Redeye made an effort to keep up with the meta and all the players and teams and recent tourney results while someone like Kaci only reads liquipedia 2 weeks before TI and just shows up.
I didn't like him as a SC2 personality because his shows weren't actually about Starcraft, but they were about himself. That's why he called it the "Day9" show. That's why he would pause replays and then switch the screen over to himself and tell an unfunny anecdote every 5mins.
This was more obvious when he would just stop hosting smaller events and only show up for Blizzcon to get his paycheck, then disappear to other hosting gigs for other games for the year.

Some people are upset that he appears to be cashing in on DoTA's popularity and others are saying that he has the connections and he is putting out content, therefore he is a fit for the community and game as a whole.

Both of these seem like valid points- On one hand he is going through all of the motions that anyone else involved in the 'professional non-player' scene goes through, but on the other hand it seems apparent that he's been around for all of DoTA2's existence but didn't involve himself with the community at all up until this point.

Even if you account for how Dota's population fluctuates with TIs I think it's safe to say that Dota 2 has finally stopped growing and is in an actual decline, but it's also still a huge game with enormous amounts of money and viewership.

It's also one of the biggest games among a certain demographic so it would be foolish to assume that just because it's no longer growing there isn't any interest or money in it.

You can literally start killing heroes easily at level 4 because of Swarm and the offlane changes probably benefited him the most.

Mobility and time lapse don't make you deal more damage.
Double attack does, but it's cooldown based and still sucks dps wise.
Minus armor increases dps, but works the same on support weaver.
You wouldnt say dazzle is a good dps hero because he has minus armor either.

Fair points, I think the first point you make is chronically under-emphasized by content creators, players, casters, hosts, and anyone 'in the money'. SC2 couldn't sustain itself despite there being a lot of money and tournaments (one could argue too many tournaments was a bad thing and that Dota worked around this issue) because there was just nobody playing the game. Everybody lost interest, and no players meant no viewers which meant no money.

Everyone involved in Dota knew there would be a payout because of the game's popularity but up until around TI3 the majority of Dota 2 people hadn't really made much money, but TI pay combined with event pay (and BTS pay for those involved with English events) changed that.

People were putting out a lot of content and working hard to establish themselves in the scene because they knew they had to if they wanted to get their feet in the door with Valve events and other things, which isn't really the case anymore.

Dota 2 still has a lot of events and money, but the player population is declining and the people who are involved in nurturing interest in the game and providing entertainment are already payed out pretty nicely.

If events and money arent enough to boost Dota's population and get it growing again then what do you think it would take? Is it just inevitable that the game is going to decline in popularity, population, and viewership?

This game is 10 years old. We tend to forget about this due to the constant patches and tournaments as well as content keeping it busy.

7.00 was very obvious in what its goals were. The HOTS talent tree and the UI looking almost identical to LoL was to facilitate people into Dota as a failsafe if the LoL and HOTS bubbles ever burst.

The baseline requirement for a popular game is: fun. Dota's a well designed game to seem "fun". The hype and money comes with it afterwards.
