Because back during the alpha tech tests, Valkyrie was insanely, legitimately overpowered. She had a giant bag of tricks and boatloads of power and speed. It was so bad that she required a day-one balance patch in the alpha before she was ultimately removed for rebalancing, forcing the devs to formally apologize for allowing her to be as strong as she was. She's back now, and she still has her big bag of tricks, but now her base statistics are so bad that she can't really do anything substantial.
According to the update notes posted on Reddit, it's clear that Valkyrie was overnerfed, so they're going to buff her up to a reasonable, but hopefully not oppressive, level.

After a bit of experimenting though, I found it useful if I plan exactly when to use it, and dodge a slow attack with it for the quick double tap that it gives you. I also sometimes use it for a free kick when someone is being a defensive faggot.

you can cheese just about anything with unblockable ability, but switch to defense as raider. seriously, switch to the passive defense. it is NOT worth taking unblockable on every attack when you already have a neutral unblockable and it will save you so much trouble.

once you get to 30% passive defense raider becomes literally immortal as long as you block 1 in 4 hits.

might even be worth it before then at 15%, or later on samurai, or hell just use it on every single hero it's so strong.

I play almost exclusivley play LB and the way I win most of my fights is by parrying the shit out of everyone and giving them the guranteed light attack to the face every time and when they are about to be exhausted Í use the overhead unblockable you get after a parry.

It's not a true combo or lock, but it's a pseudo-50-50 because the enemy has to:

1. Time the guard break perfectly, they can't just spam it

His main combo is chaining together his shove into guard break to a heavy, then another shove into a guardbreak into a heavy, repeat as needed. When low on Stamina do the long arm to flip them over and get a free light hit on the ground, or another guard break.

Past that there are a few special things for him.
your lights are much faster out of block
Shove counts as the start of a chain (meaning you can shove, heavy, heavy and the second heavy is your unblockable)
After a guard break only your overhead heavy is blockable, instead use a side heavy.
Parry will give you a lot of options, but the charge is easily blocked or dodges, and the unblockable is only really workable if your parry knocked the enemy down. Try the light riposte (it will block any attacks on you during it, so it's a good option when 2v1) or a guard break instead. A guard break after a parry cannot be teched, at least not by mere mortals.

Shugoki's super armor means that the first hit he takes won't interrupt his attack. If you do a Heavy as Shugoki and I hit you with a light attack before the heavy finishes (or if I throw out my own heavy and you fire off one in the wrong direction to parry) your attack won't be interrupted.
This means you can trade favorably with just about anyone in the game.
It's not a damage reduction or anything, it just means its a lot harder to disrupt a Shugoki.
Of course if you throw your retaliation heavy out too late and the guy gets off another light you're kinda fucked.

They would need ducking animations for dodge, which would need to take into account all hitboxes about to hit you. It'd be really hard and unnecessary. Just learn the iframes and hitboxes and shit.

Only other easy change would be to tint the character model when dodging so you know when they're dodging.
