Its last demo looked like a comfy dungeon crawler where you collect cards for your combat deck and create/maintain your own city with friends.

You use them either to cast a spell, summon a minion, or create a weapon and fight by yourself. And to use a card, you need your max mana to be higher than its cost, you get the max mana by sending a card from your hand back to your deck.

And you can terraform the world, creating your own terrain, houses, npcs and even cities, if your guild puts in effort. And if a place is abandoned, it'll degrade to its default form.

Well, there's an event right now that gives 20 or so weapons with the same stats as a level 150 weapon but usable at level 10.
Those are not cheap and they plan on giving away 22 of them. That's enough for 2 full formations.
Plus there's always those people that plan on +'s them and the stones drops like candies and worth 15m each. You can get 100 in an hour. It gives low level players an easy way to make money.

Is there an MMO with a fun punching class?

Brawler in TERA might be okay if it wasn't fucking Human F only.

Monk in WoW is too much magic shit, not enough punch.

XIV's was shitty, mostly because of the game it was in.

Unarmed in Project Gorgon is pretty good since there's no autoattacks and lots of stuns at least.

Monk in DDO was alright but I don't remember too much of it.

Back when Wakfu General was still barely alive and desperate for players, when new players came in frequently asking where to play, the general insist on playing on a server that was ideal to their location and playtime, for it would be pointless to play at the deadest hours when they were awake (for example, a Yurpoor playing on Nox, the NA server at noon on their end while it's like 1am server time). However there was this obnoxious faggot known as Remikid that was so fucking desperate for people to play on Remi, the international server that was ironic enough, really dead playerwise. They drove new players away and resorted to underhand means in game, such as stealing a max level guild from another player. Vanilla was apparently excellent. Storm legion was alright if not amazing. Nightmare Tide wasn't very good, and I haven't heard anything about Starfall. It has the standard problem of being a fairly old game that hasn't really updated its systems to be in line with modern day shit, I think.

Depends if it's good. Early wakfu had no quests and was good and I did play it. A bit of directed progressions, I feel, is always needed, though. In early wakfu, you had tons of secrets to find, as well as achievements, which gave you swag to put on your pet.

then image "quests" as being missions that are given by npc's and that you must do the missions in order to unlock more missions and these missions have very specific ways of being completed. Also these are registered in a quest log.
Versus
instead of the above quests, you have sort of "events" that occur in real time in the world that you can choose to participate in or not.
Example: you see a guy getting destroyed by wolves, you defeat the wolves, guy thanks you and because he is impressed by your combat prowess he requests you save his daughter in X location. You have no time for small talk so you just ignore him and go away like the huge asshole you are. However another player was passing by and overheard (or read in the chat bubble of the npc) that the said daughter is in trouble and decides to help her. This new player braves the many dangers on road to the location of the daughter (while having gotten nice loot maybe on the way) and finally arrives where she is. Or was supposed to be, because he now sees her getting saved by another random player who randomly passed by. Now he could just walk away in frustration, but offers instead to accompany the random player and the daughter (who asks to get reunited with her father at Y location) on the journey back, essentially guiding the random player to the father's location (there are no quest marks so the random player appreciates this). After successfully reuniting with his daughter the father thanks both players and maybe rewards them some gold (how the devs will implement a fair reward who gets what and how much system I don't know, but here is just the idea that I'm describing).

Results: first player (you) saved the father but refused to save daughter so only got the event wolves loot as a reward as well has minus reputation from the father NPC (word will spread to the village and maybe have some consequences for this, but only as flavour). Second player will get rewards from the event mobs that appear on the path to X location, rewards from the father and plus to reputation towards the father. Third player will get the rewards from the father as well as the rewards of the mobs around location X that he had to defeat. The 2 latter player also get to interact with each other and maybe will become game friends.

The event ends and the father no longer offers this quest anyone else, and maybe even despawns since he's usefulness is over (or keep him to populate the world with more random npc's).

So no quest marks no logs, if you take too long, too bad (but there should be loads of events running simultaneously so no biggie). You just wander around the world doing whatever.
Also since it's a dynamic system you could also kill the father too, since specific NPC's don't really matter for the players' progression (if they are killed more will spawn).

I'm sure you can imagine many many more ways that events like this one play out. Hard part is successfully implementing these and figuring out a way to make them varied enough and random enough.

It would be cool.
