The thing that really fucked up League balance was the introduction of season 6 masteries. They are complete garbage balance wise. There was no need for ''keystones''. All keystones did was add to powercreep instead of actual balance. It added a whole new layer of difficulty for balance just for the sake of ''diversity''. I don't really think this game needs that kind of diversity because almost every champion has one optimal keystone anyway. So it doesn't really add diversity just extra balancing issues.

I would really like to see Riot go back to masteries from before season 6 so that it might be a bit more balanced. Maybe go back to season 5 entirely, it was one of the best balanced seasons. Season 6 was a complete shitfest.

6. know when to freeze or push, managing your vawe, and for all what is good and holy deny the enemy's XP you will benefit from it. A LOT. Especially early game. (this is very important).

I mean, you're not wrong. But the issue is that the jungle changes (according to riot) were to promote diversity in the jungle. But if I'm not playing something well within the meta, and I fall behind, it's hard to stay relevant. I had an eve game recently where I failed a gank top, lost my blue and large wolf to the enemy jg, and spent the rest of early game playing catch up. You could argue that because I botched a gank I got punished for it, but it feels pretty harsh man. I'm also just sick of playing Hecarim Zac Vi Reksai and Lee when someone forgets to ban.

Generals principles for all top laners are:

Wave management
Trading
Pressure

For the first sometimes you want to freeze the lane on your side to give access for your jungler to gank or just to deny ganking pressure to their jungle. Sometimes you need to push the lane hard to get tower pressure if you know the enemy jungler is not near you, or if you're ahead or a stronger early champion, you want to bait the jungler to gank and lose pressure elsewhere or even kill them.

The second is very very champion and matchup specific. You're going to want to just learn a couple of champs and their kits/matchups for this one. Never let the enemy laner get free poke on you if you can help it. This does not mean diving through the enemy wave to get an auto in, but if they come auto you then do it right back. If you're scared of fighting then this lane is not for you. Go mid instead. You also need to be very aware of experience differences. If the enemy laner is ahead and has a big powerspike at level 6 then you're going to want to play back and vice versa. Play aggressive when you're nearing that level 6 spike to either force them out of lane, summoners, or life.

The last is again dependent on the game. Sometimes it's better if you focus bot lane for dragons/carry potential. Sometimes it's just better if you keep pounding that top turret. Usual rule of thumb in Solo Queue is that if you're ahead in your lane to just keep pressuring down to the inhib as you give your opponent the chance to come back if you roam. If you're behind don't stick your neck out for 2 CS, play safe even if it means losing a wave or two. Better than dying and losing much more + kill gold/XP.

Team fights and late game are super champion/team comp specific. You should know who the engage on your team is just by looking. And you should know when to peel for your damage and when to dive theirs. This is just basic game knowledge.

Also unlike the adc lane you probably won't kill you enemy laner if you're behind. For instance, they can get a double kill bot but as long as you properly chain your cc they will die. There are multiple ways you can play a 2v2 fight even if 2 kills behind.

But top lane? Most champions when behind in kills can't do anything. So if you die once, don't think you can try and fight them and die again. then die again. and again. It's really annoying to be doing well as ADC when your top laner just can't stop dying because they don't know what playing back is.

As a former ADC main, I'm pretty sure he'll know what I'm talking about.
