The "YUGE PLAYER DECLINE" is not even "huge" to begin with. People make a big deal about it over ~50k players, which is peanuts in the grand scheme of things.

I remember when people said Reborn doomed dota because 15% of the playerbase left and made similar garbage comments about the game "dying".

Turns out there was nothing wrong with the game itself and it got sorted out later.

Am I blind? The loss of average player base since 7.00 was 2%, and that came after a 1.6% growth immediately after the patch dropped, which leads to a diminutive change in average players.

The big loss of population happened nearly a month before we knew a single thing about 7.00, where we lost 8% in November (at the end of the Boston major) and also lost a massive number of unique players.

This appears to have nothing to do with 7 and everything to do with the end of the Dota season.

that's not RTS, the only similarity is camera perspective and basic controls
play tutorial and couple of games with bots first
read Purge guide and play another couple of games with bots, but don't play too much with them, it forms bad habits
watch some Purge hero guides and start playing with real people in limited heroes and least played modes
then you should play whatever you want, just don't make rookie mistake and don't play ranked as soon as it becomes available to you
