That's exactly my point. I'm not saying that all the names should be written how they are on the left column - in fact I prefer the opposite, and think all long vowels should be dropped. Atlus JP thinks the same apparently, and in all of their romanizations they have always dropped the long vowel sounds. If Atlus USA just stuck with the way that Atlus JP wrote their names, then they would actually have a more consistent translation. As it is right now, names like Yusuke are losing the long u vowel, but names like Yuuki are keeping it, while Atlus JP dropped it in both names. Who would have thought the JP branch were better at this than the localization team?

I do agree that translation choices should be generally consistent, but there are always exceptions to consider. For example, in my opinion Yuuki is better than Yuki in this case because Yuki is generally known as a girl's name here in the English world, at least as far as I know.

i think it's much more about standing up for his own sense of justice rather than "i wanted to be a hero," specifically. it makes sense because arsenne also prompts him with that very same line "what you did, it wasn't a mistake, was it?" when he awakens his powers for the first time.

you do have the option of answering "it's a mistake," at that point, if i'm not wrong, but then it's just game over. so if the option is there, i guess it's possible that he's had some doubts since everything went to shit after he did the right thing? i don't think he straight up regrets it, though.
