From what I understand killing a member of a faction can also reduce your relations with factions that are neutral with them, this specifically was caused by me shooting a merc in the back of the head, Loner and Duty relations having dropped so low as to cause them to declare war on each other. I'm always surprised at the level of stuff I can technically get away with, especially intra-faction skullduggery, I'm not bad enough and my reputation is usually pretty high.

You can still do plenty of hit missions intra-faction and inter-faction enough to not trigger most neutral factions from becoming hostile, and you can also have some factions completely reverse their standing with you.

I'm not sure if it's always based on the actor because I've seen it being triggered by two camps killing each other while I looked on.

Exactly this. Loners don't have a leader, they can't go to war, they should behave unpredictable towards each other as well.

As a Loner players should periodically run into other Loners that are hostile towards them and out to kill them, and there should be much more leeway with Loners killing Loners than say, factions attacking each other or violence towards faction members, (which gets membership revoked.)

The thing that should make the Loner lifestyle work is that there should be virtually no trust in other Loners, only survival and assistance where needed.

I just mean that loners as a faction shouldn't go to war, but I guess Duty could go full nazi and try to keep loners out because they try to sneak in for profit. Of course Monolith, Bandits, and Military kill everyone so they're an exception, but one loner killing a dude from freedom should never cause freedom to go aggro on all loners... That wouldn't make any sense.

Sadly I don't know how to fix this as loners are rendered as a 'faction' when they really shouldn't be.

First, see vid related for what that "mod" actually does.

Second, normally, the game only simulates NPCs that are on the level the player is in, and adjacent (linked) levels. Everything else is put on pause until you enter an adjacent level, or that level itself. All "full dynamic a-life" does is remove that linked level requirement, running all NPCs all the time.

That's it.

That's all it does. It doesn't "break quests", and it doesn't "break factions". It just acts like you're always on or adjacent to those levels. You fags need to stop making shit up and pretending it does all kinds of ridiculous shit.

Go download the 'Display Units like Clear Sky' addon and just sit there and watch. This will give you an understanding of how the AI works with the rudimentary "attack > capture > hold" functions.

Most don't move. Some get put into an "attack" state (think CS) and they will go from their current location and attack another location. I don't even think they interact with other NPCs in the way, which is why you have monolith that waltz right through 'offline' Rostok unscathed, and then attack the Garbage Duty checkpoint, take it, and then hold it.

This is normal behavior, you're just not likely to notice it.

Spawns are dictated by the smart spawn files, this does not affect them in any way. You're just running into units that spawned elsewhere, attacked a point, and are holding it.

That's not caused by that switch (although you may run into it more often since the NPC isn't being paused while you're a couple of maps away). It's a known issue with NPCs when they go from a roaming state to a defending/holding state. You can turn your quest in by hitting the keybinds quickly as you load a save while looking at them. I actually made an AHK script for this that instantly turns the quest in for you in a previous general. Check the archives.

Depends what kind of ammo you're using, but since enemies actually have infinite ammo, it makes sense that they at least drop ~10+ rounds more often than not.

Exactly. At the most base level, the game is primarily about exploring the zone and shooting things. Everything else is a factor of those two elements in one way or another, so for me, having extremely satisfying gunplay is an absolute must. My personal definition of "extremely satisfying" would be visceral, highly lethal two-way combat where weapons perform roughly how I would expect them to perform in a realistic setting.

Well if one wanted the drops to be realistic enemies wouldn't be holding just one or two mag worth of ammo, but everyone would be carrying similar set as the player does. Heading out, some ammo and few medkits. Heading back to base, carrying as much as he possibly can.
With the way the games are made, that just can't be balanced in anyway.

Challenge accepted. I personally prefer the ~half a mag's worth of ammo drops, as it's rewarding, but not overly so, but fuck it, let's see how "balanced" we can get realistic loadouts just as a fun thought experiment.

First we want a big range in death_items for various supplies. Starting with Master rank stalkers, we'd have something like:

0-150 ammo
0-4 medkits
0-10 bandages
0-2 bread
0-2 sausage
0-2 tourist's delight
0-1 vodka
0-1 various drugs

After that, we'd scale down the supplies by rank, ending with Rookie stalkers who may only be carrying a mag or two, a couple of bandages and some food.


That's an awful lot of supplies, so what the fuck do we do about that so that the economy isn't ruined? First, we play on Ironmeme. Hoard all the supplies you want, but it's not going to stop you from getting LOST TO THE ZONE if you fuck up. Seocnd, amp up the satiety degrade rate to Misery Assault-tier, so that the player actually needs them calories. Third, we can take another page out of Misery's handbook and have Anomalies ravage the fuck out of your armor, as well as making any kind of damage heavily degrade them. With armor rapidly degrading, and us playing on ironmeme, we are heavily incentivized to maintain our armor after each firefight/mutant encounter, so to take a third page out of the Memery handbook, there would be misc items that allow the player to maintain their armor above a certain percent before having to take it to a technician and get bent over and fucked on prices.

I think that would be a good start if someone decided they wanted truly realistic loadouts.

As sperg as it sounds, I do reduce the efficacy of healing items and drugs to a fraction of what they are by default and prefer the use of animations that prohibit smashing keys to instantly cram gause, medkits as fast as you can hit the buttons.

I've also put a fair amount of work into a rejigged damage system that actually makes armor function as it would by NIJ standards; busted floor values for damage taken is the biggest problem with the damage formulas as they currently stand, and unfucking this makes healing item abuse mostly irrelevant.

If you play the entire game in less than 2 years then you are missing so much. Did you realize in Misery that each level changes after you open up a new areas? The Dogs at the sawmill are replaced by Pseudodogs. The Bandits to the east of them are replaced by Bandits. Before Jupiter you have Modders in the ranger station near skadovsk. Definitely. I wouldn't have been able to add some of my favorite tweaks (NPCs don't loot stashes, camera doesn't go full tilt-a-whirl mode when shot) to my AMK AE tweak pack if it wasn't for some helpful anons that pointed me in the right direction.

You're on a goose chase unfortunately; those are only starter values, they won't help your current busted save game, and as far as I'm aware there's no debug function or console command to dick with relations mid-game.

For what its worth though yes, for future playthroughs, you simply adjust actor_%faction and %faction values in reciprocity with other factions and you can have whoever you want be friends and enemies to start.

Oh actually, I had a thought; theoretically if you change the goodwill "kill" penalty in the game_relations file to a high positive value instead of a negative one, then shoot a couple in the face, they should love you. You might need to leave the map or sleep after the murder though to make the values stick.

Apparently, Sid doesn't have a heavy_pockets section in his trade file. However, I intend to make him sell most of the items in his inventory cheaper than other traders, once I get to price differentials.

Most of the weapons Sid has for sale come from the military, with an odd black market import here and there.

All of the food in his inventory is now in in canned, non-perishable form, and I intend to do this with other traders that are not bartenders.

Instead of selling the SEVA, which I intend for purely for scientist traders and Hawaiian, Sid now instead sells an odd Exoskeleton or Radiation Suit.

Overall, the goal is to make Sidorovich's stock unimpressive, but his prices the most competitive for cheap ammunition and common weapons.

I haven't tried vanilla CoC, though I've heard that it's the only way to get a Svarog detector.

I'm using heavy_pockets, at least in the trade files that I'm editing, to cut out the trash guns and only sell higher end weapons and armors once that is triggered.

The other thing I'm considering doing once heavy_pockets is triggered, is giving it some sort of drawback, by making everything the traders sell more expensive. The logic being if the player has more money to spend, then they will charge the player more.

That is EXACTLY what I'm using him for.

Sidorovich is a very shrewd businessman, while the other traders are deep in the Zone, Sid sets up his motherfucking bunker just over the border right outside the military checkpoint because he has balls of steel and wants to bury the other traders by flooding the Zone with mil surplus at rock bottom prices.

Most of the guns he sells reflect that premise, cheap makarovs, slavshit pistols and glocks, Russian shotguns, nuggets and SKS's by the crate, and tons of Kalashnikovs, a few Dragunovs, and even a PKM or an RPG here and there.

His army connections are very strong, which means that he can sit in his bunker all day and make calls to generals to ignore the stalkers he has climbing over barbed wire for him.

I have a different solution for tools, but unfortunately that hasn't come into play yet, it involves doing a lot of logging of coordinates on nearly all of the maps.

I'm definitely going to get around to making stashes less important for detectors, and even traders less important for high end guns. Looting Scientists should be the main source of finding detectors, and killing high ranking NPCs the main source of finding high end weapons.

When I first tried CoC, I was disappointed in how much it forced the player to rely on traders, and level exploration wasn't really important, so I think some all.spawn editing is still in order.

The TRG-22 I posted above in the screen is like that, Sid sells TRG-22, L96, PKM, and AK-74M and RPGs and Exos seldomly.

Most of the traders I've decided to give a higher end gun as a wildcard so not everything drops once the player achieves heavy_pockets.

The bandit trader, Olivius, for instance, will very rarely sell a VSSK, and TRG-42, OA91, VSK-94 and RPD are rare occurrences as well.

Even though I do a lot of savescumming myself with traders, at least when it came to testing out some of these probabilities, I don't really think a script like that is even necessary.

If you set the probability in supplies to under 0.10, the likelihood of that item spawning in the trader's inventory is so low that even a lot of savescumming until you find it requires a lot of time.

For instance, Sid has all 3 sets of tools in his trader files, I've never seen them spawn, but the probability is really low, about 0.03-0.05.

They're cheap and extremely effective, and are more than a match for an AK.

I'd imagine the average Loner carrying around a Los-7-1 and using it to hunt mutants, and fight off bandits and the military with it from range.

The gear I had in mind for loadout profiles for Loners would consist almost entirely of a mix of revolver handguns, break open and pump action shotguns, and bolt-action rifles. Most of these weapons don't require magazines to use, so Loners would prefer them for their flexibility and reliability.

I disagree, I think stalkers would use more rifles, Mosin, SKS, bolt-actions and pump shotguns of varying degrees.

Bandits would be one of the factions that uses SMGs heavily, along with shotguns, and almost completely forego long range weapons since their mode of attack relies on lying in wait and ambushing stalkers at close distance.

I don't think Kalashnikovs or other assault rifles should be commonly found outside of the military and paramilitary factions, like Duty, or Freedom, or Mercenaries, or Monolith. Loners and Bandits should be the more poorly armed and disorganized rabble occupying the Zone.

Not coordinated ones, but the AI can sneak attack, or at least I've seen them do it in SoC on many occasions.

If you order companions to sneak, they'll do it as well.

Kinda tangential, but someone on /k/ brought up the idea that many new Stalkers would use pistol caliber carbines since they're legal in many countries, relatively inexpensive and most take standardized magazines from other more common guns. Gives some more range over a usual pistol without the clunk of papa's Mosin.

It does make sense, but from a balance standpoint I want to give stalkers and bandits a different approach to combat. Stalkers use common weapons for hunting and handguns, and bandits use sawed off shotguns and SMGs, that have a high rate of fire, for ambush combat.

The other thing that I want to do with Mercenaries is give all of them, at any rank, suppressors on all of their weapons. They are not supposed to be in the Zone, so their work in it should not make too much commotion, This means that while Mercs are ill-prepared for combat with mutants, against the player and NPCs they will be absolute hell to come up against.

In Vanilla SoC, weapon damage is directly tied to difficulty level, and it actually goes DOWN as you go up in difficulty. The problem is that the player's resistances are also massively tanked, so while you do less damage (also NPCs shooting at other NPCs deal less damage), you take WAY more damage.

So if these mutants are "armored", well, buckshot doesn't penetrate dick, being completely stopped even by shitty level II kevlar. So why is it that these "heavily mutated animals" that are somehow nearly impervious to rifle loads that are insanely more powerful and offer significantly more penetration felled by a buckshot blast or two, while soaking massive amounts of rifle fire?

The point being, shotguns are shit, and they should only be used in the zone simply because of how common they are as hunting arms, and how available ammo for them would be. They should be a very cheap options for tackling unarmored targets since you'd have a good one-shot stop chance, but they should be extremely ineffective against anyone with body armor. You should want to switch to a rifle as soon as possible.

This is true, though slugs should be extremely formidable and able to compete with many assault rifle and full power rifle cartridges, after all, slugs are used for large game like grizzly bears and cape buffalo.

It's definitely GSC's fault for miscalculating the effectiveness of buckshot, which should be simple considering the multiplicative effect of more than one shot particle.

Being a musician doesn't really make that much money, I've made all the money back, but since I don't gig in a big city or tour or suck up to pubs or reviewers it means that I haven't made much in terms of profit, though I've made a lot of friends along the way and due to how hungry I am, I know by now which places to gig and who to talk to.

I am at least satisfied to the point where I could do soundtrack work either for games or for films, which seems to be far more lucrative for me.

I remember for my very first CoP playthrough, the evacuation mission occurred in the middle of the night, and we got ambushed by a chimera on the way there. The fighting was so fucking desperate and brutal, just trying to survive the monolith onslaught and the zone attempting to purge you. I remember I ran out of ammo for my assault rifle, and I was pinned behind cover waiting for the helicopter to let me on, praying I wouldn't die.

Needless to say I got the worst ending, but I was so immersed and so grateful for having lived I couldn't bring myself to care.

Nothing unique about stalker in that respect, it's the same as your first time reading a really good book, watching a really good movie, or doing anything amazing for the first time. Because your settings are off, and with a tiny bit of effort on your part you can greatly improve your picture quality at no cost, and you'll probably find that you not only need the ENB anymore, but other games should look much better as well.

It's not that you shouldn't try other means, it's that you're attempting to solve the issue in reverse. By default, every monitor comes from the factory with the brightness set way too high and the color balances off. No matter how high quality your monitor is, this is going to be something you need to fix. After you've fixed it at the hardware level, you need to fine-tune it at the software level, which will typically entail dropping your gamma, and removing any light sources that are in front of your monitor causing your screen to appear washed out. Slapping an ENB preset on there should be your last choice when all else fails.

So let's say every week you eat at a restaurant. You get the same order every time, a big juicy steak. Except you order that motherfucker WELL DONE. Every time it comes to you as a dry, tasteless, overcooked hunk of gray meat, so in order to make it palatable you drown that motherfucker in A1, but that AI gives you really bad acid reflux. One day you ask the waiter if there's any other steak sauce you can drown it in since the A1 is tearing up your guts.

The waiter informs you that if you just ordered the steak rare, it would be wonderfully flavorful and juicy. You immediately shit your pants and start grinding your teeth in uncontrollable rage. Running tests, it seems it takes 7-10 shots to kill even lightly armored enemies with a 5.56 or 5.45.

I play on master difficulty, and die within being hit once or twice.

i have a clue based on that crash error.

some weapon is setup something like this
[wpn_ak74_snowflake]:wpn_ak74
which means it's based off of the main config setup for the wpn_ak74
but
one of them is setup differently
like the main ak_74 has
scope_status = 1 (permanent)
and the snowflake weapon has
scope_status = 2 (attachable)

this will give that R_xforms::set_P() error.
also sometimes blank crashlogs.
happened a few times in a SoC mod i was using till i found it and fixed it.

ur gonna have to do some sniffing around if you want to fix it yourself. assuming that just happens to be what is causing that crash.

Losing weight is entirely about calories in calories out. If at the end of the day you have had less calories than needed to maintain your current weight, you will lose weight and if you have too many, you will gain weight

Working out can help in different ways
lifting weights and such can take away mass from fat by turning it into muscle mass, while cardio can help burn a lot of calories.
But, cardio is useless if you're still eating far too many calories a day and you can only lift so much that the current mass you have will turn into muscle.

Watching what you eat is the quintessential part of losing weight
