Pyromancy is the easiest scaling school of casting in DaS2, if you specialize in any school then you will literally be almost at the soft cap for Pyromancy as well. The problem comes in that a lot of stuff can easily resist Fire damage, and the Black Knight weapons, which deal innate Fire damage, have Faith requirements so you can't use them on a Sorcery character.
>>
>>168165347
It's not strictly necessary. There are others, and in the long run it won't make taat much a difference

Buffs were ridiculously overused both in 1 and 2 so they finally took a major dump on them and i'm glad, honestly. Less faggots to kite for a minute because their estoc can poke for a third of your lifebar.

But with duel charms it wouldn't really be necessary to nerf buffs right? It's not you have time to buff when you get invaded. Also annoying that quite a few rings become shit.
>>
>>168165765
might as well start over then. this time you'll know where you need to go
>>
>>168165765
Here are some tips:

1. Watch your stamina bar. Good stamina management is half the game.
2. Count the number of hits it takes to kill something
3. If you're thinking of taking a risk, don't. Back off. Regroup, think carefully.
4. Level up. Leveling up will increase your defense across the board no matter what you level up in, so leveling strength/dexterity
5. Clear everything behind you. Don't run past areas.
6. READ THE NUMBERS. Learn what they do. Check your math. This is a very numbers-heavy game.
7. Take it slow. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Avoid damage, block as much as you can, learn to kill enemies without taking hits. If you see enemies rushing at you, back away into a safer area.
>>
>>168166202
duel charms are limited and in ds3 you can rebuff a shitload more times than in previous games because of faster animations, unfaltering prayer and FP system
they needed to gut damage too

Enchanted infusion gives you magic-scaling physical damage. So if you have an enchanted zweihander, it will be identical to a normal zweihander (pure physical, same damage) except it will have C scaling with INT instead of Str/Dex.

Blue Flame is an easy drop about 60-70% of the way through the game. It's 1H R2 casts spells and it can be buffed (which increases spell damage). Watcher GS is a boss soul weapon (NG). Sorceror's Twinblade and Ice Rapier are from the DLC. An early boss (Dragon rider) also gives you a few native magic weapons.

Also, you can use an item (bonfire ascetics) to move a single bonfire to NG+, which is how you get the Old Paledrake Soul for MLGS. Everything else you would want for a sorceror can be obtained without ascetics.

Also, if you don't know where to go, this path gets you most of the best sorceror's stuff in the game:

>Heide's Tower (dragonrider equipment)
>No Man's Wharf (spell merchant)
>Lost Bastille (2nd spell merchant + boss soul trader. Trade 4 souls to get the best magic armor)
>Sinner's Rise

>Unpetrify Rosabeth, go to Shaded Woods
>Shaded Woods (Lion Mage Cuffs)
>Door's of Pharros
>Brightstone Cove (Staff of Wisdom, + 2nd boss soul trader)

Then warp back to majula
>Huntsman's Copse (Soul Spear. 3rd spell/hex merchant. If your Int/Fth are at least 20/20, (you can respec with a soul vessel) you get the hexer hood)

Then do anything else you want until you can use an ascetic on Brightstone Cove for MLGS.

That puts you at about 40% done with the game but with all the best sorceror equipment unlocked.

>>168165765
You should buy titanite shards at the Blacksmith and upgrade your weapons. While the other guy is right about leveling up being useful, it's even more useful in my opinion to upgrade weapons at the start.
>>
>>168167779
Sorceries have higher damage multipliers and spell castings with the exception of a few hexes (like climax and resonant weapon). Still better than hexes for PvE. Hexes are better once you reach Drangleic but get worse again for the DLC.

The differences between the two builds aren't really in the stats, but in the spell and item choices. Damage is going to be the same either way but the spells you use will vary a lot. You're heavily sacrificing spell damage below 50 INT or FTH since that's what the best catalysts have, that utility isn't really worth it.

For example, here's comparing the offensive base damage for each elemental type at 30/30 vs 50/5

Dark: 30/30: 530 Dark, 330 Magic, 358 Lightning
Magic: 50/5: 0 Dark, 514 Magic, 0 Lightning
Lightning: 5/50: 0 Dark, 0 Magic, 504 Lightning

For the same power, Lightning does the most against enemies weak to it (aka, ~half of the bosses), Sorcery does the most when you apply buffs and is the only one with physical options (enchanted), Dark does better in the other situations.

So by going dark, yes, you can cast SOME spells and SOME miracles (but not the best ones) and your damage is halved, even if you use 3 different casting tools for each one. If you're going to go dark, go pure hexer. There's no benefit trying to be a jack of all trades unless you're willing to go all the way to 50/50, but by then you're sacrificing tons of health and stamina for more casting options, which doesn't make sense.

I simply meant that 30/30 (or 40/40 if I'm willing to push it that far) is fine for melee weapons with some elemental or enchanted infusions
>Hexes are better once you reach Drangleic but get worse again for the DLC.
See that's the thing, I read that hexes become worse in the DLC but that they aren't nearly as utterly fucked as sorceries. Doesn't pretty much everything resist magic in the DLCs?
With a 30/30 hexer build you can choose between attacking enemies with dark spells or a dark infused weapon, pyromancy or a fire infused weapon, or a pure physical enchanted weapon
>Sorcery does the most when you apply buffs and is the only one with physical options (enchanted)
That's just not true, a split build will have almost the same damage on enchanted weapons, especially if you decide to go up to 40/40

>>168167779
Something else I didn't mention: Healing miracles do not scale with your faith stat or lightning damage. So for faith it's best to level up just enough to meet the requirements for whatever spells you want to cast, since only offensive miracles and timed buffs scale.

If you want pure utility (lots of options) then aim for 20/20 then 50/20. Use staff of wisdom, sunset staff, and a dark infused chime (which can cast miracles too). That way you get high magic, fire, and dark defense from the Fth investment and access ~80% of the good faith miracles (support and healing, which do not depend on your Fth stat unlike DS1).
>>
>>168170029
Physical damage and health regen. And in DaS1 it was split between phsical and magical with a modifier to unholy enemies.
>>
>>168169801
Everything resists magic in the DLC but Int is better because you have enchanted infusion, which gives you heavy physical damage without respecing your stats, and lets you continue to cast spells.

Basically, all magic does 20-30% less damage in the DLC than it does in the main game. Main game resistances are 200 to 400, DLC is 300 to 600.
>>
>>168170029

I'd just like to reiterate, and be very clear here: If I do end up doing a hex build, I don't want to cast gimped shitty versions of sorceries or miracles, I would purely cast pyromancies and hexes and maybe use an enchanted weapon for physical if I run into too many resistances
>>168170295
>but Int is better because you have enchanted infusion
I feel like I'm going insane here
Let me repeat myself once again: a 30/30 build has 30 INT
That won't do a significantly lower amount of damage with an enchanted infused weapon than a 50 INT build. And I could always take it up to 40/30 if I somehow end up feeling like 30 INT is not enough for an enchanted weapon

BKUGS belongs to low high tier because of 1400 HP combo that is relatively easy to hit people with.
Lorian UGS is one of the best UGS as well, more stat-efficient than anything in the class while having moveset of propaned ugs.
Cleric candlestick is really not in the same class as broken ss, that one belongs to you died tier.
>>
>>168171018
Sounds like you need to git gud at IRL before you worry about gitting gud at DS3. I mean I get waiting for a game to drop in price but if it's really bothering you, it's only forty fucking dollars.

>BKUGS belongs to low high tier because of 1400 HP combo that is relatively easy to hit people with.

It is not 'relatively easy' when the blade needs to be hitting them halfway through it for it to have a chance to hit when the main draw of vertical UGS is their spacing ability from a distance. From my experience landing that combo on both ends is unreliable against people who don't just walk into UGS weapons. There are practical combos for many other weapons above it.

Lorian's is stat efficient but is still split damage, it lacks the pure physical damage of Propaned on a quality build or the damage of a buffed Lothric Knight GS. It's still good but it falls slightly short of the those which is why it's there.

Cleric Candlestick is really bad but the fact that it has a straight sword moveset and not exactly 0 damage means it's not absolutely godawful. As a spell-casting tool it's the worst of the casting weapons by far but it can at least do that albeit badly.

Tier list maker, the top 3 for halberds are my opinions on best. BKH due to its ability to do the R1>L2>R1 combo while having better range than Lucerne with more consistent damage. Gundyr's for being a single-stat weapon that is also one of the longer halberds and has one of the strongest trading WA in the game. And RHH for being a powerful mainhand that works well with Perseverance, and has great elemental scaling for non-physical builds.

Poise is not pointless in DaS3 but Perseverance is different from regular poise in 3. Perseverance works well on RHH though because its fast pokes allow it to WA and poke to punish if you can predict hits on you. The great range and damage on RHH even without that though would still make it a terrific weapon. Hint, 1HR1s for RHH and the basic Halberd are slightly faster than regular ones.

Sunlight Talisman has better scaling and will do more damage with miracles. I think its WA is a lot stronger, too. The regular Talisman is pretty basic and easily replaced by pretty much any other talisman.

>>
>>168174194

Dark Hand has mediocre damage at meta levels and has no poise WA gimmicks like the other fists to even hit with it in most scenarios.
>>
>>168174179
yes. weapons have weapon arts and things like shields and talismans have skills that are used with left bumper. Most shields have the parry skill for instance. 2 handed a weapon allows you to hold left trigger and use the weapon art with r1, or r2.
>>
>>168173872

WA means Weapon Art. The weapon art for talismans gives you hyper armor when you use it to cast a miracle, at the cost of consuming a little extra FP.

As for healing, I think your FAI stat and the spellbuff of the catalyst itself will determine just how potent a healing spell is. Miracles that buff other effects aren't affected by that though, just heals and offensive miracles.
>>
>>168174336
Yes. It does with almost all infusions.

I disagree but moving on.
>WHS is above TPGS
>>
>>168175215

WHS is the second-longest greatsword in the game equal to the WKGS, right behind the Onyx Blade in effective length. It's damage on a 40 STR/40 FAI build is only slightly below the Claymore's even with bad Bastard Sword R2s and a shit WA. TPGS has a good WAR1 but that's the only gimmick it has really along with Lothric's Holy Sword, in terms of being the R1 machines greatswords are best at it's not the best but it's still a good weapon. Admittedly TPGS is one of those 'on the edge' weapons where you can make a convincing case for it in either category I feel so it doesn't matter that much.

Ludleth comes off as being in a similar situation to Gwyndolin, who's looked down upon as sickly and frail, and cannot fly a giant feathered drake nor grow to three times his normal size and stomp your face, but is still a hideously powerful caster since he's able to maintain a very complex illusion of sunlight and life over a ridiculously large area. Untended Graves seems to be a similar thing. That, or time magic.

GM actually has slightly more range than DSGA. GM I rank as a discount Yhorm's, it requires more stats to get the most out of it compared to Yhorm's only needing STR. While Sharpen doesn't add that much the GM fulfills its purpose as a keepaway weapon slightly better than DSGA because of its range and the effective damage of the two isn't that far apart considering DSGA has a good portion of its AR as split damage. Not being able to effectively 2HR1 combo as much isn't that bad if you know how to watch out for parries with 1HR1s.

>>168175816

Twin Axes are some of the highest DPS weapons in the game if you get L1s off. The Axe R1 buffs allow you to combo an R1 into an L1 more easily, though Axes in general still lack the speed of Straight Swords or the poise of hammers leaving them in an awkward position for most of the class.

In Dark Souls, we use catalysts to cast magic: staves, pyromancy flames, chimes, and talismans.

There are three primary disciplines of magic, with three more "hidden" sub-disciplines within each of those.

They are Sorceries, Pyromancies, and Miracles, the sub disciplines are the dark versions of each of these schools (i.e. dark pyromancies).

Sorceries are your typical magical spells that deal magic damage and will generally use staves as catalysts. Most of this school is devoted to simple damage spells that have a moderate cost. This school of magic is capable of the most damage and does have a few "fun" utility spells that reduce fall damage or make you move silently.

Few enemies are weak to magic, some enemies are resistant to magic.

Pyromancies are magic fireballs that deal fire damage and generally require a pyromancy flame to be cast. They tend to be the most versatile magical school with many single-target AND aoe spells, as well as a few offensive utility buffs such as one that damages you, but increases your stamina regeneration dramatically and gives a small damage boost.

Many enemies are weak to fire, and many enemies are resistant to fire.

Miracles is effectively the paladin's school of magic, requiring the use of talismans or chimes, and posses an enormous variety of both lightning damage spells, healing spells, and utility buffs. One such miracle directly reduces damage taken while simultaneously increasing damage dealt. Miracles are also the only school of magic capable of ignoring stagger while casting.

Many enemies are weak to lightning. and few enemies are resistant to lightning.
>>
>>168174015

>>168176936
In Dark Souls 2, these dark spells were universally referred to as "hexes", but this nomenclature has been changed for Dark Souls 3 to better suit the lore and game mechanics. For the most part, they share some of the same characteristics of their primary schools, but will instead be more dark-themed visually and in effect. They may still be accurately referred to as Hexes.

Hexes are less specialized than the other schools of magic and consists of primarily direct damage spells and utility. It currently has few AoE spells, but makes up for this by most hexes having secondary effects, such as high damage efficiency, stamina damage, or lifestealing. It is also the only "school" of magic that requires the use of multiple types of catalyst.

Some enemies are weak to dark, and few enemies are resistant to dark.

The First Flame governs all rules of reality, including a functional geography.

Presumably at some point it got weak enough that lands just starting sinking under the earth or rising far up in the sky or just outright smashing into one another, just like when it gets on its terminal stage the sun literally starts running out in the sky. It's the whole "lands are transitory" aspect of it
>>
>>168180125
As the flames fade, disparity fades alongside it. This includes such disparate concepts as discrete locations A and B (transitory lands), or past and future (time is convoluted). Everything starts mushing together as the fires die out.

Yeah, no, it doesn't take much for a "trusted" seller to turn to scamming, and then making off with a shitload of money because people actually believed that they wouldn't. I've seen it happen before, and I laugh at these ad-hoc "reliable" exchange systems because there's absolutely nothing you can do if they decide to fuck you over.

The man-serpents are the final endpoint of the long, looooong chain of deformity and mutation that has afflicted the descendants Everlasting Dragons since the First Flame came to be.

"Fall from grace" most likely refers from them degenerating from immortal, wise and nearly invincible stone gods to dumb animals like Hellkite Drake, deformed beasts like the Gaping Dragon, and then finally deformed, rag-covered midget hobos.

People only hit that SL by end-game if they're baddies who only care about PvE and grind levels to compensate for lack of skill.

There are people who like to stay within PvP ranges and like the challenge, so they spend their souls on consumables instead of levels.

That's literally the best looking place in DS2 though.

DS2 is for the most part an ugly ass game, but the local changes around so much odds are there's at least one area aesthetic you enjoy.

It is easily the weakest out of all the Souls games. You can tell that it's effectively a cobbled-together Frankenstein of the pieces that were completed under Shibuya, before Tanimura took over.

Yet at the same time it does enough things right that it's probably my favorite out of the three (part of that is because of how many things DaS3 did wrong that it never should have, given what went right with DaS2). And, as everyone else already pointed out, in and of itself it is not a bad game, its weaknesses just become extremely glaring when put alongside DaS1 and DaS3.

The DLCs go a long way towards salvaging it, they're miles above what you experience in the base game with the exception of the "co-op" gauntlets (though the bosses at the end are largely worth it).

Yeah, thats most of my problems with DS3, not that DS2 is really a gorgeous game

Most of DS3 areas look so alike, with bright orange/brown/yellow stuff, not darker, cold and more diverse like previous games

>>
>>168188852
Yeah just from visuals, like you said Creighton definitely has obscurring, so does Heisel and the other Rosaria dude that gives you the Red Orb. I know hodrick has both Tear rings. Was just curious though if anyone got into the data or whatever and found out the finer details of all the NPC's.
>>
>>168188504
Almost all the good-looking areas of DS2 are concentrated on the second half of it.
Heide's Tower of Flame is the exception to the rule, being a fairly early area.
Then there's Iron Keep, Drangleic Castle, the Aerie, the Dragon Shrine, Shrine of Amana, and the DLC areas bar Sunken King.

Everything else is ugly as hell. And I'm including Majula on this
>>
>>168189060

lol what? Both of those areas were ugly as shit except the LGK fight.

Sunken King is great, ziggurats get my dick rock hard.
>>
>>168189038
If it has been data mined the information has been passed around well enough the wiki sites to display it in full. Which makes me wonder if they don't have rings. I mean they edit NPC health and give some parry A.I. so they aren't standard characters.

That's a good point, I haven't really delved into the info about that kind of thing on any wikis. But from what you say it could be that there aren't many rings on any NPC's at all. Just what we see that we know of.

Bosses in DS3 are pretty much a hit and miss. Half of them are great, the other half are gimmick shit. It has some of the best of the franchise, but definitely the ABSOLUTE WORST also

Pontiff, SoC, Champion Gundyr, Abyss Watchers, Nameless King, Lothric, and Dragonslayer Armour, and Dancer were good as shit

Wolnir, Deacons of the Deep, that fucking Tree, the Crystal Sage, Yhorm, Ancient Wyvern were pure gimmick trash

I wish we lived in an universe where the Yhorm fight wasnt ruined by that fucking fringe weapon. His soundtrack was the best in the game and he looked cool as shit.
>>

>>
>>168189397
I just really like the design of Drangleic Castle, if nothing else its architecture. I also hear that it's supposedly structured in such a way that it greatly resembles Verdite Castle in one of the early King's Field games, and I'm a sucker for that sort of reference.

Shulva, by comparison, doesn't make me feel nearly as invested

>not using the saturation mod
>>
>>168189610
I just assume NPC characters are set up more like boss/ mob A.I. and only really relate to player characters in appearance and sometimes equipment. Even then it's not always true. Some are larger than players can be or smaller and have armour fitted to their custom frame while the player gets a different version. Anri's "marriage" body seems to be the same for male and female (looks like the character modle has breasts even on the male version, and the character is very tiny vs. player). If ring data was data mined in previous games that may have even been a programming shortcut for the older game engines. Of course I might just be talking out my ass.

Abyss Watchers is a shit boss with good presentation. Any boss that you can stagger-lock and/or backstab is, by definition, not a good boss. And Greatwood and Crystal Sage were decent bosses given when you encountered them.

There are far worse bosses than the ones you listed. Bed of Chaos, Capra Demon, Lake Hydras, Prowling Magus and Congregation, Demon of Song, Pursuer, Dragonriders, Royal Rat Vanguard, Covetous Demon, Skeleton Lords.
>>
>>168190289

He was a good tutorial boss with one of the best intros in the series. It's a shame FROM locked half of his moveset away for no reason.
>>

The Tree and Yhorm were fun.
>>
Without entirely redesigning any boss fight, improve upon one of the bosses in Dark Souls 3 by giving it ONE REASONABLY EFFECTIVE additional move, ability, or effect PER NG+ cycle, up to NG+3 that's three new "things"

hard mode: do the same thing but for enemy placements elsewhere in-game

SL1 NG+7 CoC Broken Ladle Fume Knight No rolling no sprinting no backstepping: No gank mechanics
>>
>>168190229
Gargs, Gwyn, O&S, Sif, 4kings, Quelaag, Golem and Nito are all bosses I like fighting
>>
>>168190410
He never should have been parry-able. And he needed to actually "pursue" the player over more than just four areas in the game. Yes, I'm the anon who keeps wishing that the Pursuer would show up all around the game with different weapons each time.
>>
>>168190229
The vast majority of the bosses were interesting and memorable, and most at least fun, even if many weren't incredibly well designed. On subsequent runs, many aren't really challenging anymore, but the Gargoyles, Gaping Dragon, Quelaag, Ornstein and Smough, Sif, and Gwyn are always fights I look forward to. Some of them, like Priscilla, Gwyndolin, Pinwheel (at low level), and the Moonlight Butterfly, are still fun for their gimmick.
>>
>>168190203
Yeah its was pretty cool and the music was great but once you know what to do, in later playthroughs it basically become impossible to die, just like the other gimmicks. Deacons are probably the the better ones in DS3 when it comes to gimmick bosses.

upgrading your flame is the same as upgrading a weapon

the scaling slows down a tiny bit after 25/25, then a little bit more after 35/35, then significantly after 40/40

going 40/40 is fine scaling wise, but I'd suggest just going 35/35 simply because 40/40 requires too much investment if you're also leveling str/dex for weapon requirements

>Abyss Watchers
NG: They can actually parry you with their daggers.
NG+: They start with their swords on fire, second phase the solo Watcher becomes immune to stagger, parry and backstab.
NG++: Red-eyed Watchers no longer spawn, they all aggro against you. Second phase, the solo Watcher becomes red-eyed and increases in speed by 50%.

>Aldrich
NG: He can churn the muck in the arena, inflicting slow-walk and fat-roll like in the deep parts of Farron Keep for a short period of time. In the interest of fairness, he loses this ability in the second phase.
NG+: His melee attacks actually start becoming accurate, forcing you to dodge accurately instead of just waiting for him to slam down and then laying into him.
NG++: Aldrich uses a move to summon Gwyndolin's legs, causing serpents to erupt from the muck and target you with poison-inflicting attacks.

>Yhorm
NG: Storm Ruler only staggers Yhorm and causes normal attacks to deal increased damage for a short period of time, rather than take entire chunks off of his HP bar.
NG+: Yhorm can actually grab you and squeeze you for massive damage, before throwing you across the room.
NG++: He uses his greatshield in the first phase, which can block Storm Ruler WAs. Second phase, he tosses the shield at you, which can crush you for a one-hit kill if you don't dodge it, and then becomes twice as fast.
>>
>>168191415
You get more per-point if you do though. The points have diminishing returns as you level them up more, so leveling the lower stat will always yield more reward.
>>
>>168191457

Of course there is. Every attack has a correct way to respond to it, be that blocking, parrying, rolling, or just generally knowing what direction to move in to keep yourself as safe as possible. Even a boss fights like, say, Ornstein and Smough in DSI can be reduced to an order of operations that is as easily carried out as the Deacon or Greatwood fights. At the basest level they're just all various instances of "knowing what you have to do".
>>
>>168192137
I'm not defending the retarded decision to make bosses parryable, at least you dont HAVE to parry anyone, as opposed to being obligated to just rushing and pluging attacking the wyvern, or spamming the archdeacon with r1, or waiting for the crystal sage to appear and repeat like a retard.
>>
>>168190512

Deacons of the Deep:
NG: The deacons are just much, much more liberal with their ranged attacks, so you actually get attacked from the back ranks while laying into them with R1 spam.
NG+: The curse mist appears extremely early in the second phase, but is somewhat slower, disappearing for a while when you kill the casters generating it.
NG++: The archdeacon is surrounded by a cluster of slowly regenerating affinity orbs.
NG+++: Casters in the crowd can generate an aura that makes deacons around them immune to stagger.

because of absorption being a percentage and not a flat reduction or threshold mechanic, it becomes more and more powerful relative to the amount you had previously

havel's is literally the most versatile set in the game for anyone with the strength to wear it as it has the most poise as well as high magical defenses which are arguably more versatile than smough's, which also looks hideous.

40 vit can wear it with a light weapon and light shield or caestus
50 vit can wear it comfortably with a medium shield and a light weapon
whereas 60 vit can wear it with virtually any weapon under 15 units
70 vit being capable of using it and a heavy ultra, like FUGS, or Morne's.

My advice would be to tongue-change your build to be a Luck based build, hollow infuse your weapon of choice for the damage, then farm of course with Crystal Sage Rapier in offhand, avarice helm, and rusted coin using, and of course gold serpent ring (better drop rate if you're in NG+ or ++ for the upgraded gold serp rings). After all of that, you should at least have a drop rate of 440+ or something like that. You're honestly on track for how many you have in 5 hours in my opinion. And once you have all 30, just tongue-change your build back to what it was and use a shriving stone on your weapon to take off the hollow infusion.
>>
>>168196849
it's pretty high.

Smouldering Lake was intended to be explored after finding Wolnir "too hard", which is why Carthus Catacombs has no summons and Smouldering Lake does

>>168196945
This is best performed on a luck/int build using the man-grub staff rather than whatever build this anon is recommending.

you can get 250 spell buff at 60 luck with enough INT to cast CSS.

I hate that it's not optional if you want Darkmoon Blade or the achievement. At least with DS2 they let you just go to NG++.

It's so bad. The sword-grass farm wasn't nearly as bad. I'm watching Game Grump's playthrough of DS3 but it's wearing on me.

>>168196945

I could actually just do that. I have the Blade covenant on so I did want to be combat-ready, but a quality build with base luck isn't really cutting it for me.

I might just swap to that, or wait until I'm in NG++. I've already killed the LoC in NG+ so I'm just farming covenant items. I WAS going to stay at SL120, but the meta is fucking boring at this level so I might just keep leveling and dump all my points into Luck once I get the ring in NG++.

chain instead of hornet, but yeah that one looks solid. personally I'd stick to the dark hand since it has more AR but I like the way you think, using an annoying weapon like the BK

Might even be able to fit a simple caestus and a farron ring on there instead of the ring of steel protection
>>
>>168199050
Best guess? Either one of the following:
1. You're under/overleveled or have an overleveled weapon, though this is probably unlikely.
2. Farron Woods is easy enough to solo, so casuals don't bother embering - wheras Pontiff is the casual filter, so people who beat him often use summons and are often embered when they come out the other side (if they're smart they'll throw themselves off the cliff ASAP.)

Royal Soldier and 2DR are effectively mandatory if you don't want to fatroll (depending on how big your sword actually is). Chloranthy helps offset stamina regen penalties from being at high equip load.

Stone Ring isn't all that useful, if you 2HR2 your weapon (assuming it's a UGS) will probably do more than enough poise damage to stagger most enemies.

You can also turn and burn with charged 2HR2 which will send anyone unfortunate enough to walk into it flying

Yeah it wasn't until I used Lorian's GS on my sl20 twink build where I realized how useful that hyper armor is when you have to fight multiple people.
>>
>>168202254
You use every single cheap trick at your disposal to kill the host. This includes off-hand crossbow potshots whenever they Estus, using throwing knives and status effects whenever you can, kiting mobs into them and then throwing firebombs as they panic, hiding around corners and charging a 2HR2, initiating with a plunging attack or backstab, whatever you can think of. And, of course, chucking Lloyd's at them and then going aggressive while they can't heal.

If they try to mob you, don't be afraid to run away, deny them any advantage they may have. Get them into choke areas or near powerful mobs (Black Knights, crabs, you name it) and then single them out while they're separated. Gunning for the host can force the phantoms to make mistakes, opening them up for your attacks.

You can spawn in anything as long as you don't keep it when you exit your character, because then it uploads the save to the server and checks it. It will detect: more than the maximum of limited upgrade materials (slabs, estus shards, etc.), more than the maximum of boss souls, more than the maximum number of spells, key items such as tomes, and sometimes covenant items if you don't immediately trade them in. Otherwise you can basically go fucknuts. Dropped myself 99 souls of a great champion online and got nothing.

Directly adding souls to yourself will trip it though. Not really sure why.

>>168205174
Okay, I'm there now
>>
>>168205245
Use a lothric knight UGS with 55+ faith.

You'll have to get 16 dexterity, but you can 2h exclusively at 16 strength, which I recommend since it's 1H moveset is pretty shit.
>>
>>168205194
Just so the information is out there, the difference in spell buff between Yorshka's Chime and Saint's Talisman at 60 Faith is a difference of 5.

Oh no I don't want to use a UGS, I'm looking to use just a normal sword like a longsword or something. I was thinking Lothric's.

It never really does. By the time you finish the first cycle you're already decked out in fully upgraded gear, with maxed out weapons, endgame spells, etc.

DS2 did NG+ right, because it actually changed up the game proper, adding new enemies and changing up some enemy AI so they were actually harder to fight, and not just HP spongey

I thought it was supposed to be like a smaller scale comparison to the various endings you have to choose from. According to that one corvian at least, there is no illusion that there's any other choice besides burning everything up and starting anew when it all starts to rot away to shit.

You step in a put a stop to what seemed like the beginning of the painting embracing either a 'linking the fire' sort of persistence or something else entirely that Freide was working on that might've been sort of like becoming the lord of hollows, like putting Ariandel or herself is some position ruling over an everlasting world of rot.
