I'll just attempt to tldr it without the context.

Exploring seems to really be my jam and will probably be how I make my ISK. But being fully proficient is going to run me weeks of training.

I've wanted to covops hunt in Wormhole space ever since I watched a handful of Wingspan videos. I've got a corp that will be more than happy to take me on once I'm actually worth a damn. I met them when one of them killed me and has since spent the last week lecturing, training, and flying with me. Weeks of training.
I really don't want to waste his time. He's been immeasurably generous, helpful, and patient.
On top of this, training into a combat role would allow me to go ratting with him in the meantime, but that would take away from my covops training in the here and now.

I've got a cargo inventory in Jita worth 151 million+ (I've got several blueprints I could contract), but I find myself wanting to hang on to these goods as I find items that are used BY those blueprints. The longterm goal obviously being that I could make way more than 151 million if I were to build or invent these things. Again weeks of training in order to be able to do these things.

This game is big. Sometimes it feels to big but I love it.

I started with industry and I'm regretting it now because I'm lacking SP on my character I need for combat ships. Sell the blueprints and the components - if you want to build items later, you can buy materials like everyone else does.

I'm exploring now. Have been for a couple weeks. I've got my overall hacking up to IV on data and relics, but I still blows at least 1 in 10 cans simply because sometimes I don't have the coherence to tank through some bullshit antivirus shenanigans.

Not really, you get the full tank of the scimi like in any other fashion but your 4 lows are a DCUII, and 3 cap power relays and 2 cap control circuit rigs. You get some 55k tank out of it with a MWD cap stable.

The Venture only has two turret hard points and your railgun is taking up one of them, so you're effectively halving your mining yield. If you want to defend yourself from NPC pirates while mining train your drones skill to 3 and bring two light scout drones with you.

And for the Keep at Range command, when you use that your ship will try to fly directly away from what you used the command on, and since I assume you were mining at the time you probably flew right into an asteroid and kept bouncing off it.

Can you use d-scan and know how wormhole space works?
Then yes, for the sake of experiencing something new.

Make sure you know at least the minimum of safety procedures (safe spots, bookmarking return holes, etc).

Also keep in mind w-space is a complete free for all.
Meeting anyone/anything else with guns spells death unless you gtfo sooner than they can point a gun at you.
That means - expect to lose everything you're flying. Oh and make sure to take probing equipment with you - you don't want to be stuck in w-space.

If you aren't transporting anything particularly valuable, use a wreathe with the cloak + MWD trick. It can carry ~20k while still having decent align times for an industrial, and a fully fitted hull is only 10-ish million.

Alternative, if you're carrying sub 8k or so and you have skill points to spare go with a blockade runner. DST are preferable in damn near any situation but you have to be completely braindead to lose a blockade runner.
