Maybe these students really were SHSL students like the Monocubs hinted but then they willing decided to erase memories of their talents to become normies as we see with the machine Kaede and Shuichi are using. Then Shuichi apparently has memories of the 16 portraits with people assuming they died probably from the SHSL Hunt and you see Shuichi running away from a mob. Then you have him saying he wants to die with everyone. So unless these memories are fake which I don't know why they would be, then I'd assume that some of them may have been willing to participate in this killing game but Tsumugi got involved and erased their memories of wanting to be apart of the killing game to make the game feel more exciting. Could explain why Kaede seems to be forced inside the car and why they look scared.

Plus didn't Rantaro say something about this being the killing game he wanted in his video?

When first official artwork of Kiibo and Maki came out, I was so sure that Kiibo would be the edgy protag while Maki will be the "sidekick" like Kirigiri/Chiaki, and Amami would be the Komaeda/Togami of the trio. Then the came came out and it turns out Kiibo is the cute robo, Maki is another man's irrelevant girl (what a waste of design and voice), and Amami died on the first case (a waste like Maki). Boy I was so wrong.

So in one of his FTE meetings, Kiibo says that he had "died" before and that his past memories prior to this all come from Iidabashi himself.

My theory is this: What if Team Danganronpa didn't actually build Kiibo, but rather stole him from some place, forced reset him (And gave him some slight modifications) and then just started spewing out lies to make him think he was a certain way?

I think on this because Kiibo really only believes his only talent is in his AI system, but come chapter 6, we very clearly see he has combat abilities. What caused him to suddenly go off like this? Losing the atenna, thus TDR losing their control over him. Kiibo was never "theirs" to begin with.
Another point to this theory is that his personality was supposed to be erased after TDR let the viewers take over him, but it very clearly was not. This also got me thinking that TDR doesn't actually know how Kiibo himself works.

So to be put short: Kiibo wasn't built by TDR. He was stolen and reprogrammed to be compatible for what they wanted and Iidabashi just took the general "role" of his creator.

I could see it, but there is one reason I've heard floating around here as to why he has all those combat capabilities: he was the failsafe full party execution in case the game went terribly wrong, or he had such abilities to protect himself (and thus the camera) from being murdered by a super strong or super combat capable student. Think if Maki or Gonta tried to kill him.
