It's like if the mod had his story written by 5 different person from different nation and languages who each had their own plan for it, I'm not joking its a clusterfuck of fanfiction so stupid its a wonder they went ahead with it. Also there are cars but they are so buggy they end up being more of a bother and get caught in anomalies all teh fucking times, with the whirlpool or whatev launching you a good 200-300 feet in the air or that they can be affected by burers.

The full a life mod doesn't do enough. There are so many campfires & areas that were made for stalkers & mutants to go that are barren, even with spawns set to 1.5 or higher.

Also they don't really move from area to area enough. I've never seen factions or mutants assault loner areas or spread accrost the map & walk down the roads & paths to different sites, 90% of entities just sit there at their areas until someone comes close enough to piss them off.

There's so much more that could be done compared to SOC's best alife mods.

The warfare update can't come fast enough.

Also the quest systems for COC need a serious overhaul. Like having quests scale with your rank (distance, rewards, complexity).

Seriously half the damned quests i get send me out past the scorcher before i can get there, or to rescue stalkers from areas full of friendlies.

Or killing fuckers that won't get the hell out of areas like the bar that i need to cheeze the kill with a explosive canister.

Or sending a group of rookies past the scorcher to the red forest or the CNPP.

DoctorXQuestlines was cool, but it breaks quests too much.

I know, and cars were always a stupid idea and many of the maps were simply too big, or designed in such a way that traversing them required elongating the player path, (like Forest.)

Though what I what I think was overdone with the LA maps had more to do with the copy and paste of every level asset as much as possible than just the size of the maps, which did at least make some of them feel less cramped.

A lot of LA's maps including Cordon were based on old Stalker build maps that were superior versions of the SoC maps which were eventually cut down drastically in size.

LA took a lot of the older maps, and then fleshed them out to the point where they added far too many level assets and underground areas in places where it felt like the devs went overboard with the SDK.

I don't like SoC's maps as much as the old build ones, since SoC's maps are claustrophobic and extremely violent, even though the CS ones that CoC uses have much better level assets and set pieces scattered about them.

A lot of the CoP maps were too large and open and not much stuff happens in them.

Some of the original CS maps, like Swamps, and Red Forest are my favorite, even if Red Forest itself has a terrible layout, Limansk and Hospital are examples of this, but then again even Swamps was a rebuilt 1935 Build map.

Not even just spawns, but places all factions migrate to & from, fight over, defend, hunt mutants, do their own jobs.

One modder did something like that for shadow of chernobyl, there were always stalkers moving from place to place killing mutants & taking the areas, some would splinter off & go to other places while others would set up camp in the spot & patrol and defend it.

Others would actually just roam randomly, and some groups would just assault the shit out of other hub areas.

There was constant give & take in each area between factions & mutants. It was pretty fucking awesome.

AMK 1.4.1 (or AMK AE 1.4.1) for SoC, AO+SRP merge for CS, and AO 3.1 or STCoP for CoP. All of which are found in their respective repositories.

So I'm playing around with the outfit upgrade prices. If I set an upgrade to cost 1000 in the files its costs around 2000 in game. Is this normal or is COM doing some thing funky to the pricing?

Also does anyone know of a guide for changing the outfit upgrades and what the values represent.

For example is a radiation upgrade of +0.00033 a lot? What represents 100% radiation resistance?

I feel like some of the upgrades are too weak by default. I would like to do some editing but I dont want to have to boot up the game every time I make a single change to the config files just to test the effect.

Pretty solid, but artifact balance was pretty weird. Some are great and others are absolutely useless.
It uses guns from OWR and a few other authors, so it's good on that front. It also looks pretty good but doesn't add any real new content above normal SoC.

That's what I meant. I was lurking pretty heavily while the ideas were getting thrown around and I like the whole thing conceptually and the thought behind it, but it sounds like implementation fell short somewhere.

I'm not opposed to Rookie Loners packing milsurp and shotguns, same for rookie bandits. But I feel like the Zone should probably be 60-70% AKs.

Freedom and Mercs should be rolling NATO. Freedom would realistically be carrying basic-bitch M-16/M-4 variants while Mercs would be more gucci.

Duty and Military should carry AK74 variants.

Snowflake guns should be borderline-nonexistent.

There was literally like 5 attempts at an online stalker game. I believe only two of them came to fruition as "STALKER online" and "Survarium". There was another short lived one but i cant even recall the name.

For "sequels" you can look to Metro and EFT which are also made by previous STALKER devs.

As for the IP, its still owned by GSC AFAIK.
And I honestly prefer they take their time with a sequel rather than having them pull a Ubisoft and start farming the franchise.

Well I did, on both accounts. Ran out of the last Saiga ammo on the snorks. All I had was the Makarov and a frag grenade. First time I wandered through the left side tunnel and ended up with the fucker right next to me so had to go knife. Tried strafing, but that shit's fucking huge and the tunnel was too narrow. Am sure I landed one hit, not so sure about the second. Next run, headed through the right tunnel and had a longer line of sight so could throw the nade first, run back, and shoot at one of the explosive barrels littered around.

Misery not fun?

If you play the entire Misery in less than 2 years then you are missing so much. Did you realize in Misery that each level changes after you open up a new areas? The Dogs at the vehicle scrapyard are replaced by Pseudodogs. The Bandits to the west of them are replaced by Bandits. Before Yantar you have Modders in the tower in the WT. After the RF they are replaced by a Bear camp nearby. Just because you open an area and see what's there does not mean that it remains that way through out the whole game. Additionally you are most likely not staying around to activate millions of stashes with same unique items.

Game time compared to neet time

01 minute = 06 seconds, 10 minutes = 60 seconds, 60 minutes ( 1 hour ) = 06 miutes

05 hours = 30 minutes, 10 hours = 1 hour, 12 hours = 1 hour 12 minutes, 24 (1 Sun and Moon cycle ) = 2 hours 24 minutes.

48 hours ( 2 Sun and Moon cycles ) = 4 hours 48 minutes, 72 hours ( 3 Sun and Moon cycles ) = 7 hours 12 minutes, 240 hours ( 10 Sun and Moon cycles ) = 24 hours, 720 hours ( 30 Sun and Moon cycles ) = 72 hours,


I usually spend 8640 hours ( 10 years ) in the Cordon before leaving it for the first time to go to Garbage in SoC. A longer Game is where the A-Life truly becomes alive, everything is opend ended. I haven't gone to Pripyat yet.

the only difference between all those models is just the eotech Hud models for the scar + g3.

Outfit addon is a pretty standard mod that almost everyone adds to CoCk. StCoP has more varients but higher quality, AO has more unique guns but the quality is wierd. WeaponsGulash is based off of StCoP and adds more guns that are of equal quality, but it fucks up the NPC loadout so the good majority spawn with shotguns and you will see little weapon variety between enemies.

Which game? Any mods? In the vanilla games you should never have any weight problems. In misery and CoC mods most low tier suits/jackets give you 40+kg of carrying capacity without any upgrades. Just don't be a pack rat, and only loot weapons in good condition. 1 primary weapon and a pistol is all you need early on, leave your other guns in storage.

I noticed that the shadow has the draw animation (world model?) so it's definitely not displaying in 1st person.

Later I found in configs/weapons w_svu.ltx a line that says weapons\svu_draw. Is this supposed to be a animation file somewhere in gamedata? because there's nothing with that name.

The Ruby Pellicle is shit early on, for sure, since you really can't afford that -10% bullet res, but once you're stacked with artifacts and can counter it, oh boy does that 700% health regen come in handy. With my current setup I have a whopping 2550% health regen (and that's with two detectors equipped), and it's fucking fast. As long as I don't get a burst to the face, I can always survive 1-2 hits and quickly heal it right back up in cover.

Shout out to Plasma Caterpiller for being a super easy to make early game artifact (uses controller bezoar, I think I got the recipe from Kruglov) that I'm still using 60+ hours later.

Is CoC's map of the zone based on the actual locations of places or something? Because the placement of Zaton is really fucking awkward. It's always been the comfy starting area in CoP but now all the NPCs there get slaughtered by monolith and zombies and the place is a combat hell.

You can increase their transparency threshold so they can't see through bushes and shit though, although that may have the unfortunate side effect of making them unable to see through chain link fences because of the shitty engine limitations.

Roughly how vision works is NPCs have a metal gear solid vision cone, and when an enemy is in that cone, it tries to draw a line to said enemy. If it is not blocked by terrain, the detection value rises until the bar is full in which they completely "see" you.

The problem is that with transparent objects, it's very much a 1 or 0 when it comes to blocking that "line", so either their vision will be completely obscured, or it will be as if the bush wasn't even there.

Try raising the transparency threshold to 8.

Well that's odd. My stalker is set to .7 at danger and .9 at free, but the bandits, which were the problem here, are set at .25 for both cases. Not exactly sure how that works though, since they don't have free/danger modes, but ranks, normal bandit and commander. They might also use the stalker file but that I just don't know. Overall the army and bandit files use a single transparency value for every rank they have there, and the stalker and zombified stalker have danger/free values. Monolith seems to have neither so probably takes it from the stalker file. So, what now, do I just modify the single rank values then?

Briefly played it years ago, wasn't even remotely on the same level as JP2. The only memorable thing was CS-tier bleeding.

Here, I'll explain the situation to you, since you're seemingly incapable of admitting you're wrong and are admittedly talking out of your ass: In JP2, enemies have a base reaction time of 50 for close range targets. That is in milliseconds. That means after they detect you, the delay before they light you the fuck up with insanely accurate fire is 0.05 seconds. Now, it takes about a second for the player to bring up iron sights, and hipfire doesn't cut it unless you've got 100% perfect aim right off the bat because you WILL be dead after that 50ms if you're within ~20 feet of them.

So please, go play JP2 and show us how much of a badass you are without your crosshairs :^)

Also good fucking luck doing the photography quests without crosshair+range finder.

I've decided on this AMK 1.4.1 Autumn Edition 3.0. Seems more polished and it wraps up the weat her and inventories all in one go.

Don't remember it jamming once, it's also cheap to fix up and, as I mentioned before, with a scope and darts it's pretty damn accurate. Though you do have to crouch for better aiming. Not much of a trade off though considering how all purpose it is. Used to carry the nugget as well, but that's been sitting in the stash at the Bar for a while now. Only downside I see to it is the weight of the rounds, but they're cheap as dirt so can make stashes with them all over the place.
