Healing in FFXIV basically involves learning a bosses rotation and timing your heals based on this set rotation.
Coming from WoW you won't find healing to be reactive or fast paced.

honestly if it's your first class, just enjoy the game how you want to, yeah it'll be a bit slow to do the quests as a healer, but you'll have faster dungeon queues which will partially make up for it, and like another anon said, once you get cleric it's not that bad and whm does pretty high damage played correctly (while they have mana)

Don't let anyone scare you away from healer. It's incredibly easy. There's only 3 or 4 fights/dungeons that will likely give you trouble. The rest you'll be so bored waiting on mobs to die that you'll be trying to DPS to speed it up.

Because there's no other jobs that can be tank in the Square Enix lineup. If Samurai is DPS that's it. Samurai is the last job that can wear heavy armor they have that hasn't been merged together with something. Beastmaster is the only job outside of heavy armor tanking that can be a tank because of pet tanking. They have 0 plans on releasing puppetmaster.
There's still mage classes available to make healers and you can literally make anything a brainless DPS class so there's no limits but tank isn't an easy role to fill. With how dull tanking is if there's nothing new for tank players it's going to stagnate. Enjoy a game where every future dungeon is like Palace of the dead so you don't need a specific job and everyone can play DPS.

you should know better than to think that will ever happen, given how hilariously easy it would be to cheese mechanics with a pet tank. as a beastmaster tank, i can tell you with absolute certainty the human would be the one doing the tanking.
i'd not be totally against such a thing (in fact it wouldn't be the end of the world if they wore plate and just had their traditional AF), but it's definitely a stretch to say Samurai and Beastmaster are the ONLY things left that can ever tank. Viking could just as easily be a 1H Hammer+Shield thunder tank. I've heard convincing arguments for Blue Mage in the form of a Tank, and while they're not my favorite they're not too outlandish. Same goes for some manner of Spear+Shield holy Templar.
