As a new-ish player, this what I find offputting since it seems to strongly favor people that have been grinding from before this change as well favor those that are willing to open up their credit cards.

Once you hit 2k elo you have three main options if you still want to have fun.
1: Find some 2k elo friends and pubstomp as a 5 man group
2: Make a smurf account and try to see how quickly you can make it back to 2k elo
3: Avoid that gamemode. Only play the other casual queue, pve and comp.

2500 elo here and for the past week I've been getting matched with people below mine. Like 1k below. Before it was pretty common to get matched with 2800 players but I don't know if Hi Rez touched something to make queue times shorter or maybe there is less people playing.

Just swapping the 2090 and 1365 solo player would result in teams that have almost the same average elo.

I think he's referring to the fact that if a Bomb King builds his loadout/items around CC, he can put out a Grumpy Bomb every few seconds (like 6-7 I think without cards that reduce the cool-down when using another ability).

That means, the Barik can no longer do stuff like pop his ult on top of an enemy Ruckus popping his Ult, because Bomb King will likely have one of his Grumpy bombs on the field.
Instead, if he wants even close to the full duration of his ult, he'll only be able to put it down as the BK allows, popping it once the grumpy went off.

This would be fine if most players in comp didn't have the cognitive skills of chipmunks, and would realize they need to focus the fuck out of that BK if they want any defence, but that's not likely to happen.

This. Pip, Grohk, and Ying are all incredibly difficult to kill once they're on the point and know what they're actually doing with their build. A Pip with Side Tanks IV and Graviton IV can make enemy teams run in fear because of the insane uptime on his right click slow and AoE damage, Grohk can spam totems and ghostwalk to avoid damage for years with Gale IV + Haunting IV + Phantom II, Ying can just place a shit ton of illusions around the point and teleport to distract people.

Why is MVP only given to champ with their respective roles?

Same reason Fernando and Drogoz got their speeds nerfed and Pip got his explosive flask effect nerfed.

For reasons known only to Hi-Rez they have decided to assign different characters different roles my suspicion is this is to attract the Overwatch audience and now feel that while still giving players some freedom in how they play each characters with cards and items they have to also try and force you into playing a specific role. Giving you MVP for being the best at filling the role they want you to play is a way of encouraging it.

I have 120k saved up, so chest isn't really much of a problem for me. What I'm afraid of is the current state of cards and legendaries.

I'm fine with the essence system concept. It gives us a decent gold sink by allowing us to purchase radiant chests with gold. The pricing needs to be worked on, or the methods of acquiring essence increased.

I dislike the legendary cards. They sounded neat, however, looking at the patch notes, they gutted a significant number of champions and spread out the bits and pieces into the legendary cards instead of making them unique variations.

My issue is that the one healing oriented Pip Legendary actually does nothing to enhance Pip's healing potential, in fact with the way Reload works, reducing the cooldown by seconds, instead of percentages, it actually makes Reload worse.

Pip is kinda OP to be honest, the AOE makes it too easy to land shots for 0 fucking skill required.

Add that he gets a slow, the best ult in the game (automatic team fight win or 1 v 1 win), good hp, good burst healing and nice mobility.

Pip AOE buff was a mistake, that scenario is all too common now, a pip outdamaging most people for 0 skill required.

pip's main advantage is he can fulfill two roles adequetly so you no longer have to rely on 2 teammates for success.
he has less of a purpose in a "pro" match since a well played ying or damba are much better supports, and maeve, evie and androxus are much better flanker when played well.
its the same reason that drogoz is terrible in low levels and yet so good in high level games, is because you can generaly rely on your team mates to not fuck up.

it's decently balanced outside of a few outliers every patch, and the meta has no choice but to be diverse due to the "unique characters per team" thing in competitive. The game is not tactically deep, but there's some new, original strategies every once in a while.

The new legendary system might be an issue, but once everyone has access to them, it shouldn't be a problem.

boosting up doesnt save you because of her insane vertical mobility
she travels faster than rockets, leading shots is incredibly ineffective
trying to catch her with a fire spit explosion will only remove a bit more than half of her health, which she will regen after killing you
i tried using salvo but its only effective in closed spaces where she cant dodge the explosion radius

saying stuff like "just stay with ur team lol" can be applied to everything, and drogoz isnt a "stay with your team" champ
