You only have very few combos anyway but even during the hardest campaign mode all you have to do is spam guardbreak and r2 and there is no need to mix up combos because bots don't read patterns. There are also level 5 bots (not in the campaign though) that are made for buttrape and basically know what you do before you know it, that's cheating though and just annoying. The combat kinda falls apart unless it's with another person where it's reaction based and whoever makes mistakes gets fucked up.

ME feels a lot more 'empty' and less in-depth than DA, probably by virtue of having a far bigger universe, and also because the writers don't really live for it much (a revolving door of writers, as anon said). Very good games, of course, more accessible and casual-friendly, but personally less engaging for me. I'm not half as interested in ME's plots/lore/characters/etc as DA's; I blasted through the ME series, had a great time, then pretty much dropped it and moved on. No interest in the fan community or speculation or transformative works or whatever. Also the CCs are all shit and it's frustrating.

The series did have a perfectly good plan laid out for it at the end of ME1, e.g now that the council believes me and likes humans, and I can speak Prothean etc, our team is going to learn about and find a way to stop the Reapers.

Not only is it nigh on impossible to make a good looking male Shep - default is honestly the closest you will get - it's pretty much not possible to make the same Shep three times if you chose certain options (and considering there's like 6 options for each slider, this is very likely). How does crowdfunding campaigns work? The fans pay the devs to create games, and the devs sell the games for money, once complete, right? Why doesn't every company/developer follow this route?

I know big developers are owned by big publishers, but the publisher receives a share of the company's profit, unlike crowdfunding.

My guess is that it's great for the occasional project, testing the waters, and things like that but not really the kind of thing that something like the whole of the video game industry can sustain itself off of. There's billions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of jobs dependent on this leviathan of publishing, advertising, developing, etc.

I think it's also just very murky territory, relying on the people to fund a video game's creation. Big developers and publishers dont want to deal with whatever hassle might be involved in having that kind of 1-1 relationship and basically having to be more transparent than they've ever been before less they risk damaging potential sales and getting tons of negative feedback, the kind of which is guaranteed to destroy the game's sales numbers. It's just a lot to worry about.

It's obvious that this stuff was his pet project, and it sucks badly that he's tapping out now just when this stuff is going to come to a head. Morrigan is also set to come back and have the rest of her arc play out. I seriously hate to imagine how awkward that could feel.

It's just that if Bioware has proven anything with its history, it's that one writer can't replace another writer without it being awkwardly apparent. Particularly not when that writer has such a distinctive style, which Gaider definitely does. Imagine if it were Weekes leaving and Gaider was going to take on Solas. Like, wouldn't you end up with two distinct, likely conflicting character visions? Likewise, isn't it going to be absolutely awkward when Dorian's major DA4 part is written by someone else?

I'm glad that Gaider is getting paid more or has more creative freedom at his new job or more holiday time or something. But I'm not actually glad at all, I'm kind of mad, and I wish I could undo him leaving.

I really love DA and I want it to be as good as possible, and for it to not have to suffer from major writer turnovers. Please... just tell me I'm a faggot and an autist. Let something stay the same.

But seriously, the handover was going on for some time and unless he's truly the biggest and most unprofessional dickhole ever, Gaider will have left plenty of instructions on how to write 'his' characters, and the direction for the main players will have probably been decided long ago. Even if that's not strictly the case, the DA team have been working together very closely for a number of years and Weekes in particular should have little problem imitating the style. Gaider and other BW writers have spoken quite a lot about how they emphasise finding their character's "voice" in writing DA, and it's not actually a hard thing to mimic if you have a knack for that sort of thing, which Weekes demonstrably has. It's an aspect of writing I'm particularly interested in because I write fanfiction and nailing the nuances and characteristics is key to good fic.

Spirit is just a talent branch, not a spec (it works well with Knight Enchanter, unless that's what you mean). Usually mage is fairly easy especially if you get the aggression-reduction buffs so you can do your own thing, you might need to bring Cass *and* Blackwall to heavy tank for you at the beginning until you're not so squishy. How far are you in the game? No, he just said that he was brash and very impulsive and that was the reason he didn't think his Veil plan through.

He probably was an impatient, reckless man blinded by rage and pain for the slaves' destiny who couldn't even trust his own men (Mythal apparently betrayed him at some point and he even suggests Sera to eliminate members of her organization when they are no longer useful to avoid any risk).

Also Andruil never made him his sex slave: he literally came up with a plan to escape while tied to a tree because he didn't want to, since Andruil was crazy as fuck and it's implied she was one of the cruelest elven gods (goddess of blood sacrifices and madness).

That tale was also written by Weekes when Solas was a so much different character from what we got in the end, so it might not even be canon anymore. In fact Andruil and Ghilan'nain are lesbians and in love with each other in Inquisition, while the rest are all siblings, children of Elgar'nan and Mythal. Maybe they "adopted" Solas too, since he became part of the pantheon and was made part of the group.
