Sure, they're just not big wars. Basically there might be battles here and there over grudges and shit, but never something big enough to record in history books (unless the Book of Grudges counts as history).

Basically, they fight enough that tabletop player could justify doing a dwarf vs dwarf battle but not enough to change the lore in any meaningful way.

1.) Very small considering there was never an official release of any of those factions. Very little is written about them aside from some side shit for Skaven/Nippon and Grimgor wrecking Cathay in the end times for some reason

3.) There is a lot of creative freedom aside from Samurai and Ronin for Nippon

The only non main faction I could see possibly getting an army is Kislev, because they're in the old world and in a pretty active region of it, and have enough background that it would be possible to make an army out what's there.

It's pretty safe to say that no, Cathay/Ind/Nippon/South Landers et al. wont be included under any circumstances. They have no models, no rules and barely if any substantial lore written about them. They exist as lazy map padding from GW.

There are some fan (read: garbage) rule books for them that are cringy as you might expect. But yeah, ain't ever gonna happen. We'll be lucky if we get Kislev or a Southern Realm faction playable. And they actually have models and lore.

You can get that in Napoleon or FOTS which aren't as buggy and has way better unit responsiveness.

Empire never got the patches it needed, but I am not even sure if that would have saved it.

Well there was another quest tournament for Warhams.

VC were banned most matches for raise dead spam, what VC did sneak through the other player countered with Empire Net&Shot lord sniping.

Greenskins and WElfs usually was a coin flip, WElfs usually dumpstered Empire.

Bretonnia and Beastmen were trash, Beastmen being a worse faction but Bretonnia usually just didn't have optimal picks. Both lack options and builds, however Beastmen require Morghur and 2 Gorebulls and nothing else in that damn army matters.

A lot of hilarious miss-micro involving forgetting about a 1500-ish unit, leaving it in the DZ until mid game.

Bretonnia might be fixed with the official release but the fuck are they going to do about Beasties? They are a fun campaign but damn they suck.

Personally I think Beastmen need to be more of a horde faction. You get shit-tier Ungors for the price of standard infantry and Gors are still too weak for their price. Their monster units are quite nice but get hard countered by cheap spears so you can't just bring only them. Ultimately you're working with the same or fewer troops than your opponent and most of yours are way worse.

Where do Warriors of Chaos stand in all this? Did better chariots Make any difference?

It's a big problem, it's an extra twelve zombies. That block cavalry charges and basically remove all enemy missiles from their primary role. And they can be swarmed up together with everything else and Invocation of Nehek'd.

On ladder in general Chaos is doing fairly decently. Chariots are still forgotten(though I personally like them against some armies). They have quite effective goon squads with Kholek+shaggoth/s, or lord on dragon plus exalted/sorcerer/chaos manticore.

Bestigors are the worst great weapon option out there. The CentigorGW + doggo combo is really good at cav crushing but usually not the most cost effective.

I just find most Beastie units just need too much help to do something useful. Making shit cheaper thus being able to bring more support would help. I think some stat changes should be in order as well so that they can win at something besides Gorebull lord sniping.

There are a lot of "rare" units out there my mang. However CA didn't implement special/rare army limits because they're lazy. I think doing so would really help make gameplay more interesting in both MP and SP.

How do you exploit sieges in Warhammer? Someone here mentioned something about being outside of the cone of fire for the towers or something.

Asking because I'm doing research for a mod I'm working on and I want to test different things to see if I can goad the AI into better behavior. Didn't think it was possible to cheat the towers.

When fantasy isn't afraid to delve into the ugliness or darkness of humanity and reflect this back as fantasy races or encounters it is really awesome to read/consume. Easily the worst part of oldfag Total Wars. It's very clunky, especially if you have to ferry units around the map. I didn't mind it back then, but I can't go back to that pain in the ass system after playing the more recent Total Wars. It's probably the only thing keeping me from another Medieval 2 run.

With the Persians completely bypassing both of my southern armies, they've been allowed to take Dagestan, Astrakhan, and Tartariya while I've been helpless to stop them, as both my other southern cities have enemy armies camped nearby. I sacrificed Karelia to convince Sweden to accept peace so I could close off the northern front but my third army is still mostly depleted. Hopefully I can soon replenish them and move them to counter the Persians.

Magic, while powerful, isn't a game changer and is pretty much artillery. Fantasy locales no one gives a shit about and they already existed in fucking mods. Monsters no one gives a shit about and they HAVE THE EXACT SAME EFFECT AS HEAVY CAVALRY AND ELEPHANTS (or if you want to go further, fucking wardogs in RTW), fantasy units have existed since fucking Roman ninjas and we can do without them (ooh empire, such great fantasy units like greatswords and handgunners, or maybe beastmen with spears, perhaps some beastmen with axes, oh my, sop different), powerful lords are like powerful generals, pretty much, flying units aren't game changers, ranged units (which you must always have, by the way) will kill them.

How do I grab high-tier Roman unit buildings as the Ostrogoths?

Formations have always been trash. They gave arbitrary stat bonuses and either required you to get charged or in R2 you could simple click shieldwall/phalanx in mid combat and get free stats for no real thought.

Wedges are just as pointless, usually trading melee defense for a minor charge bonus.

Squares for turning, columns for shooting gaps, thin for charges, thicker for bracing. The clickables have always been worthless.

The issue isnt (or shouldnt be) that formations are worthless. There is plenty of use for spear/ pike walls, wedge, loose spacing, etc.
The issues are that A) some of them (like wedge) dont work, and B) some of them the unit should just do so they dont get slaughtered, as they would in real life. Micromanaging everything is a pain in the ass.

I recently played a similar empire game. Went after the ultimate grudge achievement and razed Karaz a karak.

It was neat though once I razed it suddenly every dwarf army that faced me ended up with tons of slayers. I guess their new capital had a slayer shrine or something. but it felt really thematic. Suddenly all the dwarves who couldn't live with the shame of letting Karaz a Karak fall started to wage war against the empire.

Also empire on dwarf battles can be pretty fun especially when it ends up turning into a napoleonic musket fight with artillery.

Formations are a garbage feature as they are implemented in total war games.
Some are negative for your unit in every circumstance, as wedge.

Why does everyone say Skarsnik is hard? Just raid your lands, kill rebels, get a WAAGH and by then Skarsnik will be leveled up enough to have enough upgrades to make Gobbos competitive with orcs. It is arguably easier than the Greenskins/Blood Handz because you can sit on your ass. The Greenskins are actually pretty RNG dependent like the Empire, the dorfs sometimes come straight at you. The Bloody Handz are pretty hard because the Border Princes always come at you and the Top Knotz always DOW you within the first 15 turns. It is kind of hard honestly. I'd say Bloody Handz are the hardest because Savages are terrible and you have to deal with the Border Princes, Top Knotz, Teef Snatcherz, and dorfs.

The Dwarves in LotR make me want to fucking wretch, and none of the factions really feel like anything of worth outside of Gondor, Mordor, and Frodo party, considering eventually Mordor would have won no matter what, and Sarumon had no chance against Sauron even though I love the dude. Empire was designed not to rely on monsters as a faction flavor. Much like everything else lacks something.

Anything that is not perfectly human is a mutant that needs to be killed. Since beastmen and skaven are humanoid mutations kinda warranted. Giants would never fit in he society only Ogres can since they are slightly more human and barely do so at that as mercs.

Forgeworld is a subsidiary of GW that does higher quality, specialized resin figures and models for the GW games. This can range from single miniatures to entire armies, but the ones they're most known for, or at least most infamous, are the really massive models for unique or legendary units from the respective game's lore.

Forgeworld models tend to be more for collectors, and often aren't allowed to be used in actual tabletop gaming, but they do have rules and such, so it's not as though CA couldn't put them in the game.

They don't really hold a line so much as wage an attritional style war. and keep coming in with charge bonuses every time they re engage.

Oh and top tier goblin units are all great. Doom Divers and the Spider. Spiders are great.

Without rare/special caps not having AP damage sucks, that coupled with having no armor sucks. Against low-tier infantry savage orcs are great at chopping at the flanks and killing quickly.

Yes, mostly leadership, some melee attack and defence as well I think.
There is a battle difficulty slider in game(esc, campaign options), its default position is the same you set campaign difficulty though you can lower the battle difficulty slider later.

Or you could if it wasn't bugged right now.

Oh absolutely savage orcs should not be in an army going against stunites. However if you are going north to fuck up Empire, Brets, and Vampires savage orcs are a great way to cleave through state troops, peasants, and zombie/skellies. If only that tool was useful, but late game spam will retire all savage orcs.
