Carthus and pontiff CS can compete with follower since the nerf.
Pyros can use GFS and plenty of dark weapons, that's like calling MLGS broken. Onyx isn't the best GS.

Unless you are at very high SLs, every rapier that's not quills doesn't exist, you can't even consider them as a choice, they're compketely irrelevant.

See the difference? Quills are killing a whole class which those two aren't

Most of my characters have 40 str or 40 dex. Nothing is wrong with the sharp/heavy infusion. I like the infusion system as it allows melee characters to grow more in terms of damage. And it allows str builds to utilize dex weapons and vice versa.

It's not though. CCS has only slightly less damage, but it's bigger and has bleed. Follower has the WA, but since the nerf the damage isn't that big, it still is parriable and is very easy to punish if they R2 without landing the first part. Pontiff has slightly less damage than both(at lower SLs it's higher sometimes) but it's huge and the WA has a decent delay.
Follower sabre isn't the only CS for sure since the others DO offer something over it.

Quills beats all other rapiers very hard and will usually sit at a good 40 ar ahead of estoc always unless at very high SLs, only it and the other two weapons I complained about hurt the class so badly nothing ekse us relevant. Follower never gets so much stronger than other CS at any SL

You need one to get access to Ruin Sentinels.
There's another after Dragonrider that leads to either Undead Bone Shard or Estus Shard.
One required in the Gutter, another in Black Gulch that leads to a bonfire right before Rotten (also where Lucatiel's summon sign is for her quest).
One for Ornifex, another for Vengarl's body, and another one or two more in the area for optional goodies.
One for Dragon Aerie.

Those are the important ones that come to mind.
