The problem with this is that most of the times the games/launchers create new folders in /User or /Documents to store settings and such.
So it might delete your settings by uninstalling but that shouldn't be much trouble to set up again, considering the download is what takes up most of the time.

Seems to have worked just fine by just copying to E, unistalling from C, and starting the installer on E, almost immediately launched after that. Settings and all were still there, it asked me if I wanted to delete my save, which I'd guess would also delete my settings.

The ones in IV would actually look for you in an area, they're posted in places of importance or high density areas (Airports and subway, etc), The police was just great in IV, fun enough that having shoot outs with them was great.

in V? aswell as Online? Fuck no, a little ass tap to your rare bumper is considered a pit, even if you're driving a bus, affects every vehicle but tank and insurgent i think.
They constantly spawn in front of you because they cannot keep up, you can't outrun them because sometimes they rubber band. They're aimbots, a pistol can take down a gunship, fuck no, fuck that.
Cool thing is SWAT, they would toss tear gas or something, and actually attempt to flank you.

Some special things:
5-star in 3D universe was cool as shit with the FBI, where they would come as squat and just fuck your shit up with SMGs.
6-star in San Andreas was badass, as they actually sent hydras after you if you were in aircraft.

Can't speak for the 2D universe.

My dream for GTA VI's single-player - if it even HAS a single-player - is that it keeps the HD universe's five-star system, and then in the final mission the game pulls out a six-star on you as a way to show through game mechanics that shit really has gotten that damned real. i say SA mostly because they kept a neat attention to detail and a pretty wide variety. for example, you had LSPD, SFPD, LVPD, even the county sheriff having their own jurisdiction. but that's the most I can say for it, because while they were fun, it's mostly like >>168618197 said

as for IV, the LCPD (and alderney state police though they don't get their own cars) are my favorite of all the games. in IV, you see them doing things they'd actually do. that is, stuff like chasing down suspects, standing guard at places that the actual NYPD would do like historical places, being very common around populated districts like star junction (in the case of real life, times square), and transportation centers like the airport and metro. hell, the ones guarding the high-density areas have little touches done to make them different, like holding M4s rather than just a pistol. though, I think GTA V may have done the same thing, i'm not too sure about that.

their intelligence in IV is pretty alright too, they don't get pissed off and arrest you/start shooting at you for standing next to them for more than 6 fucking seconds, and actually try to 'negotiate' with the player/niko with their voice lines (like telling the player/niko to drop their weapon if they're aiming at them, trying to tell the player/niko to calm down, etc.) which i thought was a cool touch. tangentially, the cops in GTA 4 had some of a 'personality' to them, I feel. maybe im being super autistic with this, but it seems like there was a bit more variety with the LCPD, different sets of voice lines, accents based on their nationality, etc. hell, even the fat cops had a bit of character thrown into them. though i'll say that the alderney cops also sounded pretty much the same all the way through

going onto V, i'll just put it like this; the cops seem like they were thrown in last minute or just unfinished, and just given an arcade-y feel. again, like >>168618197
had put it, the most they have to do is tailgate you a bit then activate their 2-second nitro speed boost to give you a little tap on the bumper and bam you're in a ditch. as i previously mentioned, you get a one star wanted level for standing next to a cop for more than 6 seconds, there's no negotiation with them, and as for personality rockstar really went for the 'generic thug cop' to cover all of the LSPD, and on that subject, all of the cops sound just about the same. i'm not sure if they just recycled lines read off by one guy, or if they got two guys to read off the same lines, but i can't differ any of them from the other, and it's pretty much the same with the sheriff's department in blaine county, though i'll give it to GTA V that rockstar remembered to actually give the deputies different cars than the LSPD this time around.

as i said before, V's cops are just unfinished. the best way i can point this out is look at all the shit rockstar gave the cops that the cops NEVER actually use. check out the police cruiser for GTA V in >>168614196 , it's never actually used unless you go to the police station yourself and force one of the on-foot cops that spawn in to break into it to chase you, or unless you mod the game to make them use it. no, instead the LSPD uses the generic 'POLICE' car with no LSPD markings whatsoever, the one that looks like a toy ford interceptor. they even get an unmarked car you see used during the game's story, they even introduce the FIB with actual characters, but the FIB NEVER uses the unmarked police car outside of like two story missions. hell, the FIB doesn't ever make an appearance out of the story as for that matter, not even at six stars, and cops don't use armored trucks that much anymore
