Not really, I don't enjoy how these games handle storytelling. They feel very impersonal but not in the way that books are, they're too distracting to devote all your energy on imagining the scene so it feels like I'm just absorbing information instead of being immersed. Instead I find myself reading the text quicker than the voice acting can spit it out and looking at the static game world and portrait until the shitty voice actor finally finishes. I loved imagining how my silent protagonists talked and gestured during conversations, but isometric RPG conversations feel like a draining chore.

Does anyone know about DA:O tactics?

I just started playing again and didn't want to micro this time around but the tactics seem to be incredibly broken.

I set up a basic system which works well which is:

>If low health use potion
>If target rank is elite or higher use ability (debuffs and strong attacks)
>Target lowest health enemy and attack

Basically I have everyone to use bows and I micro as a tank and sweep up targets for them to shoot at. They usually blow the first one up but even one attack with threaten on seems to be enough to hold aggro and I use taunt when a cluster comes in so that one doesn't get pealed away before I can hit it. This is great except that they will only debuff elites when they are the target with the lowest health or the last target because the only condition dealing with an enemies rank requires it to already be your target. As more tactics slots open up I want to do more.

For instance I wanted to leverage Alistair's mana burning ability by adding a line in the second slot that says if there is a mage attack it with melee and then go back to the normal routine but there is no way to do this. My work around was to set it up like this:

>Enemy: nearest visible mage attack
>If target rank is elite or higher use ability
>Enemy: Target mid/long range switch to ranged
>Target lowest health enemy and attack

The problem here is this set up seems to constantly be interrupted by any behavior setting. He will stop to attack anything that hits him with whatever weapon he has out, when the mage dies he will not switch back to ranged or he will stand there constantly switching weapons.

I was hoping to go into more depth this playthrough but I'm hitting a wall. Google only comes up with very old half true information and I can't tell if the tactics system isn't capable of doing what it was meant to or I just don't understand how it works.

I don't know if it's possible to setup such complex tactical behaviours but there are mods that expands the tactics system. Search for Advanced Tactics on Nexus mods website.

I always setup my companions to use crowd-control abilities on enemy mages. Stun, paralyze, knockdown, etc.

Try this

>Enemy: lowest health attack

Behavior only is used when no tactic can be accomplished so if you set it to ranged this will ping the lowest health target constantly until there is a mage at which point he will switch to melee and attack it until there are no mages left and then he will switch to a bow. He will heal at any point when below 25% health.

the only templar skill that doest suck is holy smite and most of time you kill mages in 1 hit using mana clash.

bows in DAO suck, you need to many buffs and levels to do anything with them, if you really want use them, wait to mid-end game and use shale.

and you trying too hard with the tatics, if you need your guys to stay ranged change the behavior to ranged mid fight, also, leting AI use important spells will lead to a wipe sooner or later, better use them( speacialy AoE) manually.

the most complex thing i remember doing with the tatics was setting up combos and single target cc.

i wish i could help more with tatics but i dont play this game for a long time so i dont remember most stuff.

The bows are especially strong in the early game. The idea here is to focus fire as soon as possible without wasting time moving around and without worrying about everyone getting fucked by the same aoe. They get worse midgame when the focused early damage isn't enough to keep the group out of danger.

Mages and DW rogues are versatile and fun.

Is it still worth it getting into PoE?
I just finished another old-school run of Dungeon siege and while that was fun I was now looking for newer RPG games.

The price on steam is quite high just for a 'test-run' and I could not find a demo or ... a 'It just happened to be installed out of a sudden without me paying for it' type of version.

That being said I love RPG games, not so much text-heavy ones but why not give it another try.

Weapon coating, poison, runes, spirit weapon and frost weapon on 2 dual wield rogues and a tank. Plus grenades which I never used before then throw in the bard/assassin buffs.

Nope, I own the game, got it for $5 (the sticker was 19.99 but all those games were marked down to $5) and you got really really mad about it, that is not me just saying that a lot of people have posted telling you to calm down or shut up and I'm sure I'm annoying some people too except I genuinely wanted to talk about DA:I

I know why I bought it, because I recognized the name and it was $5. I have a huge backlog and most of my games are on PC, the PS4 is mostly a netflix player for us. I didn't realize that DA:I is required playing for the /dag/+/bwg/ I was under the impression there were other games to talk about as well. Also is it improper etiquette to talk about a game I am going to play soon?
