I've been playing since mid-December of 2015, you make new builds, you try different runs, go Korean for each one. You do co-op, I do tons of random SRRC stuff, it's just nice helping people. Some people also do invasions. I'm on my 11th playthrough now.

Out of curiosity, how long did it take you all to get through Central Yharnam on your first run? It's pretty much agreed to be a big 'casual filter', and I know that I personally spent about an hour or two trying to get through there. I can say with confidence that it's the most brutal Souls tutorial.

I'll admit, looking back, I died a bunch to every boss my first time. Bloodborne was, for all intents and purposes, my first 'Souls' game, as it were, and I had no idea what to truly expect. But I fuckin got gud because the game is good and deserves to be mastered. Now I could run through the base probably in a day no problem. Almost did once on NG+3, but that was for fun with /bbg/ co-op, had a 3-man beast mode team, it was super fun.

Gascoigne still presents a challenge to me, though, but he's also my favourite boss bar none.

What is the optimum level to stop leveling my guy? Purely for PvE. I don't want to be insanely over leveled and at the same time, Im not a masochist and don't wish to be under leveled either. For the lower level of dungeons, should I wait until my weapon(s) are at +10? Currentlly under level 60 with 30 Vitality, 34 strength (going for 40 for softcap), and 14 endurance (going to probably stop at 20). I'm weilding the hunter Axe, cannon, and blunderbuss for backup. Is BB like dark souls where 85-110 is considered the optimal level for a character? I ask because I'd like for my guns to do more damage so I'm about to start leveling bloodtinge so my cannon's 3 shots really count. Especially when using the bone marrow ash. Or should I just shovel points into skill as well and switch from pure strength build to quality. (Also switch from using Axe to the saw?)

Btw I'm the same completely blind first ever playthrough guy who has been popping in and out of threads so avoid spoilers if you can. I've yet to spoil anything for myself this far.

~100 is a good place to stop, or wherever you feel that your build is complete. You seem to be a STR build, so try 50 VIT/20 END/50 STR/25 SKL or something along that backbone. If you want your guns to do more damage, but investing in STR is good for the Cannon as well. Standard quality builds in Bloodborne benefit from splitting between the stats, like 50 STR/25 SKL and vice versa.

It's fine because once you get into NG+ everything fucking wrecks you in just a few hits. That's just adapting to the challenge.
I'd agree with the other guy that around BL100 is a good place to stop your build, but you could probably even go to around 110/120-ish if you feel like it, if you've really got no interest in PvP.

50 VIT is an easy cap to hit, and is great for PVE, especially if you plan to go FRC spelunking down the line. High END is generally frowned upon. In this game, stamina consumption is so low that it's not necessary, and the game gives you runes to supplement it anyways.
Axe and LHB are both fine weapons for 50/25. You can also use skill weapons like the Saif with some Heavy Abyssal gems to increase the STR scaling.

50 Vit with 2 HP Runes is the max you should get unless you Vitgouge. Lots of things can kill you in a few hits no matter how high your Vit is in NG+ cycles and Cursed dungeons that halve your health.

Don't level Blt if you're going for 50/25 Str/Skl, the extra bullet damage won't help much unless you went 50 Blt but that means overleveling. Cannon already does good damage and it doesn't scale that well with Blt.

Axe is good, LHB is for shitters and Kirk is fine. You could also try Stake Driver, Logi Wheel and Beast Claw. DLC adds great Strength weapons like Cuttah, Boomhammer, Whirly, Amy Arm, etc. Even the Moonlight Sword can be used for Strength without much into Arc (beams will be shit though unless you've got 25+ Arc and Nourishings).

I'd say that as long as you stay around that 100-120 range, you'll still have plenty of challenge, assuming that you keep playing into NG+ onward, and if you enjoy chalice dungeons (which many people don't, but who knows) you will basically always have a decent challenge even with super good blood gems.

Been playing Dark Souls 3 and it's not that bad of a game.

It does some things worse than Bloodborne it does some thing better than bloodborne.

BL120 isn't really overpowered. It all really depends on your build, though, and what important caps you reach. For strength, you split 50/25 strength and skill, get a recommended 50 vit, however much endurance you want (20 in your case), and see what you can put your leftover points into and how much higher they'll take you.

But if you want more from your Cannon, you'll have to get some bloodtinge, and that will easily bring you way higher than you probably want to go.
It's important to be conscious of level as you progress too, because if you plan to co-op eventually, you'll need to be within a certain range to get good activity.

Thanks for all the help BBG! Blind run first time guy here and I'll take everything you anons said into consideration. Glad I asked before dumping into bloodtinge for my cannon. I'll be shooting for 50 vit, 50 strength, 20 endurance. I'll probably end up just keeping my Hunter's Axe/ cannon build. As It stands now, I'm able to get 3 shots out of my cannon by using that ability to lose HP in exchange for +5 quicksilver bullets.

Last thing I'll ask about runes. I've only found like 5 total runes. I'm currently using the ones that increase total Blood vials/QS carried. And then another for extra physical defense. Are runes super important?

It took me about 4.5 hours to get through there, probably took about 8 tries to beat the cleric beast. Of all the souls games I had only beat DS1 before playing BB and I beat it with an ultra strength/high armor/high poise build so it was like an entirely new game. From there on out the only boss I had as much trouble with as the cleric beast was the shadows of yharnum and that was me being relatively underleveled.

IIRC, boom hammer has mediocre ARC scaling. Better to go 50/25 or pure strength if you're super intent on using it, same with amygdala arm. Wheel, tonitrus, and holy moonlight sword are all best 25/50 though. And of course running Str/arc gives you a lot of choice in weapons to convert to ARC (through gems), though that's only worth it if you're planning on at least 50 arc.

Don't put any points into BLT, don't take END past 20.

I personally like converting Stake driver and Whirligig to use as Fire weapons, but any weapon that doesn't already do mixed damage works (except beast claw since beasthood doesn't benefit nonphysical damage)

Not him but ideally you should start with Cruel Fate origin. Go 25/50 Str/Arc, those are the softcaps for weapons. Skill could be 12-25. CF's base End (12) is enough for any weapon as long as you slap on your best Stamina Rune. End game your Vit should be 40-50, End can be base-20. 25/50 works great for HMS, Wheel, Tonitrus and Boomhammer along with converted weapons.

Arc builds aren't really recommended for first playthroughs since they require more work for gems and can be a bit complicated. If you're full on gonna go with it, check out the Arc guide in the OP. You could always ask the thread for help, but most would advise you go in blind and try to solo every boss first time around. Going in blind as an Arc build is pretty tough too. Don't level Blt.

Two good spots to invade if you wanna be cheeky are frontier and nightmare of mensis. The former is 50-60, the latter is 70-80. I was just there, and was about 75, with 20 in STR, 40 in arc, 28-29 in VIT. 40 is a good target for lowish level ARC builds because it's the lowest you can use a call beyond at (which is fun). Arc is more important than STR imo (you should get STR to 20 if you wanna use the wheel though.)

If you want to use a converted weapon, beat the last boss of the first chalice dungeon, then get summoned and beat it again as a cooperator. You'll get two very respectable fire radials for until later in the game. If you're going Arc heavy Str/Arc, CF: 40/12/25/12/5/50 is the minimum you should go for. 2 HP Runes and 1 Stam Rune is the common Rune setup, works for any build. If you wanna go a bit higher, you can pump Vit, End and Skill a bit higher. 25/25/50 is a great HMS build. 50/25/25 works too. Getting the gems for your weapons won't be easy as a newbie. You're gonna spend a lot of time in Chalice Dungeons for good ones. The main game barely has any decent gems for Arc builds.

For the charge attack, make sure you recognize that he makes a specific screech and spits out yellow breath. It's about a 2 second wind up, but you'll learn to notice it. Afterwards, it's just a matter of dodging laterally.
For his jumping attacks, the quicker one just involves counting and dodging on 2, and the longer one is easier avoided by choosing a direction and sprinting in a straight line.
Don't stay beneath him for too long, or else you'll be caught by his stomping attack.
For the giant lightwave attack on phase 2, get behind him immediately and it will miss you. Don't worry about the initial AoE when he raises his sword. It does little damage and just knocks you down.

This is my current character. I have over 60 million of blood echoes amassed from cooping in dungeons. Should I level up? Is there more / better activity around level 120? Should I level up my skill to 25 for better damage with my nourishing-gemmed weapons, and maybe set my VIT to 50?

It's cool playing with low level players / showing them my power level and all but I'm getting sick of fighting chalice Rom and I barely do PVP anyway.

How many levels apart can you be matched when using random coop? I know I've been paired with level 148's and level 65's before, just by asking after the fact.

How hard are the Hindertomb Chalices? Can I beat them both at LVL 90?

Build's decent, would've picked a different starter but it's fine as it is. You could go a bit higher than 98 if you don't PvP, 120 is the furthest I'd go. If you want to match up with more FRC hosts, go higher. 120-200 should be good. There's a calculator in the OP you can use to see your level ranges. If you choose to go higher, aim for 25 Skill, 50 Vit and maybe some extra End. If it's closer to 200 you could dump everything else into Arc for Tools, they're pretty handy in FRC.

Man, I forgot how much I love the Hunters Axe. Hands down one of the most solid weapons in the game

Magic and faith both are pretty bad in DS3.
