Unmitigated damage cap is a hard 999, which a 122 defense shield with a daytime rune reduces to 749. The bit rune halves that amount 374 if your hp ends in 0 or 1. Level 99 Shiren only has 473 HP if you don't overheal with grass, and gitan mamels have double speed so RIP.

I did a preliminary test with a Gitan Mamel34, and it also hit 999 while only taking 1 point of damage from a 99 attack sword. Interestingly, reflection damage is calculated based on actual hp loss and ignores "overkill" damage if you're saved by a bracelet or the juicy peach effect (maybe). No reflect damage if you collapse though.

The game is set up in chunks where you get a goal, or multiple goals and once you beat them it asks if you want to advance to the next chapter, or stay in the current chapter for the time being whenever you enter your Atelier. It also gives you some other smaller type goals like craft some equipment or accessories and completing them earns you experience or something small like that. Those aren't necessary to advance the plot or proceed to the next chapter so you can skip them if you want.
Later chapters show more of the story and open up new areas, and put more alchemy books with recipes in the stores that you use to progress.

Hi vitagen. I'm kinda a normie and haven't used my Vita on a regular basis the past year but it's 4 years old and always loved it.

I leave it laying around in standby mode all the time. I plugged it into the charger because the screen wouldn't come on and left it for the day. Last night I picked it up and it was really warm with the blue light on but looked weirdly dim on the home button. It took seconds after hitting the power button to wake and the touch screen wasn't responding. So I held the power till it shut off. Now it won't go past this screen. Shutting it off makes it restart without hitting anything. It won't boot into that screen holding Power/RT/Home.

So I left it on the screen to let the battery die. 9 hours later it was still on that screen. So now the screen is probably ruined but now the battery finally died when I was at work. Anything I can do to fix it? I'm afraid of it just doing the same thing if I put it on the charger.
