Just the ship drives alone would have made the MW faster than the pathfinders that were sent. Reaper FTL drives are 2-4 times as fast as anything the MW had. So even if the council took 100 years to get that working they could have sent a new expedition to Andromeda and it would have arrived centuries prior to the pathfinders. It's a major plot hole and the game hasn't even been released

On earth probably. The place we don't know shit about except for the fact that Earthborn Shepard joined a gang while growing up. So I like to imagine it being a bit cyberpunk-like, and the only earth places we see (before reaper-destruction) are the places the higher-ups live.

If Wrex is alive, there is nothing initially wrong with saving the Krogan. Wrex is, as Eve says, a 'mutant' of sorts and truly has the best in mind for the Krogans' future.
And then a Reaper, likely full of indoctrinating tech gets dragged below the surface of their homeworld. The amount of effort and time it would take after the war to excavate it and make sure it was entirely disabled would be too long for it to not leave a mark. Wrex would likely be overthrown and likely a significant number of Krogan would begin to work against everything. That said, this entire situation is resolved by the ending of the game, but there's no way for the characters to know this.

Saving the Geth is useful only for the war effort due to the ending. If you can save both the Quarians and the Geth, there is absolutely no moral reason not to, but because the destroy ending is the only correct option, the Geth are boned.

At this point I'm going to say not to worry. They're not oblivious to how poorly ME3 was received, and with MEA the whole point is that they're not trying to wrap everything up at the last minute.

No they didn't. The ending is fundamentally the same in the information datamined from the leaked internal alpha. It literally listed the three ending choices as in the final game, they just had a rewrite a lot around there being no suicide mission style mechanics at the end and a bunch of terminology and names changing. Way back from when the ending was first leaked, the story draft implied that the universe was slowly dying out due to using element-zero related tech (mass relays) causing the rapid aging of stars.
That's what the Haestrom mission was supposed to foreshadow before they dropped the ball on it.

The Reaper were there to cull spacefaring races before to slow down the universe "aging" too rapidly.

Javik was meant to be the Catalyst. Not a Reaper AI, actual Javik being the key to open up the Crucible.

There was also ending choices related to the Ezo crisis : Either destroy the Reapers and let the universe run its course freely. Join the Reapers as a way to safeguard every race advancement and hope that the next cycle would find a way to correct the Ezo crisis.
There was also a third option I can't remember very well, but it involved killing Javik and the Commander at the same time.

It was a very early draft that got leaked like that. Soon after ME2 released.
