this is my winter base. It's on a tundra. It's VERY cold, i had a very hard time getting food without hydroponics, normal crops die very quickly, also the ai sent a lot of blights and eclipses, dunno why.

Now im self sustainable, the strongest part of it is the workshop in which i produce a lot of useful things but mainly, hipstery pretentious works of art that the only non tribal faction on the world pays insane amounts of silver for. I have three dedicated artists

Also, most of my colonists have royal beds. including the prisoner wings.

Im currently working on creating a parallel electricity system so that my hydroponics will be completely independent. My power is generated with solar wind and geo, wood is hard to come by so i dont have generators, maybe next summer ill plant a billion trees for that purpose.

I was thinking on rebuilding the whole base in another part of the map or just acquiring a lot of muffalos and emigrate to warmer climates, anyone attempted this? Wait do i need muffalos to emigrate?, cant i just travel with a lot of pods?

The construction of the grand temple continues. It will be a concetrical structure of three tiers.
Tier one will be for civil housing, production and common storage.
Tier two will house the military and the weapons, as well as acting as a buffer in the case of a raid.
Tier three will be the main temple, the mausoleum and house the (Not yet crowned) God-king Pigeon.

If you want to emigrate, you could theoretically do it with pods, but they would cost a fuckton of steel and components, as well as chemfuel, and they can only hold 75kg, including the colonist. So, unless you have a mod like deepdrill i wouldn't recomend it.
Muffalos on the other hand only need grass, but you don't even have that, land travel cost also a fuckton of food and it's painfully slow.

I need some tactical advice to deal with this.

3 of the scythers have good quality lances and I don't have anything that can outrange them. Steel is scarce so mortars are out of the question. I have a personal shield to bait them with but my first attempt at it ended with the good quality lances insta-popping it.

Should I just pack up my shit and leave? There's no way I can get a decent hit on them with all that empty space between me and them.

Last time i checkd, it reduced manipulation slightly, around 10% i think. It upgrades the fist attack from 5 to 15.
I mean, in vanilla thats a lot, but it could be better.
It may be worth if your colonist has high shooting and melee skill. You equip him a gun and he now has two decent attacks.
Just make sure he never EVER gets a mental break.

Yes, it's an effective and efficient way to warm up bases in maps that are too warm to warrant full-time heaters but not so cold that you can let your freezer natural "freeze" from the outside temperature.

Bat and Hillary are constantly beating the shit out of each other, and then they have to stay in the same room as each other because they're both injured, which leads to them getting into another fight and having to stay even longer, and also making them hate each other even more. They also hate each other even more because they've disfigured each other, and are also getting upset because the hospital is now covered in blood from their fights. I guess I should like, separate them, but there's got to be a more fun way to deal with this situation. I'd lock them naked in a cold prison cell together, but I sort of need them to get back to work at some point.

Well, you could probably find some way to do that. Medieval times makes you progress through several tiers of smithing before you get electricity, so unless you're rushing it you're in the medieval period for quite a while anyway. But if you want to stay there forever, aside from just not researching anything above 'medieval' technologies, I'm sure there's some scenario setting or mod that helps with that.

My solution at the moment is walling off the drugs with a wooden wall and breaking it down when I need them. It's not as awkward as it sounds really, but it would be unfeasible for a map without lots of wood or another weak material.

If you feel like wasting it, steel is stronger than stone. Didn't used to be, used to be between wood and stone, which was kind of dumb, not sure when it changed. It has the benefit of being faster to get lots of and being stronger, but also, you probably don't want to use it to build much. Oh, doors made of steel open a lot faster than stone doors, too, so making doors out of steel is a good idea if you can spare a bit.

Okay, i've been playing around with the Maid Costume mod, both original and the one anon modified to be more aesthetic than functional, and i believe there should be both with a new balancing. Base requirement would be 75 cloth, 75 devilstrand silk and 10 silver (which actually will be 200 silver, due to the multiplier), base social impact is +20%.
Nurse Maid gets a 10% bonus to healing quality and healing speed and 5% to operation speed and success chance, crafting requires an additional 3 medpacks and 5 (100) silver, because silver is sterile.
Chef Maid gives a 10% speed bonus to cooking as well as a 15% reduction in poisoning chance, requiring an additional 50 cloth and 25 leather.
Crafter Maid will get a 10% workspeed and 15% construction speed and smoothing speed bonus, as well as a 10% reduction in fail chance. It will require 2 components, 20 steel, 1 (20) silver and 1 (20) gold.
Header (or Leader) Maid will have 10% recruit prisoner chance, 5% trading bonus as well as an additional 30% social impact. It will require 3 gold and an extra 10 silver.
Since the Fighter Maid costume is basically a frilly pretty armor with 45% sharp and blunt damage reduction, it will require 25 steel and 50 plasteel.
I dont know how to feel about the Cleaner Maid, so i'd make it a simple baseline outfit without any boni, or maybe 5% workspeed.
These stats are my first draft so far, so if someone feels like they are too cheap/costly or stats are too low/high, feel free to voice critique.

If you want some criticism though, the shields are too big. If you look at historical art (this is a good enough reference, I think?), you'll see that the shield are about half the size of that. Obviously it depends on what mods you have installed but I have about 50 and it doesn't cause any real problems.

You'll probably want to be starting as tribals with the medieval mod. I mean, you can still use the stuff as colonist level guys, but obviously a lot of it is obsolete. You also have the option of starting at a 'custom' tech level, by editing the tribal scenario to have you starting off with more techs. I did that for my second medieval mod run, when I wanted to start at the start of the 'medieval' period, instead of going through the tribal stage again.

Also, I'd recommend the tech advancing mod if you don't have it. That way once you've researched all or half (you can pick which) of one level of tech, you advance and don't get the penalty to research rate of higher levels. So if you research all or half of the tribal techs, you become medieval and don't get the penalty for researching medieval techs and so on. Unless you want your research rate to be slow as shit for most of the game, which I dunno, you might.

It works better as a preventative.

With this setup, you still need to spend medicine, hospital time and doctor time to treat. Don't forget that "X has the Plague" message pops up at 40% Plague infection: You only buy yourself a 20% buffer by dosing post infection. To be more accurate, it's the only way you'll beat Plague without perfect conditions or Lucifernum. There's also still a chance that it won't be sufficient with pawns that have damaged kidneys or are older.

I'd take 8 a year over trying to take less and having to hope your doctor isn't the one who goes down.

Of course, you could hybridize the scenario, and keep essential personnel dosed while non-essentials are dosed after infection.

Manhunters etc are a problem at the start then free meat later, so I can agree with that. It's unbalanced. Same goes for diseases: a pain if you don't have a good doctor, a clean hospital and medicine. Manageable later on, but fatal at the start. Crop blight is nonsensical and I don't like it. Blight doesn't work like that. Short circuits are a minor problem.
What you've done is remove some early game RNG and blight. I can live with those (except blight which I've swapped with a mod), but I can understand the frustration of a colony being wiped because of RNG bullshit. I don't understand what the fuss is about short circuits. Everyone seems to complain about them. They're just a minor annoyance.

You're certain they're pirates? If so, all pirates have spacer tech level by default.
If you go to Mods>Core>Defs>FactionDefs and open Factions_Misc you can change their tech level there. It should be line 206. Just change spacer to industrial and they'll have the same guns and stuff as outlanders.

Early access is only bad when you end up with trainwrecks like Starbound. Rimworld could pass for a full game already. That's the difference. EA is objectively wrong when there's no plan, no delivered promises and blatantly ripping off the consumer. You could argue that Rimworld's dev has no plan, but his product doesn't reflect that at all. Compare again to Starbound: no plan and no clue. They added and removed features constantly which led to a halfbaked "finished" game. Their product never really came together. The end product is what matters (delivered on a timely schedule) and Rimworld succeeds in that where many other EA games have failed.

tl;dr: EA is only bad when the dev team and game are bad.

Also the mod has a bunch of creepy monsters, you can summon them accidentally.

Shit, these guys are hard to feed. They ate 3 human corpses in one feeding. I constantly hunt because they only eat meat and corpses. They eat all the raiders, too, because there's no downing with these guys they straight up kill everything.
Last winter I had to feed my black goats their own babies, I don't know what I'm gonna do this year.
