Hammer is cool, but it's generally slower and less powerful than GS- it's main draw is providing decent protection to a stacked group.
If you're doing PvE I'd suggest using Sword or Scepter though, since they're quicker and still put out decent cleave/AoE damage. Though if I'm entirely honest, it doesn't matter at all what you use for leveling, so go with whatever you like.

GW2 has a F2P option, so you can try that out first and see if you want to actually put in any money. GW2's glory days are behind it though, and all new content is for people with the expac so you basically can trial some content, then you need to buy to actually do anything worth doing, and then I hope you're into raids, PvP or aimless roaming in PvE open world because there is Z E R O other content.

ESO is a much better game. Their devs realized what a shitheap their game was and fixed it, and put out content at a much better pace with much more substance, in addition to having a dungeon scene that isn't a 3+ year old rotting corpse.

Everyone was so hyped for swim suit outfits back then, just a few months after launch. Anet had basically made everything NPC's wear available to players, and they were pretty greedy with the gemshop as well even back then, so it was a safe bet that we'd have access to swim suits, even if they were 1000 gems on the gemshop.

Soon after that was when we learned that actually, Anet hates money. The models were already in game, and there was a precedence for it.. but Anet just fucking refused to give it to the players.

Later a fully made, high quality race specific school uniform outfit was found while datamining the game. The item preview codes were in the game, everyone could preview it. Again the players rightfully assumed that we'd be getting this ready made outfit. That's when again, we found out that Anet hates money, as they never did release this already made outfit that many people wanted.

There must be some sort of SJW law Anet is following or something, that says that swim suits and school uniforms are evil or something.

I live in Europe and don't know how easy it is for you over there. But nevertheless, you bought a good addon.
I bought it for 30 or 35€ and had a blast. The maps are packed with things, the detail is much higher and the events are fun to go through. It has also a much better story than the original, in GW terms.
If you plan on buying the new LS maps, buy the Fire Isles one. Skip the icy one, it is shit and was deserted fast. Or buy it the last or something if you want items from it. The first one was quite cool too, bloostone crater.

It's cool that there's a lot of callbacks to GW1 characters and lore in this LW ep. I was just wandering in Lake Doric and came across another player doing an event which led us into that gated area at the south of the map. There were graves inside of a bunch of characters I remember from GW1. Haven't had time to do the raid, but I hear there's a big lore bomb in there too related to GW1. I'd guess that the raid story is so much better BECAUSE it is not Anet's main focus. Whatever their main focus is, they're going to shit up because they'll have some sort of internal fight about how much SJW should they put into the story, while completely ignoring the quality of the story and lore while they ponder the SJW question. The raid team is more so left to their own devises, and without the oppressive oversight of Anet full gaze, the story and lore is fantastic.

In terms of story, Scarlet dies and awakens an elder dragon, expac2 happens where we go kill it, now there's all this excess magic in the world, whitle mantle blow up the bloodstone in bloodstone fen, "lazarus" is back, caudecus is in cahoots with the mantle, jormag/primordus are both awake now and making moves.

The current chapter involves more white mantle attacks against the queen and you are gonna deal with it.
