The cocoon of caprice is definitely the best part of the game, but the other routes are still good in their own fashion. However, the focus is mainly on the relationship between Yuuji and the chosen girl, so if you're not a fan of the girl, you won't like the route as much.

Of the ones listed, I'd vote KoiChoco. It gets a little redundant because there's a lot of paralells in the different endings. But overall, it's pretty charming. And the anime is good, as well, if you wanted an encore to the VN.

Cross channel is one of only 2 VNs I've scored with a 10/10 (the other being Kamidori). The route design is confusing until you actually read through it. Even now, I sort of have a hard time explaining it. It is basically 1 linear story where the routes themselves are part of the overall story arc. So, 1 main story arc that persists through the whole game, with 7 or 8 smaller arcs tucked inside that allude to that main arc consistently. ... that being said, Cross Channel can be pretty fucked up. Not exactly moege. Not for everyone.

I play with voices off, and I have assigned male voices (subconsciously) to half of the characters. They have those dyke haircuts, are on athletic teams and walk around in track suits half the time, and a few even just look like men. The writing was great, the characters and their actions were believable and realistic, the scenarios were only somewhat farfetched, the art was obviously not done with sex appeal in mind but the h-scenes are incredibly sexy because they're drawn so tastefully and not just jackoff material.

So far this is exactly the same as Misuzu's route except the backgrounds are in widescreen for some reason yet the character sprites aren't changed to fit the size of the background. Also there's a Crow. What was even the point of the other route?

It amazes me how art can be so well done and highly detailed and still look so terrible at the same time.

Like a master painter who invests a decade of his life painting the most mindblowingly amazing still-life masterpiece the world has ever seen ... only it's a still-life of a giant, steaming pile of of literal horse shit.

But, the artist's talents come through so vividly that you can look at it, and practically smell that pile of shit. You can imagine the squishiness of it between your fingers. You can feel the heat radiating off of it. The texture of undigested corn kernels rests on the tip of your tongue. Your stomach turns over just looking at it because it's so lifelike and moving.


That is how I feel about a lot of KEY's art.

I haven't done Meikyuu yet. I played the original and watched the anime. The entire bus flashback from the VN is one of those VN moments I will never forget. It was incredibly immersive and well written. I could have played an entire VN based on that setting alone. But yeah, the anime had the better closing to the route.
