but it just feels too cold.

They are basically the polar opposite of bioware that tries to do emotional story telling at the cost of it being pretty dumb a lot of the time.

I can say for the most part, Obsidian hasn't made me particularly care about many of the characters they've written. The stories are well done, but the characters just feel dull.

I see where you are coming from with that, but I'm not quite sure I agree, atleast regarding emotion. Obsidian's KotOR 2 characters had a lot more emotional impact than KotOR 1 did, and there is plenty of emotional investment in NV. Even something like Run Goodsprings Run, you really only meet them for a few minutes but you can't help but feel bad mowing down goodsprings residents. Or one time I was testing out The Strip Open, had Boone with me, and after the trouble he was like "fuck you im outta here" and I go to talk to him again and he says he lost all respect for me, I felt really bad about that. I've never been able to complete Birds of a Feather either, because while a drunkard angry bitch, Cass deserves better.

So I think there is plenty of emotion in Obsidian's characters.

That's the point, I don't want to spam VATS all the time. Unarmed sucks ass unless you play one particular way, and usually use big ass ugly weapons (only weapon variant is maybe dog tag fist and Love & Hate). Why I was bitching about Unarmed being meh, it has no variety unless modded (even the Fisticuffs Overhaul mod is meh, I've changed it to make some perks Unarmed skill based instead of all END based).

I can open the launcher, but it gives me a notification about it not being supported by Win10. I can start the game, but it's just a black screen and then crashes. If I start it through FOSE, it just skips the launcher, goes to black screen and then crash.

Nuka world has 5 parks you can take over. It also has 3 gangs (Operators, Pack, Disciples). Each time you take over a park you choose which gang run's it.

Also, when you start raiding the commonwealth you get to choose which gang gets each settlement.

Once you've taken all 5 parks and 3 settlements, one of the gangs (with the least stuff) rebels. You get a perk for each of the other 2 gangs that didn't rebel once you complete the quest chain.

It's not a huge deal. The operators are the most productive gang to give parks too since they bring in the most caps. I think the pack is the least productive but I can't remember.

Whichever gang you give the least amount of turf to will rebel at the end and be wiped out. So give settlements to either the Operators or the Disciples. Unless you're a fucking furry of course.
