It's all really about which layer you wanna give up for shields, the top clothing layer or the weapon layer. If the shield gets the top layer, i'll have to make my armor for the middle layer.

There aren't really good answers to these without mods, aside from MAYBE trying to use blunt weapons to capture them (although I'm pretty sure it's rigged to just kill them anyway if the AI wants them to die). Psychopaths don't get sad from selling slaves. It's pretty hard to get a whole colony of psychopaths, though. You can always like, get the non-psychopaths to smoke weed and drink for a while after you sell off a bunch of prisoners you've gathered, I guess.
In terms of mods, there's one which removes the AI's ability to magically choose whether people live or die when you down them, I forget what it's called. If you have Call of Cthulhu, Cthulhu allows you to get a psionic brain growth that causes intercranial pressure with melee attacks, which can reduce their consciousness to the point where they get knocked out without actually killing them, although I'm not sure if the AI's murder algorithms can interfere with that anyway. One of the other gods also allows you to imbue your colonists with the gift of psychopathy and cannibalism, so you can convert everyone to psychopathic cannibals given enough human sacrifices, though this might override traits they already have. This could be a good or bad thing.

Siege-esque raiders are twofold
1.) sieges: these raiders come into the map and set up mortars to bombard your base
2.) sappers: these raiders come into the map and use explosives to break holes in your defenses

Last I checked hives can't spawn on animal/colonist sleeping spots, they also can't spawn at temperatures below -18C.
If you play on a map that is constantly below -18C and make plenty of parkas you can use the natural temperature, a heater, and a small room to farm them.
The bugs have a greater temperature range than the hives. By filling the small room almost entirely with animal sleeping spots you can eventually tame a male and female pair by taking downed ones back into the room and patching them up over and over. The tamed ones don't need to be fully intact to breed, don't bother training those, only the offspring.
Thrumbos, Megatherium, Muffalo, Wargs, and Bears will also naturally tolerate that temperature, but for Cobras you'd have to spam sleeping spots and use a heater, or house them outside the mountain. Housing them outside the mountain can be fun, as drop pod ambushes will get rekt by the snake pit. I usually house Wargs, Bears, and Cobras together when housing them outside, keeps them all fed once you have enough wealth to regularly attract pirates, plus the slight injuries they sustain will keep your colonists trained.
I'm gonna build a wall, and I'll make the raiders pay for it.

Allow me tell you the story of my tribe.
We were Nomads for three years. Went accros the whole world.
My people didn't know higher technology. I traded me better weapons and clothes.
Tribes people ambushed us often. We took prisoners and sold them into slavery. After two years we founded an Outpost to organize us and do research. We made our own clothes from the muffalo wool we had.
Now it's the time to found a city. The city will be carved into the rock. It's in this extreme desert. My food will rott away in 10 days but I planted potatoes. I don't know about electricity and refrigeration. I may survive or just starve. There are not enough resources to leave the desert anyway.

about slavetraders - comm device is the only way to go I guess. If you have high enough standing with faction you can ask them to send caravan and choose what kind of caravan you need. Some faction have slavers to choose from.

Multiple bases is cool but it makes the game chug something fierce, and it's hard to split your focus. I think that being able to "standby" a base and have it simulate running without actually running (e.g. abstracting your food yield and consumption from the size of your crop fields, the length of your growing season, etc. to provide an abstract food production that simulates your real production and using the number of colonists compared to the abstract production to decide whether people start starving, instead of actually rendering them growing, hauling, cooking, and eating the food) would be the way forward. You build the base and then when it's self-sustaining you put it into standby and build a new base.
Just add trade routes to let us set up farming bases that feed industry bases and you've made a pretty cool strategy game layer.
Got a cold snap that turned my comfy rainforest base into a winter wonderland.
Snow really isn't as comfy as jungle, I think.

Shooting/melee is basic bitch and does what it says no need for over complication
Social effects relations with colonists and trade which is good to have
Animals has a major role of you plan on making deathhounds, farms, or boomalope traps
Medicine is self explanatory and is needed to survive
Cooking is somewhat lacking but provides mood buffs and less risk of poisoning
Construction is also a primary skill you absolutely need so you don't waste resources and time
Growing ties in with multiple other skills and requires higher levels for higher grade plants for greater rewards
Mining is pretty meh but having a shity skill means more time and less resources and ties in with construction
Artistic is to make people happier and make things look good and ties into trade
Crafting is another skill that ties into allot of other skills and is a primary skill you need
Research... just lets you research faster... I guess it unlocks more tech but anyone can do it and it causes one colonist to sit idle for a day or two doing nothing and then you need the other skills to effectively take advantage of the research.

Dickwolves 2.0 should be coming soon.
All I've done is add some polish and a few new bionics (and stopped them from being able to use human bionics), and some dickwolf-specific apparel (like dickwolf-only super-power-armour), and adjust their thought trees so they don't get butthurt when they see dead bodies. They'll be similar to psychopaths but still able to get the mood boosts from socialising, just not the penalties.
I also buffed their HP into the sky (2.5 times a regular pawn) and made them weigh 170kg instead of just 1kg.

I'm tossing up adding them as a faction. On the one hand, they're so rare as it is (and I like that they're rare) spawning with pirates and tribals that you can play for 4 years and not see one, and having a faction would make them a bit more common. On the other hand, they really don't lore-wise lend themselves to a faction. They're supposed to be rogue supersoldiers who have escaped/deserted from the military and are hiding out on the Rimworlds to avoid being "decommissioned" as failed military equipment who, without the rigid discipline of military life, spiral into drugs and insanity. They're also supposed to be extremely aggressive and hard to live with. How do you make a faction out of that?

Yep. 1.0 is in the OP if you want to play with it right now, but basically it's just a race of dudes who are really good at melee combat (high damage, lots of health) (and who usually spawn with high melee and shooting skills) but who are all drug addicts (usually spawn with some addictions too) and get into social fights all the time.
It's extremely unpolished and the art is shit but it's playable.

I started with 1 bionic arm and now I have 4. Can somebody else test this out in their game and see if it happens to them? Just use devmode and spawn in an implant and install it, and see if you can remove it. The bug is that the surgery completes and a new limb is spawned, but the installed limb doesn't actually get removed.

LMGs and Assault Rifles are top tier, give LMGs to Trigger happy people and everyone else an Assault rifle. If you get more than eight colonists you can afford to start giving out Survival rifles to your best shooters and use them as marksmen.
I like the Survival Rifles more than the Sniper Rifle, since it is faster but still has good range and power but that's just me.

If you want something neat to add, do a hydration system.
Cacti/snow can be harvested for water. Water terrain can be drank from directly. Boil water at a cookstove for purified water.

Anyone else annoyed that Tynan still hasn't implemented an external mod ordering program to his game? It's retarded that I have to wait a few minutes for the game to load, switch the load order, then restart and wait another few minutes to see if my changes had any effect. Also the game crashes all the time when I download a scenario or mod while in-game. The ability to mod this game is great but this is a significant flaw, even Bethesda had enough sense to put this stuff in their launcher and they're retarded.

This is completely false. Planting at 2 will always have a lower priority than hauling at 1. The game goes through the list for priority 1, and then through it again for priority 2, etc.
