About to defend Juicebox here technically he did win that undefeated AZ tournament undefeated. He's known for being kinda trollish, and he tried to hold things down by going on stream and talking about tech stuff about KoF with KBR on stream when Jwong wasn't showing up. He even played some casuals with Chris_G and was giving him tips while they were waiting on justin as reported by the person who was commentating at the moment. Supposedly JWong was supposed to be at a Marvel exhibition match, but someone came back and confirmed that he wasn't even plying marvel. The tournament was held back for like an hour because of the waiting.
To be honest yes, it's boastful thing to say, yes, but I think chris-G is taking is a little too seriously as well as floe. And floe has shit talked people who have criticized SFV before basically saying something to the effect if you don't like it it's because you're shit and can't adapt. So something like his respose to that is kinda rich. And Juicebox often streams doing KoF tutorials teaching people shit. He even asked KBR on stream if he thought there would be interested in getting his stuff subbed in spanish chances are they are interpreting what he said the wrong way and Jiyuna's tweet kinda makes it easier for people to interpret it that way.

So you need a visa and not just a passport to visit Japan?
Does that mean each finalist had to get a Japanese visa? I had the impression that getting a visa takes quiet some time. The last qualifier was last month, so I guess it's not that hard or SNK probably facilitated the process.
Eitherway, it's shame that guy lost the chance to participate. Hopefully the other finalists won't have any problems getting to Japan.

No, no no. It depends on the country and the treaties they have with others. For example pretty much everyone needs a Visa to get into china. Not everyone will need a visa. I can guarantee you that Americans and Mexicans, as well as some Europeans don't need visas to get into Japan. I think Taiwanese don't either. I think china is just one of the few that do. Like I mentioned earlier China basically reqiores everyone to have a visa and as far as I know traties work both ways. So, if China requires Japanese citizens to get a visa maybe that's why chinese citizens need to get a visa to Japan. From what I've researched Japan issues visas relatively quickly. Still rooting on Reynald for this one. He is pretty much a goddamn wild-card and one of the few players willing to do insane shenanigans on the fly, which mostly get other players off of their guards. The only player I know that has been able to shut him down completely is Xiaohai and even he, one of the more veteran and experienced KoF player has a hard time reading Reynald and Xiao does take him seriously whenever they face each other.

Anon, KoF never fully went for that full anime look. It's some weird quasi-anime and quasi-not anime thing in between. A full anime look wouldn't fit the style, it'd be too flat, if you know what I mean. It's weird, but with the style XIII used as well as the Neo Geo games had they didn't quite have that flatness. I'm not an artfag/animation fag so I can't quite express it. An anime style would fit the Last blade better, perhaps maybe even SS and FF or AoF to some degree.

I can see why one would feel that. KoF, despite the art style, has always been filled with references/tropes from anime/manga as well as live action stuff both japanese and western. Just look at choi, it's obvious who he parodies and fucking Benimaru was literally based off of Polnareff that even the deves referred to him as such or electric polnareff during his in creation.

Having Shinkiro as the most memorable artist since the 90's helped giving KOF that image. Talking about it, I really like these day-to-day life pics, it feels like you find any of them in the bus or training in the park on a Saturday morning.
Hiroaki and Ogura also have a more realistic vibe their art, but except for XIII, the sprites also have that 3D-ishi look.

I think the point is that if they just made KOF with say, GG or BB style is wouldn't feel like KOF at all. I think SNK could try using some sort of cell shading, they just need to figure out a way of giving an unique style to it.

I think it took them too much to migrate to 3D, maybe the MI series was a test to see if a 3D KOF would be well accepted, but they ended making it separated from the main series and keept using 2D for the next KOFs so idk.

Possible metal slug game with VR?

KoF 13 questions. Also a newbie who came from Street Fighter. So I kind of got a hang of the basic, newbie friendly characters like Ralf, Terry, Ryo and Shen. I find them pretty good to use specially Shen and Ryo in which I am surprised that the meme I am hearing about Ryo's fireball to be useful to be true. The hitbox of his short projectile is xbox huge compared to Dan.
Anyway my question now Is it good to go and play K' and Mr.karate now that I got the hang of the other characters and how to do(mostly like 50% of the time) HD combo's? I still cannot get a hang of Takuma specially that C, f+B to hien Shippu kyak combo that I see most of the players do so I kind of avoid using him. Any tips would be welcome.

That's what I meant, yeah. Fio and Eri are fine, and every now and then I see stuff about some of the drill instructors, like Sophia. New characters like Dragunov and Scotia are underrepresented, though. Dragunov and Yoshino have retroactively justified Metal Slug 5's existence, IMO.

Magical Drop is kind of lame. I don't see why some netplay programs (Supercade, Fightcade, etc.) keep giving it a spotlight. I'll admit that it's Data East's best series, but that doesn't mean much. The only thing it has going for it is that it's not Tetris (so it doesn't deal with dumb, backwards rules) or Puyo (so it's not held back by Sega). But it's not the best the Neo Geo had to offer.

I don't know man, I would understand if Xiaohai had shit to deal with that would have him stay in china, but from my point of view you're getting free plane tickets and lodging in Japan. I'd go even if there were no bonus (for me the experience of the whole going there would be enough), but also if that's your primary means of income I can see why there's no point.
