>>
>>168666215
What is your style? Are you looking for a stage layout with possible obstacles and stuff or are you
looking for wave based gameplay or do you want a curtain of bullets to dodge?
>>
>>168666606
I don't even know. Aside from very poorly playing some on SNES as a kid, I'm totally new to the genre. Though I like games that pull your focus in until your mind falls quiet and you're almost in a trance, not consciously thinking about what to do next but just doing it. Mostly I've experienced that with rhythm games, but sometimes with platformers. Does this happen in shmups? If so, what kind of game is most likely to give me that experience?

I'm a graduate student. I do a lot of work in the computer lab on campus because it's a nice, quiet place to work, but I use my laptop because it's faster than the computers in t here and because it has Spotify. I recommend Dodonpachi Resurrection on Steam. CCWI isn't for beginner, it does has Novice Mode but the difficulty gap between Novice and Arcade is big, you won't progress much for a loooong time. But if you like the challenge and like to suffer then go get it.
Darius Burst CS is good recommendation too.

Honestly I find CAVE to be quite shit. Almost every game they make is the same shit, you have a ship and two options (maybe they track, maybe they don't) and you just chain kills together. Some are a bit different, but most are just the same shit. And somewhere along the line they started pandering full-time to autistic otakus and now their games don't even have the style anymore that games like ketsui had.

I realize a lot of it is just learning to play better, but can anybody give me some advice so I at least know what I'm doing wrong in order to learn from it?

>>168716234
Watch a replay or two, and plan out which weapons you're going to take for every section of the game. Appropriate weapons will give you a much better time.
>>
>>168716234
A big part of Strania is learning the right weapon for the right situation. You want to learn the stages so you make sure you have the right weapons at the right time. IIRC you grab the weapon with whichever hand is closest to it when you pick it up. Outside of casual play for scoring you want to maximize use of all weapons for more points.

I've thought about streaming again, but I usually don't feel like doing multiple runs in succession, and only one 15-minute run wouldn't be worth starting a stream for, nevermind that I'd let everyone watching down again if I stopped after that.

any time man, theres always ppl playing usually and its an easy game to get to grips with. I'll help you out if you need it.
>>
>>168734001
>what's the CS mode like?
CS mode is a ton of different missions. A mission could be 18 stages long, it could be 1. It might even be a boss rush. You're assigned one of many ships for each mission and most of them have unique play styles. You get currency that you can use to unlock ships so you can pick ones that weren't assigned for the mission, but I found that being forced to use the other ships was good fun and a great way to learn their intricacies.

>And how easy/difficult is the game?
It varies. Some of the routes in arcade mode/some of the CS missions are easy and some are very hard. You select you're route so you can pick whatever you want.

If you're playing normal/hard and don't give a shit about score vulcan + missile is a godlike combo. Pick them up in the same arm multiple times to level them up. Use the sword for all bosses besides maybe the second one, you can use the practice mode to figure out when and how you can slash them, although keep in mind that the practice mode doesn't randomize their attacks so they will catch you off guard in the actual game.

Why can't Western devs into anything, really? When Japan makes technical games you get Battle Garegga, DMC, God Hand, Dark Souls, Vanquish, Tekken, KoF...

When the West tries to make a technical game you get For Honor. KEK
The West can only do FPS well, and even then I don't believe it would be much of a problem for Japanese devs to completely eclipse them in making FPS.

Well, okay, the West does make some pretty technical stuff like CSGO, Dota, SC2 and such, but esports games are about all they can sometimes get right...

I like the stage D song too. Stage H music isn't something I'd listen to in my spare time. I just think the music fits that particular stage. It sounds very ominous and slow at the start. The enemies are coming from the bottom of the screen to the top, giving the appearance that you are descending to the planet's surface in your final and possibly doomed mission. Your path takes you through the last line of defense. You make it through the blockade of larger ships and swarms of enemies attack you, desperate to thwart your plans. The clouds become more intense as you pass through the atmosphere and the moon in the background fades from view. The planet's surface becomes visible and you're greeted by melancholy vocals as the enemy fleet throws all its renaming ships at you. Obscured by the darkness, Violent Ruler (your ultimate target and the mission objective) skitters across the background. Shortly afterwards the melancholy vocals change to a more foreboding section with intense percussion and then the sirens sound as the boss warning appears. I love it!

Ha, yeah, it's great.
It's a very lowkey and foreboding track, yeah. Very abstract, until the boss theme kicks in. I think it's a listenable track anyway though.

All the tracks are fantastic, but overall I definitely like stage D's track the most. I also like stage A's boss theme more than stage D's. Love those war drums (they're not really war drums I think but whatever~) and the harp that come in at the transition.

My tactic there is to have shockwave fully upgraded, this way you can easily kill everything as soon as it appears on the screen. It's also really good to speedkill the stage 4 boss.

Pretty damn far. When I started playing I went straight to CS mode and played it for about 25 hours. I've been dabbling in AC mode for the first time and all that boss practice in CS mode has really paid off. I remember when I thought Violent Ruler was hard and I don't think he's so bad now. >>
>>168895046
The game is actually pretty easy for AP standarts. It's their easiest so far imo. Mainly due to how OP shockwave is.

I think Wolflame is their hardest game.
>>
>>168893998
I find it hard to choose one I want to commit to
>>
>>168895282
On normal? No way took me like 4 runs to get to the final level there so unless there's a massive difficulty spike at the end it's a very easy game. I've already put two times more time into Zangeki Warp and I'm only halfway through the game, although maybe I'm just not using the shockwave right
>>
>>168895712
Not sure which is the hardest on normal, but on the harder difficulties Wolflame is just brutal. It's Raiden style brutal.

Zangeki Warp on the other hand is really easy once you use shockwave, even on the hardest difficulty. It's still a cool game though, and their best one after Satazius imo.

>I just think the general is too dead lately.
What do you expect from a genre that doesn't see any growth? The constant need to bump this general is a result of /vg/ being too fast, not these threads being too slow.
Also, do take into account that there are no preexisting puzzle/racing generals on /vg/ to merge with, so speed wouldn't pick up for a long time, and even if there was growth it would be so little the threads would still have to be constantly bumped. The only person who would benefit from such a "merge" is Cee, whom only wishes for this to happen so he can continue his fucking attention whoring here. In addition, the resulting "arcade general" would be nothing more than /vr/-lite with mandatory bumping, making its existence worthless since /vr/ exists. And if that's not enough to prove how retarded you're being, you should also take into account that "merging" the topics would result in a split between those who want to follow the proposed change and those who want to only discuss STGs, causing both communities to falter and die.
tl;dr: quit with this fucking nonsense, there is absolutely nothing that warrants changing the topic of this general. I've seen this kind of shit go down in slow generals before and it NEVER works out well.

So mad with Blue Revolver devs essentially abandoning the project 'because it didn't sell as good as we hoped, so we better focus on the next game'. Seriously you greedy lazy-ass fucks? You have a game that has such a great potential and is blessed with great ost and art. Put some effort in balancing and polishing, make it actually good. It's going to pay off too, the game is still fresh, there are potential buyers out there.

I really hope they will go bankrupt on their next project - and chances are they will with this attitude.
>>
>>168981658
Yeah I would've bought it if they hadn't abandoned it. It doesn't even have leaderboards?

Did they really expect a new game in a niche genre would sell huge numbers?

i doubt it, but abandoning the game is a very bad thing to do on it's own, shows that they never really cared about it. btw what is their next project?
>>
>>168983385
it's especially sad how they don't care about their game because that's like the one thing indiedevs can do better than companies
>>
abandoning is a fast way to burn any goodwill fans of the game might have towards them.

>currently, we're trying to get off the ground with our latest project. while we're very grateful to everyone who supported BR, it hasn't exactly made us rich - meaning we can't really devote much of our limited resources to developing an update currently. as we settle into a workflow and long-term plan for our next project, we can start making concrete decisions about what to scope and what to ditch for BR. so it would be dishonest of me to give an ETA right now.

The trend of releasing unfinished games and then finishing them only if they're successful is sort of ass. I've recently seen a few Kickstarters where they release the game unfinished and promise to do the rest of the goals as DLC. Don't worry the backers will get the DLC for free! What bullshit.
>>
>surprise great thing at the end of a long mission
end it all lads desu
>>
>>168989648
What's more is that the number is not a literal multiplier - a [25] is not 25 times as large of a vote as a [1], since there are two systems at work - weighted voting accounts for half of the game's final score, and being on a list at all accounts for the other half, so a [1] will have around 30-40% of the vote power of a [25].

Well, I'm pretty sure they'd have been disappointed either way. I have to wonder what kind of numbers they were aiming for. I can't believe they'd be foolish enough to expect hundreds of thousands or millions of sales for it, but like did BR bomb compared to the three Cave titles as well? Wouldn't really surprise me since they released it just a few days before DFK came out.

DFK numbers will rise by thousands once they drop the price a bit further. The same thing happened with the other Cave games. The casual credit feeder doesn't want to pay 30 bucks for 0.5 hours of game. I don't think blue revolver price cuts will lead to as much of an increase.

Blue Revolver is a 100% indie game, no brand behind it, no advertising, no name. How high can you really expect your sales to be? I'd imagine as an indie-dev you would be happy that you got to release your first commercial game and that it sold anything at all.

Oh, and if it's any consolation, she almost always tends to be the Deathsmiles girl that Mahou Otome distributes via event prize, while the rest of them are gacha prizes. I'll never win the contest, it's impossible. With such a weak score, never.

I tried hard, but I failed even harder. It just physically wasn't possible for me to do well. It was as though all my 130h of experience were completely gone. Just wasn't feeling it, wasn't immersed at all.
Couldn't beat that one CS mode mission, and did horribly in CGL and against G.T. every time. Didn't play ADH perfectly either.

These past three streams were such an embarrassment.

Managed to improve my ADH score by about 10 million on stream. Tried it once off-stream and couldn't do better than that. Not that it matters really as the contest has been over for longer than that, I think.

It's a shame I can't even be competitive in one of my favourite games.

Oh well... would've been cool but it was never likely.
I won't be streaming for a day or two at least. Need to recover from the fatigue and failure and combination thereof. It'll be the weekend then anyway, so it'll be better.

So you are trying to tell me, that doujin kusoge like Touhou or whatever is objectively better than classics like Gradius and R-Type because it has a "deeper" scoring system or what?

The scoring system is only a small part of these games. What really counts is the game as a whole and how big of an impact it had on the genre.

Only try-hards care so much about scoring systems. You also can have huge replayability without fancy scoring systems.

It's too unintuitive to learn the routes for it, since you can't just constantly keep an eye on the chaining metre. Most of the time you break a chain in this game, you don't even recognize it at first, that's how unintuitive the system is. It's no wonder most people just play the game for survival and don't give a shit about the chaining in it.

>That is what hardcore players want.
No, it is what try-hards want. Just because a game is difficult, doesn't mean it has to be good. There has to be a good balance, otherwise it's bad game design.

you'd have to be pretty terrible for that, or play for score, which is not something you are forced to do. imo getting a new PB is a lot more fun than clearing the game again, i can hardly imagine beating the game "consistently" being fun.
>It's why clowns like Gus still have to play their games with cheats although he already thousands of hours in it.
what cheats? and the reason why he plays it for that long is not difficulty, but the scoring potential. yeah he can't clear it consistently, but that's becouse once you start scoring for real playing for survival(to get a "consistent clear") is just not fun anymore regardless of the game.
>>
>>169177074
>you'd have to be pretty terrible for that, or play for score
In a good game you can play for score and still beat it consistently. Also, Cave games are made in a way where you play for score naturally after some time, otherwise the earlier levels become too boring.

It's the same with CCWI. It's a great game, because it has cool music, art design, etc, but it is so stupidly difficult, that it makes no fun anymore.

that's every game ever, not just cave shmups. even in some platformer you will memerunner through the first levels to make it less boring unless you are some low energy dad.
>He can't play with default extends, which is basically cheating
he only did it for some normalfag event becouse normalfags are unable to appreciate a good score, all they care about is a clear, no matter how shitty.
>And even then, he still is not able to clear it consistently, which is just pretty bad game design.
who the fuck cares about consitency, you clear any game once or twice and it's boring af to play if you don't impose some challenge on yourself, that's literally any game.
>because it has cool music, art design, etc, but it is so stupidly difficult, that it makes no fun anymore.
it's only as hard as you want it to be. type z clear is not that hard if you don't care about score too much, i.e. don't restart stage 1 over and over again.
>>
>>169177920
>that's every game ever, not just cave shmups
Nah not much you can do to make repeating levels in Gradius and R Type games fun
>>
>>169177920
>he only did it for some normalfag event
He did it everytime he played live, because he knows he can't clear the game otherwise. It has nothing to do with normalfags or whatever. When you play a game live on an event, then you also want to clear it. No shmup player will be satisfied otherwise, except perhaps you get a new PB which will most likely not happen.

>who the fuck cares about consitency
Any shmup player ever? It's what the genre is about. Being able to consistently play the game at a certain level.

>you clear any game once or twice and it's boring af to play
Just because you can clear a game, doesn't mean it can't have a scoring system, you know.

>type z clear is not that hard
It's also the only ship which makes the game doable. Every other ship makes the game difficult as fuck, which is just fucking retarded. It's a game made for 000.1% of shmup players, which is just stupid.
>>
>>169178539
>Any shmup player ever? It's what the genre is about. Being able to consistently play the game at a certain level.
I meant consistency as in clearing the game consistently which is what you claim is impossible after 500 hours, if you want that, it's not that hard, just forcus on making a survival route. but no, you have to get in top 10 and then bitch about difficulty, what the fuck.
>It's a game made for 000.1% of shmup players, which is just stupid.
i wonder why it's sold so well then, if you'll look at the scoreboard you'll see plenty of people who clear it with shit scores, high-level scoring is for the select few of course, but that's how it's supposed to be.
>>
>>169178539
Your posts boil down to you saying the games are bad design because their highest difficulty modes are actually very difficult. You're not even talking about the way the games handle difficulty and criticizing that. Instead you're just bitching that they're too hard even after an arbitrary amount of hours and you personally don't like it which is fine and all but don't try to make that complaint sound like anything more than whining by saying it's bad design
>>
>>169178847
>you have to get in top 10 and then bitch about difficulty, what the fuck.
You don't understand that in a good game, you can be top ten scorer, and still clear the game consistently.
These games are made to score in them. You said it yourself. It's what shmups are about. To reach new PBs. However, you also want to be able to clear the game consistently. It's also what they are about.

When you play the game for score, and this prevents you from clearing the game in the end, then that is bad game design.

>i wonder why it's sold so well then
It sold well on steam because it's cheap as fuck, in umpteens of bundles, and it's obviously well polished. However, when you actually play the game (which 99% of its playerbase does not), you start to wonder about the balancing in it. When I play a game for 500 fucking hours and I am in the top ten on the leaderboards, then I actually also want to be able to clear the game. However, with CCWI, that is not the case, even if your score is not even half of the WR. It's fucking bad game design for fucking try.hards. Nothing else.
>>
my god, one mistake ruined top score
>>
>>169178971
>Your posts boil down to you saying the games are bad design because their highest difficulty modes are actually very difficult
I am talking not just about Mushihimesama Ultra, I am talking about Cave games in general. Sure, you also can play these games without scoring in mind, and they become much easier, but when you play a shmup, and actually like the game, then you just start scoring naturally.

>you are just whining
No, I am just not a member of the 0.001% of players these games apparently pander to. For these 0.001% of players, the games may be perfect, but for everyone else, they are too difficult.

If one of these 0.0001% of players would play an easy game, then they most likely also will dislike it, because it is too easy for them. It's no secret that Cave panders to a very niche audience. They pander to hardcore scorers and waifufags. I am not one of them, that's why I dislike their game design and think it's bad. Good game design is a bit more open minded than this.
>>
>>169179113
>When you play the game for score, and this prevents you from clearing the game in the end, then that is bad game design.
The fuck? Scoring well always makes survival harder, the entire idea of scoring is that it's high risk high reward as opposed to pure survival play where you minimize risk to survive. It's a tradeoff, you either maximize your scoring potential but make the game more difficult for yourself or you maximize your survival potential and end up with a shit score. What is even the opposite of this, how the hell can scoring well make survival easier besides getting extends a bit earlier (which doesn't even matter that much since most games have a strict limit on the amount of extends you can have)?
>>

>To reach new PBs. However, you also want to be able to clear the game consistently. It's also what they are about.
You can do both if you just give yourself some breathing room, i.e. don't restart stage one over and over and up having a massive score from stage 1, but instead improve on stage 1 slowely as you progress in the game overall. i never restart stage 1 yet my score on it gets bigger and bigger. of course you are free to restart all you want but don't blame the devs.
> then I actually also want to be able to clear the game
you already did it. and nobody gives a shit about what some westie that didn't play for decades wants.
>>169179463
>then you just start scoring naturally.
scoring naturally doesn't have to mean restarting over and over again to max your stage 1 score, but just improving your score a little along the way. not to mention that the most natural way is to beat the game first, then think about getting a higher score when you beat it next time, but not overdoing it. just how fucking dense you are. i give up on arguing with you, though i respect your score.

>>
>>169179505
>Scoring well always makes survival harder
Of course it does, but in Cave games it makes survival impossible, except you are exceptionally talented.
In games like Ikaruga for example, top ten scorers clear the game with a no-miss, but in Cave games, they are happy if they can even clear the game.
If you play a game for so long, that you are in the top ten, then you deserve to be able to no-miss the game. In Cave games however, being in the top ten means nothing, except for having a decent score.

You will try to score naturally but that doesn't mean losing all sense and stubbornly trying to pull off routes that kill you constantly. You need to know when to stick to safer strategies if you're trying to survive, it's a tradeoff.

Harrys score is not even half of the WR in the game. However, if you want a decent score, you have to make the game this difficult.

Of course it doesn't have to be superplayer difficult, but if you want anything more than half the WR, it becomes just stupidly difficult.

And that's the same with every other Cave game. If you want anything more than half the scoring potential, then the game becomes a clusterfuck.

I am not biting off more than I can chew. I am just playing with score in mind. Which is what shmups are about. However scoring in Cave games is so difficult, that as soon as you play with score in mind, you can call yourself lucky if you will ever clear the game, which is bad game design imo.

You don't even have any idea about the game. You don't know what it's like playing it. Me not being able to clear it, has not that much to do with my score. I do not play that much for score. I don't even have half of the WR in it ffs. My score in it is basically garbage.

And it's not just me who has problems clearing the game. Even players like DKA for example, who is still way better than me and even plays with fucking Type Z, still can't clear the game consistently.

It's stupid game design, nothing else
>>
>>169181604
What is a "minimum score"? It's a random number. It being a certain percentage of the WR doesn't mean anything, it can still be too difficult for you. Minimal scoring is when you go for relatively low difficulty routes. Something like increasing your Ketsui first loop score from 70 million to 100+ is minimal scoring. You have to know how the system works and apply your knowledge but it's still very doable. You're given a lot of control over how difficult you make the games, picking a random number, calling it a minimum score and trying to reach it will just create frustration.

Once you have a PB, you want to keep improving this, and not play worse.
In Ikaruga for example, I could use decent routes, and still be able to clear the game. Which is how it should be. Not this try hard bullshit, where only superplayers and kusoge players are allowed to clear the game.

No, it's a fact. If you make a game so difficult that only 0.001% of the people can clear it, then this is bad game design.

And most people who play shmups don't even play them seriously anyway. They play them for 2 hours at max and then move on to another game. So don't tell me "it's what the audience wants".

Those who actually play Cave seriously, are like 0.1% of its customers. The audience doesn't even have a clue about these games.
>>
>>169185507
>then this is bad game design.
No. It means you're unskilled, not the target audience, or both.
>>
>>169185507
this can drag on forever, you are hopeless, senpai.
>>
>>169185848
It's bad game design in the same sense as a game which is too easy has bad game design.
If the developer is so stupid to let the player clear the game by merely sitting in a corner or whatever, then this is bad game design. If the developer is so stupid to throw so many bullets at the player that only few people can clear it, then this is also bad game design.
>>
sigh.....
>>
>>169186030
A game being too easy is bad because it's unengaging mindless busywork, a game being too difficult isn't bad in itself you can still have a lot of fun with it unless you only derive fun from clearing games and reaching arbitrary scores
>>
>>169186305
It's not as bad as being too easy, but it's still bad.
It's common sense that developers also pay attention to not make the game too difficult.
Cave however doesn't give a shit about being too difficult or not. They just throw a shitton of bullets at the player, give him some bombs, and call it a day.
>>
>>169186643
It's common sense to make games fair and have a decent learning curve but beyond that devs are free to make games as difficult as they please. CAVE games have a good learning curve, there's nothing ridiculous until the second loops and scoring is not only optional since you're gonna get those extends either way but also allows you to choose how much risk you want to put up with on the fly. There's literally no reason why giving additional challenge to players seeking it is bad design unless you feel entitled to clear everything in a game without too much effort which is a cancerous mentality that killed difficult games in the first place

Playing for score is subjective. However, even if you think you play for score, you are still objectively bad at the game if you only get half of the scoring potential.

>Lmao Cee completely sperg'd out about this too
Always makes me chuckle when some fool (usually you) can't read my humour mixed with with genuine sentiment. I will try to explain it to you though, being an expert does not make you trustworthy it merely means you know your field but how and to what ends you use that "authority" is down to the individual for example Dr harold shipman was an expert no? yet he abused his expertise and trust to murder over a hundred people. In the case of brexit or any political issue the sad fact is everything has become politicized and money+bias has lead to severe corruption thus many "experts" have likewise abused the positions they hold for other motives fueled by self interest. You are genuinely far to unintelligent to think analytically and thus dumb everything down to black and white even when you don't realize you're doing it.

>>169206438
Good lord what IS this utter nonsense infact fuck it i'm not going to entertain such drivel. I will divulge this however last year i had a bizarre outbreak of rash all over after 2 gps falsely assumed it to be an allergic reaction I figured out by myself using good old fashion intuition and logical deduction that i actually had a typically one off condition called pityriasis rosea which was confirmed by an apparently more competent medical professional later. Honestly i have no idea how you consistently perceive in such utterly bizzare and deeply false manner, you can't read wit, you can't understand rationale thinking, you blindly trust experts without ever asking a question, you keep applying the same weird stereotype over and over again that doesn't even have a thread so one can only assume you are not a very bright person at all.

Yes it's subjective that's the point, you're in full control of it and therefore in full control of the difficulty. You don't turn on a switch to make the game batshit hard when you decide to increase your score, it's usually an organic smooth process of constant improvement. Unless you try to copy superplays in order to meet some high score you have in mind but in that case you really don't have a right to complain about the games being frustrating since the difficulty is your own fault.

This would mean you are not allowed to ever reach a new PB once you played for score too much. You would be always forced to play worse in order to be able to beat the game. Which is fucking dumb game design.

I don't think there is such a thing as too difficult with Cave games and CCWI. They're made for an audience that enjoys that sort of thing.

They are definitely meticulously designed to the smallest detail, but is it good design if it's not intuitive, and perhaps not even beatable without almost-machine-like level of execution? That's a question for the ages.

No, it's not good design. Just like a game which is too is not good designed. It's basically the same. It's why Clover-TAC used a female playtester for his game. because he wanted to make sure the game is beatable by everyone. However, somehow the game is still way too difficult.

Exactly. That's who it's for and it's well designed for them. It's not designed for you.

However, seems like he were not able to do this, that's why the game has flawed design.

These 0.001% of players is usually what the scoring system is there for, not the survival aspect. However Cave try hards make it so that even superplayers have a hard time clearing the game.

You also can make a game challenging for hardcore players, without turning the last level into a resource dump, you know. You usually just do it by making a good scoring system for them.

What's a decent score for you, 80/90% of wr? Then yeah of course you have to grind a lot for that, but if you want like 70% you need way less than 1000 hours

Kraut feels entitled to a certain percentage of a WR without the work that goes into it and gets asspained when confronted with the fact that shit's not easy.

There are some changes in some stages and mechanics.

WI version:
- Bosses don't drop extends.
- You can't cancel lasers with a full lock on, Unlimited mode only.
- Less invicibility frames while Breaking and Double Breaking.
- Some changes in enemies formations on Stage 2, after Stage 3 Midboss, Stage 4 and Stage 5.
- Reworked patterns and reworked TLB.
- Early stages give more points.

If I missed anything go read Bananamatic's unfinished guide.

nesica is harder also, for killing some enemies need much more damage

Today in practice I made it through Hades Castle with Death Mode Lv3 for the first time without bombing (until the boss). Progress!

The Tyrannosatan fight on Death Lv3 has more differences than I had initially thought. Granted I didn't see every attack he has, but some things I noticed:

1. That thing he does after his initial volley, where he holds his hands out and summons a bunch of bullets to home in on your position. On Death Lv3, he summons way more of them, which will almost certainly wall you in unless you misdirect them properly and then get out of the way.

2. His infamous box-spam attack spawns way more bullets than usual if you shoot the boxes. This makes it more difficult to brute force your way through, and bombing through it is now impractical. Better learn to do it for real.

3. After the first part of his body explodes, that attack pattern where he traps you between his hands spawns bullets from both sides of the screen at once. I forget if it was like this in the regular fight but I think it only fired from one side at a time.

3. During his head-and-spine phase, any bubbles he shoots out will explode into bullets if you destroy them. No real way around this one, just gotta deal with it or bomb.

At least Jitterbug seems the same aside from his new second phase, which is cheesable anyways But I tend to fuck it up because some of the bullets cut it REALLY close and sometimes I lose my nerve and get out of the way, but that takes me out of the safe lane.

Stream's over. It took me about a week to 1cc this on Menace. The score may be shit, but I'm satisfied with the performance on the 1cc run. Just before doing the 1cc run, I remembered that I could just record it without streaming, considering that this game is less demanding than DU2 was, but whatever. At least it's recorded and I've achieved my goal for this game.

Thanks for watching.

>>169318262
>you play in tate?
Never played in tate.

>also what resolution
The default one (800x600). I used a program called ResizeEnabler during the streams, so that I could make the game window bigger and it would also make it easier to look at the chat and access OBS.

I bought it a couple of months before Deathsmiles came out on Steam, so my drive to play shmups hadn't yet been rekindled at that point.

Plus everyone wouldn't shut up about how amazing it is, but I should know better to fall for that. I didn't dislike Undertale but I feel it's no more than just a decent game with a somewhat unique concept or two.
>>
>>169326104
I did a pacifist run as my first one and then never touched it again. It was fun, but I don't think it was as bad or as good as people make it out to be. I have no idea how it got such a big fanbase.
