Just use EXP cards to level. Since there's an event on you're best off just doing event quests though, and leave leveling for after. Of course if you need to level to actually do the quests then do that first.

Keep a NP5 copy of all the 1, 2 and 3* you get, because :
- some of them are better than not-top-tier golds
- some event require specific servants and it's handy to have them levelled to be not totally useless

It isn't really much like Dark Souls at all outside of the "if you die you lose the souls you need to level up" mechanic. It plays super fast, faster than Bloodborne, it pretty much plays like Ninja Gaiden. Also it has Diablo's equipment system. Personally I find it to be a 10/10, but I'm a DS fag so I'm a bit bias.
