It's not about that. They are buffs to some of the already strongest classes in the game, thus hurting class balance and weapon balance. Soldier's Half-Zatochi for example never gets used because Disciplinary Action and Escape Plan are too good to pass up

mentioning the counterplay is like saying to someone "just dodge scout and shoot him with your gun when he drinks critacola". obviously no weapon in tf2 is without counterplay, but that doesn't make it balanced

Test-running a weapon from the Mann Co. Store for the first time will give the player a contract for that weapon. Completing this contract will give the user a normal-quality version of that weapon.

Bonesaw and Amputator aren't "too weak", how do you justify that?

It's exactly as strong as the melee weapons of 6 other classes, and even when Medic only had the Bonesaw back in the early days of competitive TF2, he was still the single most VITAL class on any team.

It's not like Medic relies on having Ubersaw to be viable-- he's already the best class in the game.

There's no reason why we shouldn't nerf Ubersaw instead of buffing all the other options, which would take more time and effort.

I don't like this because it's literally the downside of the Amputator.

The point of weapon unlocks is variety, so my advice is give it a downside that no other Medic melee weapon currently has.

Still doesn't balance the weapon. The entire reason Escape Plan isn't balanced now is because you can simply choose to never pull it out except when it's most advantageous for you, and avoid all the downsides the rest of the time.

Escape Plan needs a passive downside to be balanced.

What's the point? If the overheal was a bit slower to fade it would be nice but it seems to drop after a few seconds.
Maybe a passive resistance on damage or something. Like the sandvich recharges health, the buffalo gives a speed/melee boost, but the chocolate just gives a small buff.

Don't think it would make much of a difference. Medic pretty much only uses it when he's in melee engage range and almost guaranteed to land a hit. Also, it would completely cease to be a downside if you'd just finished an Uber or hadn't built any yet.

It needs a bigger risk than that to offset its reward.

How would one go about telling if Skial is faking player counts? I had a player on here tell me that it happens and show me a screenshot from the server browser, but I don't know how to replicate it.

If there are less than 12 people on a server, the server adds bots. If there are even less people, the server has a few bot accounts connect to it to make it seem like they're real players, trying to fool people with cosmetics and non-stock weapons
Aside from rule of thumb, there is no way to know how many players are bots in skial until you connect. Generally, if the browser says that there's 6/10 people on, most of those are bots
