Read the General problems FAQ before asking questions. If you still need help, post your specs (speccy screenshot), OS, emulator version number and details of what's wrong.

Please contribute to the wiki if you discover any inaccuracies or have relevant information to append.

READ THE WIKI BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS LIKE:
>Where do I get games
OR
>What is the best emulator for...

Check out the wiki for the emulator you're using if you run into trouble, there may be a solution there too, often including recommendations for optimal game settings.

Remember to submit bug reports or shit won't get fixed.

>has medication but refuses to take it
Thats legitimately retarded.

Depression is curable but it requires actual therapy. You need to change the way you think and you wont accomplish that on your own if you're in a permanent down state.
>>
>>168716613
It might have some strong side effects on him like needing to sleep over 12 hours a day and such things.

And worse, he is advising someone else to do the same.
>>
>>168716773
Then he should talk to his psychologist and ask for stuff from a different brand.

But thats besides the point, SSRIs only make you feel marginally better and as long as you dont combat the cause of your depression you will revert back.
Taking them actually isnt much of a big deal and its supposed to be a supplement for treatment only, not something like aspirin that you pop when you got a headache.

He needs therapy. I understand the feelings he described there, especially the numbness part.
Got to the point where I couldnt do basic chores anymore and neglected really small shit like renewing my ID.
Started therapy a year ago and I'm MUCH better now.

Ok I narrowed it down to the vsync option
Apparently the vsync in Dolphin is pretty bad and it causes audio skipping(at least in cubivore). Any way to run the emulator in a borderless window so that I don't need use vsync?

What's with all these pro-SSRI shills? I was depressed from 15 to 18, been on medication and all it did was make me angry as fuck and have a limp dick. Eventually I realized that life is made up of both good and bad shit and you need the bad shit to properly enjoy the good one. 26 yr old now, yeah I'm no normie but at least I haven't felt those fucked up depression feels for years.

Do you guys know how much progress has been made on dolphin to allow games like Wind Waker, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Four Swords Adventures to use the GBA screen for various controls? Depression that has a cause often fails to qualify as depression. Obviously, it goes away with its cause.

Actual depression has readily identifiable no cause. The person is just sad, sometimes suicidally

So I'm having some issues installing PCSX2 to my laptop.
For starters after installation I can't open the application instead I get "api-ms-win-crt-heap-l1-1-0.dll is missing"
Apparently that has to do with Visual C++ 2015 so I reinstalled that but it didn't change anything, it also has something to do with a windows update installer so I tried to install that but it hangs forever on "checking for updates"
I have no idea what's going on, can anybody explain?
>>
>>168736532
You need the x86 C++ Redistributables, not the x64 ones.
>>
>decide to finally give BGDA a replay after that anon posted about it last thread

>port is somehow inferior and dolphin adds issues on top
>go back to PCSX2 as a last ditch effort before digging up my XBOX after realizing my autism wouldn't cope with the bugs and version differences
>runs better in PCSX2 outside of the font being harder to read
Dolphin is starting to feel like a fucking meme, only game I didn't have issue with that isn't a big Nintendo 1st party title is Timesplitters 2
>>
>>168735390
>Who will wrote new code base?
SP and his crew. I remember SP telling me about his pal Daeken and his wonderful project called Tarogen. I long await the day the Tarogen project is complete. SP also planned on working on a unified HLE renderer that's supposed to be amazing! Boy libretro has a lot of potential.
>>
>>168736881
>Dolphin is starting to feel like a fucking meme
Dolphin has been a meme for a long time. Where have you been? Shader stuttering alone is enough to kill off all my interest in using Dolphin. Whenever there's a problem with Dolphin, its fanboys always try to make excuses to justify the lack of success in solving those issues. Yet these fanboys don't do the same for other emulators.

How do I set up Ishiiruka/Dolphin to use the mouse as a wiimote pointer properly?

I've gotten close but I can never get the cursor to follow the mouse exactly. It's always off by 3-5 inches. This makes it impossible for me to point at a large portion of the screen/game.

For reference, I'm trying to play Elebits.

>>
>>168738715
I figured out a garbage solution. I increased the sensitivity of the IR and as long as you ignore the mouse cursor, you can use it like a mouse and hit all the edges.

I don't know why they can code an entire fucking emulator from nothing but can't have the screen directly grab your mouse cursor 1:1 as the wiimote.

Still, it works for now.

Dolphin is one of the most actively developed projects in emulation if not the most active one. If there is anything you can rely on the Dolphin devs to do its to keep up with whatever is new so its no surprise that other developers use it as a reference for something.

I'm playing splatoon on cemu and it works really well, except sometimes I can't paint random walls that I should be able to. Jumping off the level usually fixes it but it kinda kills the fun.

Is there a proper fix for this or do I just have to deal with it?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FHu8Toe9L0

I've spent over 3 hours trying to get this to work. I've followed all of the steps in this video to the letter so many times that I've lost count. I've used 3 different versions of Dolphin. I've mostly focused on using the version of Dolphin they showed in the video when spending the past several hours tweaking:
>G8ME01.ini under Documents\Dolphin Emulator\GameSettings\
>gfx_dx11.ini under [path to the Repainted pack folder]\Dolphin Emulator\
>G8M.ini under [Dolphin folder]\Sys\GameSettings\
>and G8ME01.ini under the same path above

Nobody told me to tweak these things; I just took the initiative to do it myself. Nobody has said anything, in fact, because in the past 3+ hours I've spent working on this, I've been unable to find even a SINGLE post mentioning, "If TTYD Repainted isn't working for you, here's something you can do to fix it." Literally nothing has been posted about it by other people, and nothing I've tried has worked.

How do you get this shit to work? The picture included with this post are the most common notices I get when I start the game. The game itself works, but it acts as if I don't have the Repainted pack installed correctly, even though I've done everything EXACTLY as shown in the video at LEAST 5 times now, closer to 10 times. The two small windows on the sides of the picture are the only relevant recommended settings that were briefly shown in the video.

So I'll take that as a no, then. It's a shame because setting it to the slowest LLE option makes the sound perfect, but makes the game run at ~15fps. Anyone emulating PSX on the Vita?
I've downloaded the PCSX-ReARMed libretro core and got the BIOS files pack from the wiki but the readme just says `ePSXe and PCSX-Reloaded recommend ps-22a.bin`.

Those aren't PCSX-ReARMed, so don't worry about it. And they just recommend that, it doesn't really matter what BIOS you use for them.

Well, I know that ePSXe isn't but I thought that PCSX-ReARMed is based on PCSX-Reloaded. So that's why I asked.
And didn't even know that there's an RA BIOS pack. Just went straight to download for the PlayStation only.
Thanks!

I recently upgraded to Dolphin 5.0 from Dolphin 3.6 (I think. Some 3.X version) and they changed it so that it actually installs right now.

I've got it working for the most part but I can't get it to recognize my Xbox One controller as a GCPad. I got it set up and working fine in the 3.6 version but I wanted to try and transfer the Gamepad profile over from 3.6 however I can't seem to find where it is located. Xenia got some weeks of fame in the last months of 2016 but nothing really big was mentioned in /r/Emulation in a good while.

RPCS3 is doing great and can already do 1080p60fps on somes games like a Miku Hatsune Project Diva thing.

Citra is also doing great but at the moment it doesn't have Geometry Shader (because the previous code was uncompatible with a feature added not so much ago, texture filtering iirc) so a lot of animations in various games just doesn't show up (the biggest example would be Pokémon Games attacks animations).

Play! is prolly still in development, don't recall hearing anything big of it lately though.

About PPSSPP, can't help with that. I never tried multiplayer desu.

I'm pretty sure that they would, I don't recall AC being that performance demanding. Why you'd want to play the PSP version is beyond me.

>>168951129
There's a few extra old features on them. Plus from googling seems Armored Core 3 running slow on PCSX2 is a pretty common problem. Can't find any clear solutions either.

Is it only standard AC3 that does this or is the entire AC3 series slow as hell on PCSX2 in general?
>>
>>168951412

From what I recall just a few parts and that's it. Also incredibly fucking bad controls, that would make the PS1 control scheme look like a blessing. Sure it can be mitigated, but still.

Also I'm playing AC3 Nexus on HW mode on a R7 360 and I'm not having slowdown problems.

>Thanks, but I think i'll stick with software mode for now though. The res impact isn't that bad and seeing all those lights and shit through objects is a bit off putting.
If you can stick with that HW has other issues, the long sewer tunnel in that one mission in particular (I think a chunk of your HUD texture is mistakenly applied as the water transparency effect which looks pretty fucked up)and as with other games from the series heat distortion effects murder your framerate in HW.

>Just going to hope futire builds can optomize the depth thing in the AC3 series
It already went from 5-10fps to 40-50 for me (4670k + GTX770) so I doubt it's gonna get much better anytime soon.

> Any other games where that little hack can come in handy?
None that I know of but if you're having bad performance it never hurts to try it.
>>
>>168960761
HW seems to be perfect for 2 though. Literally the only issues I had were slight borders around a scant few letters and the final tunnel to the center of Phobos (pulsing on console) being an entire bright blue pattern. Personally it did look nice though, never had any slowdowns the console version would have had.

Also emulating God Hand after years of not playing it. Only had like 8 deaths in Chapter 1 on normal. Doing better than I thought I would be.

I know for a fact it happened to me on an actual console (NTSC). Although it might have to due with a bug with the slim. It's been years since I played it on actual console so I have no idea if it was the slim or fat one.

I still do distinctly remember having to save and quit the game to get rid of the sound of a flying aircraft looping ad nauseum.

The framebuffer code in GLideN64 is crap anyway. Does anyone know of a way (or a shader for snes9x) that has simple scanlines that can be messed with?

I love how Kega Fusion has scanline options and a bunch of other nice options, same goes with nestopia and epsxe among others.

heck, I would use other emulator if it mean being able to use simple scanlines instead of the weird filters and shaders that every fucking snes emulator I know uses.

Please, I foolishly got myself a progressive scan monitor and it misses the scanlines I was trying to recreate (and that look good in tons of games) and its driving me nuts because I've been messing with filters and shit for hours on end instead of playing games, and this has been going on for months.

Does anybody know how to squeeze a little more speed out of Mednafen PSX on retroarch? I can play many games at full speed, but whenever there are too many polygons on screen, the speed drops to around 55~fps, ever so slightly slower than it should be and with crackling audio. I tried everything I could think of, like setting my screen to 800x600, or tweaking pretty much every option on the Video, Audio and Driver sections and on Mednafen's options, but nothing makes a difference, and in the worst cases I just lose even more speed.
I get the impression that my laptop can handle this, there just might be some option I haven't tried.

Also, is there a way to make the rumble feature work? I have the drivers for my controller working properly and I've confirmed it can be made to vibrate, but I can't seem to make it work on retroarch.

The two things you can do is check whether there is some other process using CPU time via the task manager and kill it or use one of the hardware renderer for it
You could always try checking if rewind is on even if it shouldn't.

>Also, is there a way to make the rumble feature work?
Every once in a blue moon I manage to make it work but never remember how, might have to do with the controller type and some other setting.

The "problem" I see is that the GPL is inherantly designed to allow people to shill things like this.

Forking and then selling said forks from under people is even considered a "Freedom" in the eyes of the GPL. When you however maintain forks of software, though you are in a limited position to be able to change the license to restrict this happening. I was in the same situation when I was working on VBA-M, since they don't have the legal right to change the license since it inherits from the original VBA project. So they are screwed to eternity from entrepreneurs hocking code shit since the original VBA devs vanished from the public eye.

I guess this is what happened for libretro, since doing hard and soft forks also forces you to operate under the terms of the original license of thingsa and you have no say in controlling things. Though with original cores and the original RA code, they are in a much better permission to change to non commercial licenses.
>>
>>169022918
>>169048779
I.e literally not a problem if they admit it. That's how free software works. They respect the license, so they're allowed to sell it.
>>
>>169049784
One could go on by saying as long as its legal, morality and respect of people doesn't matter in the slightest, but thats best left to some rantish blog post I guess. But yep, the license says its legally fine to sell forks when others aren't. Because of "freedom".

>>169046772
Thats also best left a rantish blogpost and why I think I have closure now.

It's an overlooked emulator that's been in development for several years by some dude called thegangster256, it looks like it runs some games better than Play but it's terribly slow and unoptimized and I can't get controls to work. He also wrote hpsx64 which runs many games fine. I'm only forcing it like some sort of a meme because it won't be in a playable state anytime soon.

Hi there!

You seem to have made a bit of a mistake in your post. Luckily, the users of 4chan are always willing to help you clear this problem right up! You appear to have used a tripcode when posting, but your identity has nothing at all to do with the conversation! Whoops! You should always remember to stop using your tripcode when the thread it was used for is gone, unless another one is started! Posting with a tripcode when it isn't necessary is poor form. You should always try to post anonymously, unless your identity is absolutely vital to the post that you're making!

Now, there's no need to thank me - I'm just doing my bait to help you get used to the anonymous image-board culture!
