Are there captains that complement each other better than Enel and Marco? I mean, one reduces damage and has a hp threshold, the other keeps you over the threshold with his autoheal. One has a type boost and drains your HP, the other has the orb boost and heals you back to full. And Marco's multiplier compensates enels sub-2.5x perfectly.

Its never a bad thing to have better orb luck and its never a bad thing to take less damage, but you're acting like DR is a one size fits all socket when in reality that title belongs to bind.

DR isnt that great considering that even stall teams could benefit more from orbs than DR. Having good orb luck reduces the number of turns needed to stall, and if youre planning to get hit then AH is more useful in that case.

DR at its best just ends up forgiving the player for a VERY small margin of error that happens very rarely if the player is planning to stall a raid or FN and has already calculated how much damage he will be taking throughout.

On one hand I think that should you ever get hit with Marco you would want AH instead so you can be back to full HP afterwords.

On the other hand, I also don't think you should ever take damage as Marco if your special isn't up. So maybe damage mitigation would help, but you would have to know exactly how much damage its going to reduce, otherwise you're just wasting time and stamina.

Orb sockets will never ever make or break your ability to farm something.

Sure, but the same goes for taking hits and stalling while compensating with autoheal, too. Obviously if DR is the difference between being able to run something and not, you will have to plan the run out carefully beforehand (or read someone else's plan).

Orbs rarely speed things up anyway because you still need to wait for specials and if you don't it's probably an easy fortnight where you can just bash everything down in one turn with a 3x captain regardless of sockets.

Orbs can be required on difficult runs simply because it frees you up from having to risk attacking for additional turns.
Also, Orbs speed up runs more than you described; ask SW Shanks all about it.

As for the DR thing, yeah I agree that in a carefully planned run it plays a more utilitarian purpose than Orbs would. Having the right orb can even screw up a stall sometimes, so I prefer to treat socket preferrence on a case by case basis.

Orbs sockets is just layers of RNG on top of layers of RNG.

Moria was my white whale for a really long time so mine doesn't have skill ups either. Just go with the overflow method.

Save skill books equal to number of skillups required x5, then feed any excess. If you get a skill up, you now have five extra books and can feed those. If they give you a skill up, you have an extra five now, etc.

That's what I did for Monet, and when I maxed her I decided to be naughty and try Caesar even though I had only 32 of the required 35. When THAT worked, I did Franky but now I'm out of books and still need two more skill ups.

I had to socket legend Lucci last time so my story Lucci has 0 sockets. Thus I'm hoping to be done with WB2 in time to farm Lucci, hence my risky feeding.

I have a lot of downtime at work where I play to avoid going insane though, so I gem for stamina a few times a day. Might not be feasible on natural stamina.
