and thought while it was a fantastic dragon flight simulator with the best world and weather I'd ever seen in a game the game itself was not good.

Should I be happy it's back? Will it's world and weather engine be comparable (but updated, naturally)? Standing on a high mountain watching a nasty storm come in from the north, pass over you and continue on south was pretty fucking epic. And finding a large dragon to tame and then fly around was great.

When playing through it the first time the 'scholar' sounded like a fucking creep to me. His veneer of bringing the tribes together was so paper thin that I thought it was obviously tongue in cheek. If they really tried to change it to be less offensive they failed pretty bad.

Perhaps a good 1v1v1 PvP meta game has always been a solid answer, albeit difficult to do.

PvE-wise, it's impossible to say. Your choices come down to doing the same 2-4 dungeons/raids/whatever that come out every 6 months, or having shitty player generated/procedurally generated content.

Maybe the answer is having little to no end game, and just having perma death or something akin to that.

It's hard to know when you want something, but you have no idea what it is.

Good PvP that actually pops or can be joined whenever. GW2s open world pvp system ( WvW map ) is a lot of fun ( TOO BAD GW2 COMBAT SUCKS ). If Tera had the playerbase for something like that it would be pretty dank.

Actually challenging PvE content for both parties and solo. Right now Tera has 1 challenging raid, 1 kinda challenging dungeon, and the rest of the game is retard proof.

Problem is BHS does way too much scrub pandering. Where they appeal to the type of so called "gamer" who wants all monsters to do no damage, be easily killed and grinded forever. No challenge allowed. That's basically Tera endgame right now.

When will devs learn that trying to appease the type of terribad player who is too big of a thundering faggot to learn the mechanics never goes well? I keep seeing asian developers do this to their game and the result is always server closure.

I tried Wildstar about 3 times. Got into it a little the last time but it's just really...weird. Not bad (character creation is fun, actually) and the ideas they had for it were interesting in theory but there aren't enough players to justify playing it in my experience.

I think it's because western games all lean on tan target too much still instead of fully embracing action combat.

Wildstar is a great example - pre launch it was unplayable to me after having played TERA first, until I got a mod (which is now built in to the game) that fixes the camera and lets you use mouse buttons for attacks. They slowly pulled away all gtaoe and abilities that require a target, making everything so much more fluid. It's easily my favorite combat system in an MMO now (or tied with B&S). Too bad it's fucking deeeeeaaaaad.

Atlantica online has a way to make finished goods cost more than the materials.
They use a 'workload' system. What it does it that every crafted items has a certain workload. You have to fill it up by grinding.

For example, a high level jewel has 30m workload. An average fight will give 100k workload. It would take a while to get 30m to craft the item.
Now people with money are willing to spend more to buy the finished goods because grinding that long is pretty boring.

They're limiting the tokens you get. F2p players already get less tokens compared to p2p players and now they're making it a daily/weekly reward. Usually f2p players can just grind the dungeons for more tokens but they're stopping that. They also increased the prices for the vending machines. F2p players needs 4 weeks minimum to buy one item whereas p2p players only need 2.

All the best games over the years have been subscription based: WoW, DAoC, both EQs, AC and many others.

Also I find most classes in D3 are fucking weak as shit. The highest torment I can comfortably solo is T7 with my wizard and thats mainly just because of the firebird set bonus so i can just set all enemies to burn for 3000% weapon damage till death and then spam them with disintergrate.

Leveling is more or less like that. You can crank up the difficulty while leveling if you really want but it's not really worth it. Shit will kick your teeth in while you're pushing higher torments/greater rifts
