I usually fill most of my settlements with containers, miscellaneous loot, clutter: it makes everything look more real, like there's actually come people scavenging stuff, a stuffing it around the whole settlement.

Look at Diamond City, the so called "Jewel of the Commonwealth": it's just a random mess of shacks, walls and fortifications are made of wood and tires, the place looks like a mess.
Or Abernathy's farm, where there's this huge antenna and they used it as the wireframe for the whole house.

The more the settlement look like a clusterfuck, the more is lore friendly

Best ENB for Fallout 4?

So far I've tried Royal ENB and Enhanced Wasteland ENB/Reshade.

Why do most ENBs make everything darker? Like way too dark even during the daytime, it feels like I'm wearing sunglasses. The sky should be much brighter. Royal ENB makes everything even darker than Enhanced Wasteland.

With ENBs everything is either too dark, or too cartoony. Haven't found a happy medium yet.

Subtle ENB is a good base but if you want something specific then you have to open up the in-game UI of ENB and start tinkering with the settings. Takes a while before you learn what everything does but atleast you can see the effect immediately in the game.

Winter time Commonweath is comfy as fuck. Why didn't I realize this sooner? It's perfect for survival if you roleplay a little like trying to find warm shelter etc.

Not exactly, but I think I'm gonna include it with the plasma caster mod, so it will be easier to get materials to craft the ammo.

I might make that machine also accumulate acid, too. Like each harvest "cycle" and it will make an item thats 7 acid, and 3 nuclear material. I found out how to make it work though. Funnily enough I have to set it to be a farmable FOOD item. Im debating on whether or not to make it so settlers have to work on it to get it to produce stuff. That would prevent people spamming the shit out of it (gonna make it placeable anywhere), unless of course they had the settlers / a bunch of fuckin robots to do all the work.

I kinda like the idea of making it a work station for settlers, would be kinda cool to have a designated settler working on it, and wearing a rad suit, or having a protectron do it since its immune to radiation anyway. I kinda want to balance this in a way where even high level players have to devote a lot of materials and strategically plan out building a radiation farm, rather than place down 30 of them in a settlement they never use and suddenly they have 210 acid and 90 nuclear material a day. But that would be doable with robots / a whole bunch of settlers.

I am struggling to find a reason to play or finish any of these textures I've started.
My current playthrough has reached it's logical conclusion and there's nothing really to do. Nothing is a challenge and survival is just stat juggling tedium. With Skyrim I had such a comfy time just camping in the woods and hunting animals for pelts but the CommWealth doesn't feel like a place to survive. There's too many set pieces and there's no wilderness to contend with. Just a gorrilion identical raiders. Every location you visit is chock full of enemies. Nothing feels empty and abandoned. I've always said it felt like there was too much going on in FO4. The Mojave and Skyrim was great because it was a wildnerness, it felt empty and unforgiving. There's no feeling of that when you're stumbling into a new raider camp every 3 seconds. There's never any need to rough it against the elements because you're not more than a gnats dick from a settlement at any given moment. Maybe it's just comfier being an old timey hunter but if there were bigger swathes of land with shit that had reason to exist other than "HERE'S MORE STUFF TO SHOOT" like the caves full of spiders and bears and mountain trolls felt natural in the wilderness. The 27th house with ghouls/gunners/raiders in it doesn't. Which is odd because I often feel there isn't anything to do in FO4 despite what I've just said, you're just blasting your way through the wastes, not having a post apocalyptic adventure. Maybe I'm just waiting for a real successor to frost-fall with the cold and proper needs, comfy camping and such. I don't really know what I want. It doesn't feel like the remnants of humanity clinging to life in the post nuclear dustbowl. I'd love to be able to be a mountain man again. Sleeping rough in *actually* abandoned buildings or the wilderness. Hunting radstags for food and selling their pelts for profit. Trusty rifle at my side, eeking out a meager existence. Not being the fucking terminator.

If I were to uninstall it and add some more mods, then reinstall it at the bottom of my load order would that cause any problems when I load my save back up as far as inventory that Ive already picked up?

I've had problems with NMM not installing textures properly. Not a real issue but it bugs me how long it takes to activate or deactivate mods compared to MO.

The tradeoffs are definitely something to consider before committing though

melee weapon pools are much larger, actually benefit from 10x or higher ninja crits, and generally have more variety in mods. Can be used in PA

unarmed only crits 4.5x in sneaks, has a smaller weapon pool, but you get to beat shit to death with modded PA fists which is fucking awesome. Also something to note is i personally like the backstab execution animation a good deal more on unarmed

PA gives a ton of utiltiy to both melee and unarmed. Pain train, jet packs for on command impact stuns, and the boost to strength are very nice additions to unamred or melee so yes science

So I want to ask, did anyone try out a critical build using rifles ? Got Fallout 4 on Christmas and just got done with my second playthrough of Fallout 4, trying to play like I'd play if I was in the first senario, and the second playthrough acting like a pure asshole who only cares about himself.

This has to be some kind of joke, right? NO matter how I tried to play the game, it felt like I was doing the same playthrough. No actual choices to role play and it just felt like I was playing borderlands-lite with a "story and choices" hastily put on.
All the characters felt more real than previous games and the story felt so fleshed out, but it just didn't feel like I had any choices in what to do, just what ending I wanted. I really wanted to like the game, but it kept on pushing me away, the main character wasn't me it was just another guy I was seeing the story through.

I loved everything about the game, the shooting, the companions, the settlements, but I just didn't feel like it was Fallout. I hope Bethesda hires actual writers for the next game, because F4 felt like it had so much potential but no actual execution of that potential.

Is there any way I can alleviate the crashing in the goodneighbor area? I think it's from running out of memory because I only have the issue in that specific area and only when I open up the pipboy/start sprinting.

i installed every only stuff that will not hinder new vegas in any way

nvac, nvsr, 4gb patch, lutana, jip,casm, mtui, yup, adn jsawyer ultimate.
I think this would bring maximum performance without adding anything ground breaking. i even made a backup of this currently moded new vegas.
thing is i am afraid of start modding and breaking something again. I got the hang out of geck and fnedit but still brahs.

I get my biggest question is how can i install multiple body types without having weird textures?

i tried doing fco, type 3, roberts and breeze and i got some awful incompatibility and results.
any help appreciated.

We've discussed this before but the issue falls on Bethesda's writing and direction ultimately not knowing what kind of game they want to make.

They want to keep the open world RPG that is the standard of Fallout but they want to add a strong central narrative that utterly fucks the RPG aspect of the game and creates a disjointed playing experience.

The writing from the central story is flimsy at best and falls apart the second you get distracted by side quests.

I actually had to laugh when I realized little things that I found throughout the Commonwealth had way more emotional impact than the main story did, with far less effort.

Should begood since they are 1 mod per one thing (ie one mod for women meshes, one mod for faces and body textures)

together is probably what is causing the problems as they try to apply their own meshes ant textures to the same file (male body).
Essentially Roberts textures are only mapped out properly on Roberts meshes, the same with Breeze's,so a mixup of meshes and textures will most definitely get you problems (ir Breeze's texture mapping on Robert's meshes). UNLESS you set up the files in a way to make it so that one of the mods only affect the actual body, and the other only affects the body mesh that is worn over armor, since (this part I'm not sure about) I'm pretty sure armors are rigged over one type of mesh.

Your best bet is to choose between either Roberts or Breezes, and if there's other problems beyond that then maybe it might have something to do with archive invalidation or something around those lines.

Make the game track enough of how the player plays, does while playing, and how they choose to complete other objectives and have those things affect the other quests and shit the game sends you on and just pile on the ways they can be completed.

It would have such a long reload animation (which would also be a pain in the ass to animate) which means it'll basically be a novelty balance-wise. I've figured out animation recently and I am pretty decent with modeling guns but it's a lot of effort for a gun that wouldn't really be all that much fun in the end.

Of course you could do it with a broken animation and shit like Millenia did in NV but I don't really want to bother at all unless the animations are high-quality.

The closest thing you'll probably get is porting Millenia's 1849 Pocket revolver to FO4 on the .44 magnum animations, and the reload will look really wierd if you do that.

Personally, I like the weather and foliage mods. I think the fog, rain and greenery add far more atmosphere and make it feel more intimidating than vanilla. Also a difficulty mod, because I like being able to kill shit easily and die just as easily. I hate emptying rounds in to a super mutant while I tank everything. I like scrap everything for settlements too, and an extended build limit. Possibly also extra settlement content if you want that.
Aside from that, just look through the categories you want and find shit you like.

Speaking of crafting perks, what are some good weapons that require NONE of them ? Like for example the Railway rifle for a Rifleman character - it requires no upgrades to mount the basic scopes and increase it's damage.

the Cryolator has no perk requirements. with the Crystalizing Barrel and points in Demolition Expert, it can do insane damage and stagger on each hit, due to the crystal projectiles' explosion effect.

Lorenzo's Artifact shares similar characteristics and doesn't need any mods to do great damage. Admiral's Friend is another Heavy Gunner weapon that doesn't need perks to be powerful.

Coming back to Fallout 4 after a few months due to the mods being finally added to PS4 and I'm looking for some recommendations on what to get to mix it up. I'm checking this immersive-gameplay thing since I liked the name but is it any good ? Looking at the rundown but it's just some general shit, no raw numbers to know if a gatling laser/missile launcher/melee/power armor build I'm planning won't turn out to be a train wreck.

NVR2 suffers from many NPCs looking too similar, for example, Cass and Veronica.

NVR3 isn't perfect, but it's objectively the best looking one. It's either that, or going for New Vegas Character Expansions: much more compatibility, uses vanilla assets, overall "the best" mod, but also the one that looks more like shit.

I remember reading once in this general that New Vegas' DT system was shit.

I would like to see that debate again, because at the time I wasn't really following it, but now I'm very interested in it. Would anyone mind explaining why?

The biggest issue I see is that DT means you can be effectively fucked against some enemies if you don't choose the best weapon available, but are there any more obscure issues I'm missing?

The basic summary is that, due to DT being a straight subtraction based system, and damage negation being caped at 80%, it means that even some pretty early game light armor can take most weak enemies weapons down to the 80% damage cap, making medium and heavy armors worthless.

On the other hand, when it comes to enemies with really powerful weapons, the straight subtraction system DT uses means that you will never save a significant amount of damage off high end weaponry for it to matter.

Even at max level, with the absolute most base health you can have, going from Vault security armor, to Enclave APA, lets you survive literally less then 1 shot more from an AMR.

both of these problems combined means that medium and heavy armor are effectively worthless in New Vegas, as they slow your movement speed down 15-20%, take up more of your max inventory weight, and cost many times more to repair then light armor, all for basically zero damage negation increases across more then 2/3rds of the weapons in the game.

Sawyer fixed the problem in his mod by giving medium and heavy armors DR, but the problem simply wouldn't have existed i nthe first place had they used DR in the beginning, because DR's % based damage negation system means "better" armors will always reduce more damage

Now I understand the whole debate between DR vs DT vs DR & DT, and why in my opinion DR & DT is just the better system. You can effectively have Power Armor negate the shittier weapons, while still doing some serious reduction to the overall weapon spectrum.

Get me an actual patch that removes all the extra placed NPCs like the fucking captures (not slaves, captures) in giant cages smack dab in the middle of the Fort. Pissed me off enough that I actually sort of made a patch for it, but I never got back to the Fort after making it and before redoing my mod set up. The corpses that are nude and/or had their clothing torn open are also overkill, and jarring if you don't have a nude body replacer already.

There's also the problem of it relying on the old version of FCO with the fucked up file paths. And then the issue of the heads being fatter and clipping into goggles, the solution to which was to remove the goggle mesh from helmets with them instead of, you know, actually fixing the problem. Which I then attempted to do in Outfit Studio.

Fuck, I had been using NVCE and Hall of Face until I actually took a look at the latter's textures and remembered the "Hall of" textures are all upscaled and sharpened shit. Stole the hair meshes and textures from FCO though, they look nice. Haven't tried to see if the vanilla face textures from it work though.

Yes, and Fallout 1 already had it...
Fallout 4 uses some kind of "armor" stat like in Skyrim, which relies only on multiplicative formulas, same kind as DR, just less transparent and with some kind of diminishing returns.
DT in new vegas was... well... limited. As it would not block 100% of the damage. A Minigun would still hit you for 1-2 damage even if you had the best armor (or even cheating your DT value), minimum was 20% after DR (was barely used ingame), no matter what. DT only would be ok in my opinion, if it was implemented correctly (aka effectively negating low caliber/shit pipe/non-AP), DR&DT would allow for more variety, which is good too.

Regarding textures, have you thought about using body replacers, or is that out of the question? They add better looking textures than vanilla. It's also possible to use ONLY the face and body textures from NVR3 without having to install everything. Just hit me up and I'll cook it up for you.

The face textures for Roberts might as well be vanilla ones, they're low res, and despite the textures not being overwritten, the color is completely off compared to the bodies. You could try to do the following, as making a zip at the moment seems kind of pointless:

- Unpack NVR3.
- Unpack the update, paste it on top.
- Delete every .esp, .esm, sound, music, and meshes folders.
- Make a zip out of that, install as you would install any mod.

There's the chance the mod will work as a seamless replacer for meshes and textures.

I've reached a point on New Vegas in which I crash to desk-top frequently. This started happening after I downloaded a few more mods. I already have the 4GB Patcher. I don't have a huge number of mods nor are they particularly intensive. I have found that I have two separate modules of RAM, one which is 2GB and the other which is 8GB. I have no idea how this works so my question is, is it possible only the 2GB is applying to New Vegas or will it be the whole 10gb? Uh, no, that was Lonesome Road. They didn't fire anyone (or at least no one relevant to this explanation), they just had different writers write different parts of the game, and they had different writers leading for the different DLCs. I forget who wrote that one, but the idea was more cheesy sci-fi sorts of stuff to fit the theme. The penis jokes were stupid, but I personally loved the rest of the writing. You've got all this stuff being played up, and the evil scientist guy turns out to be a senile old man who had put all his friends into loops, and forgets things because it's better that way.

A bashed patch is good to have anyways. It'll let you know what mods can be completely merged. Otherwise there's some standalone merged patch maker, but I'd compare the weapons in FO4Edit to see if any of them edit the same thing, like leveled lists, which would then benefit from a bashed patch. I honestly don't know if the standalone merger can combine leveled lists.

You should also delete every "Race" that is not associated with Vulpes, as maybe the author gave Vulpes his own race. Basically, delete EVERYTHING not editing Vulpes.

The BoS's version of the molecular relay works perfectly, only a few tubes fell out of place.

Both the railroad and minutemen's molecular relay boosters exploded when you left. They both literally believed they just killed you until you teleport out with help from the Institute.

I think it depends on in whose company said robots are in. You can bring Nick into the Prydwen and the grunts will insult him, but they don't dare attack.

Obviously the BOS would not revere sentient robots. If they had custody, they would probably put them to use somewhere but where they could do the least harm while being the most useful. Remember that, should you side with the BOS to finish the game, they ask you to reprogram P.A.M. and bring it aboard. So yeah, they definitely accommodate artificial intelligence.

Never bothered with the NV BoS, neither quests nor removal, but now that I'm doing an Enclave remnant playthrough, I feel I need to dispose of them in the most vindictive way possible. How are they usually taken care of? Just stomping through the door in Enclave power armour and start going to town? Is there some manner of screwing them over first in their quest? What are the signs that you have too many esps running?

Random missing objects, invisible bodies and armour and black/shifting textures all on shit that usually works fine? Doesn't happen right away either, I can walk through an area, fast travel back and there are ! everywhere and the rocks are black. It seems to happen whenever I add a new esp to the load order, thought at first it was a particular mod, but it seems to happen whenever I add new ones and disappears when I remove them.

My New Vegas folder is a colossal mess of whatever I have crammed into it since not long after NV's release, then lost it along with three computers and miraculously recovered it about three or more times. I'm not sure where one mod ends and another begins, several GB of unused textures and meshes and there is a whole bunch that I'm not sure where to get anymore including weird nip shit and VGU. I'm just waiting for the day when the whole house of cards comes down and I won't be able to save it. I can't exactly see it, but I know it probably just hangs in a thread and I'm scared of messing with it.

Full evil is when Home Sweet Home is completed to the point where you take over a settlement in the Commonwealth for the raiders. At that point Preston automatically hates you no matter where he is.

Personally, I did a dumb thing and did Open Season before completing the Grand Tour because I wanted to explore the parks without raider interference. But it turns out that once you assign raiders to the 5 different parks, they will respawn regularly with legendaries which gives you a chance to grab good loot off of them.

I'm not gonna do that. Mainly because I'm not sure how to make the station actually "find" your captured creatures from another DLC.

It would be a lot easier if it was self contained. Also they would be followers without mods. I'll probably make them a bit more difficult to "create". They'll have synth chips to keep them docile without needing the device on your settlement. So basically you'll be able to make synth Deathclaws with armor.

They'll require bone and a certain amount of meat, and a few synth chips for each creature. Once you make them though, they'll be essential, followers, and maybe also settlers. Tell your deathclaw to farm! I'm sure its claws would work well for plowing the ground.

Vegas just had real replayability.
You could save the city or just ruin everything for the hell of it. You could take over the wastes with your own band of murderous robots/raiders/PA goons or just say fuck it and be a cog in the machine for the NCR or the Legion.

In 4lout you can save your son with these guys, or save your son with those guys. Some of the guys blow up the other guys too but they're all interchangeable so who gives a shit.

A legion playthrough felt different to an NCR one but a Railroad and Minuteman playthrough might as well be the same damned thing. The faction quests are very unengaging and feel like rote side quests rather than the focus of a playthrough. At no point do you feel like a BOS soldier or Railroad infiltrator. You're just a guy doing jobs for them to save your son.

you have to run EVERYTHING in the directory as administrator, in compatability mode for XP/Vista and download games for windows live, limit it to 2 cores in the FALLOUT.INI file and run it in Windowed mode with the fake fullscreen mod (to fake fullscreen because for some reason bethesda games work better that way) and disable steam overlay for the game.

I think they nailed the "mercenary-soldier" feel, but the fact they look way cooler than the Minutemen, yeah that bothers me too. Thanks to some mods I can edit combat armors and give them to my militia; also a mod like We Are the Minutemen makes them a little more powerful.
But it's basically a factions where its members aren't really soldiers, more like farmers and common settlers that want to help other people, and they grab whatever weapon they got.
They lack the Gunners' military-grade training: but this is a Bethesda game and we are the good guys, so..

Radiation in the Fallout universe does not work the same as the real world, don't know how many times that has to be repeated. There's a mod that fixes that, starting them out as neutral until you go hostile on them. The AI programming is probably beyond Bethesda, but they should have had all the first encounters with Gunners automatically be treated as dialogue events, where they hold their guns out to show you they're mercenaries, and they initiate a dialogue to tell you to pay a toll or not come through for whatever reason. Establish that they're mercenaries and that you stay out of their way or you go around them.

Thinking about it, isn't that how the Asylum is? They're non-hostile Gunners by default?

Are you using the bugfix patch? Someone else made it, so it's on a different page. Otherwise just a botched install, happened to me when I was installing it just the other day, too. Like it physically can't work on the first try. Also maybe do select one of the teeth options, that was what messed it up the first time, not choosing one.

The game itself speeds up based on the FPS. Physics might not break in the same way it does in that one opening scene in that not fallout game, but anything above 60 will start having issues.
