Kind'a of off topic, but I had some flashback from 15 years ago earlier. Back before I got into Japanese culture, I was still a big Final Fantasy fan.

Some of the dialog in FF8 really bothered me because it sounded so fucking stupid. This is mostly when Squall was talking about Ellone. He'd keep saying "Sis" and "Sis Ellone" and it sounded so unnatural and jarring.

It occurred to me earlier that it was just a victim of uncreative translation. it's really obvious now what that "Sis" and "Sis Ellone" were supposed to be (ex: oneesan). I don't remember other FF's having similar issues like that. Now I'm kind'a pissed off that FFVIII had a shit translation.

It's really not. Even in the US, "sis" is rarely used and only by certain kinds of people, with distinct kinds of sibling relationships. Squall would have never said "sis". He barely even knew her. Sis is more of a broad nickname you give to a close sibling.

Well, I finished Miyako's route. It was mostly good. I have a few questions.

How much of the route overlaps with other routes? Those shady characters that attacked the students at the beach were never brought up again, so I can only assume that gets resolved in another route.

Should I read Miyako's after story immediately?

I think Sakura has the prettiest face. They don't show it very often. I don't think there's an CGs of it. Aoi has an amazing and realisticly proportioned body and ... let's say, skin tone. Easily some of the best CG in that game when it came to the girls because of the ... skin tone ... and believable proportions drawn beautifully.

Main story arc and girl stories still all sucked. But good art.
