Awakening was comfy as fuck, it was an adventure with a friendly bunch of dorks to save the world. The characters ranged from normal to slightly wacky, the atmosphere was fun, and Robin was a nice design. Honestly, My Castle would have been a much better feature for Awakening due to what a chill bunch the Shephards were.

Fates has the awful story split where both kingdoms deserved death, older brother Royals being retards, off the wall insane characters like Camilla, Peri and Belka in Nohr, dull as dirt characters in Hoshido, the massive Azura shilling.

And that's not counting the mess that was Revelations. Conquest 8, 10, 12, 17, 18, 22, 23 and 24 are still fucking great maps though.

Conquest was the only route where the gameplay was better than what we got in Awakening, and I still couldn't bring myself to finish it because holy fucking shit literally everything else made me want to jump off a bridge. Awakening wasn't perfect at all but it was good enough for me to finish it and buy + beat all the DLC including Apotheosis on the secret path and I couldn't even finish the one fucking route of Fates that wasn't 100% trash because everything else was that dreadful. I think the other paths were still better than Awakening, even if Revelation was trashier than even Birthright at times. But I played Awakening a ton. It was fun at first, but the game annoyed me more and more. Reinforcements that attack when they show up is the most retarded thing ever, and is an even bigger problem than the empty maps or the horrific stat scaling on Lunatic where enemies go from 11 speed to 30 speed in a couple chapters.

And, now that I've finally passed the halfway mark, I figured I might as well let you guys in on what I'm doing this for in the first place.

The basic idea is that once I get the full set finished, I can plug these suckers into Fates for a nice roster swap Midori-style. I already ran each characters' growths through calculations to normalize them to Fates standards and these are the results that came out, the only one that was manually edited was Lucia because PoR prepromotes are weird.


Hopefully I can keep progress at about the same pace as I have so far so that this doesn't all turn into a pipe dream.

I dunno, supports seem pretty subjective. I also really don't agree with the game trying to make her intriguing, there's a clear difference between the effort IS gave toward Lucina and say, Azura, who pretty much everyone knows was supposed to be the intriguing mysterious girl.
Also, that last part seems more like an issue with the writing, not the character themself.

I kind of have to disagree, nothing Lucina does is really worthy of being called a pussy if you ask me. Sure, it's easy to sit back and say "I could have done that", but I think the game does a good enough job to let us know that the things Lucina fails at at least weigh heavily on her, and it's not like she just cries about it all the time.

Again, I'd argue that that's more an issue with the game's writing, but I do think she changes throughout the story. If you consider that her original plan was to go solo and even kill Robin if necessary, you can see that by the end she has a newfound respect for comradery and put aside her desperation in exchange for faith in her allies. Cliche, maybe, but it's definitely not where she starts off in the story.

Anyway, I realize none of this will probably mean anything, I don't really want to force you to like her, just wanted to point out some things you may consider.

The multi route system of Fates repesents the current political dilemna in the world. Going full conservative or full liberal cannot work, and this is why BR/CQ end in unsatisfying ways. Only through a political middle ground can there be true happiness. However, the deaths of Scarlet and Izana represent how no path is truly perfect, but that we must work towards getting the most good.

Children in Fates are seen as arbirary and the Deeprealms are viewed as awkward, but this is actualy writing genius. Children and the future are "tools" used in political battles to jusify decisions. Everyone will make points arguing that they are making decisions "for the children" when it reality it is only self serving.

Ryoma and Xander are truly hypocrites and do bad despite being good people. Desperation for their own political ideals pushes them towards the edge causing hate when in reality both are similar and should be friends. A true masterpiece. Azura herself is lady liberty, and her death in the other two routes represents how nobody wins in the partisan system we currently have.

I'm serious though. I actually like her and think she's underrated.

She comes from a really bad and ruined future where her family and loved ones have been killed and has no concept of normal life. Her weird sense of humor, naivety and dorkiness are a result of that.

The other kids kinda went through the same thing but they handle the stress differently, like how Gerome hides behind his mask, or how Inigo smiles and is cheery to make everyone else feel better to list some examples.

With Lucina, she makes it her duty to prevent the ruined future from happening again, even knowing it doesn't change her own. She's so determined in her goal it's like she has no sense of self worth. She can't accept any happiness for herself above the happiness of others. Which is why she's insistent of leaving her parents behind after all is said and done, even if she'd like to stay.

She's kinda like Archer. She'll probably end up dying alone on a battlefield. She needs someone to look after her, someone to keep her happy and tell her she can be happy.

She has a lot going for her character-wise.
