I loved that it tried to make environments that looked alien, fitting since it's literally extraterrestrial and something I wish they'd do again. Shadow was too edgy and Colors was too much of a theme park (which was the point so I'm not complaining about it) to take advantage of the alien setting. But I do agree it was a bit too garish due to it being limited by the console.

That's the problem with it, I cant find a game in my collection that seems appealing, I lost all my interest in fighting games I've put so many games in that half way complete but too far in to resume kind of state. I guess if all else fails theres always the local arcade, games there feel more justified for playing because you out money into the machine. I had it there to begin with, but really... every other arc on here lasts years, to have an entire section dedicated to something terrible that lasted only three months leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Like... it was such a non-thing, why even include it as a big milestone in the comic? Every other subtitle shows important differences, from when the comic started to do storylines, to when Eggman showed up and completely derailed the last arc, twice. Ever since 2013, we've been dealing with the looming threat of the planet pretty much exploding. Even though it wasn't the main focus of Unite, the imagery was there, and the planet was in danger of blowing up still, even as Sigma was threatening to do... whatever the hell it was he was doing.

It's filler, and I really don't want to dignify filler with some sort of "milestone" subheading entry.

I think they're full of shit. SA1 was IMHO the best 3D sonic. Most fluid control, best, most innovative, and most freeform level design.

It was 1999, and early days. There were camera problems and some glitchiness. But Sonic Team mad the definitive 3D Sonic and it's effectively been downhill since that first outing. I personally feel that Sonic Team also produce the definitive console MMO in Phastasy Star Online, which the industry has also failed to match.

Ian has plans all the way to 400 I think, so if anything it'll be Sega pulling the plug.
Although, if I remember correctly it's Archie who pay Sega for the use so maybe it'll be them in the end.
But I think they want to keep the longest running comic based on a video game series trophy, so I don't know.
The sales don't look good though. Archie and Sega need to push a big marketing campaign and that's not something Sega seems willing to do.

Sonic Boom - Based on the cartoon. It is a part of the "Worlds Unite" crossover.
Mega Man - Based on Capcom's video game. It had two crossovers with Sonic, one of which served as the finale of the old universe.

There are a couple other non canon stories about Sonic visiting Archie's world or some such. I forget what they're called, though.

Archie is the American series covered in >>165548406 and is the one we talk about the most, as it is still ongoing. Waifus and Ian and all that jazz.

Fleetway is the UK Sonic comic, and it was cancelled around the time Sonic Adventure was released, as it ended on an adaptation of that. Also known as "Sonic the Comic," there's a continuation called "Sonic the Comic Online" out there.

While it has problems, SA1 feels great to play. There has never been a more enjoyable way to control sonic in 3D and the level design reflects and enhances this. Controlling sonic (on the ground at least) is just SMOOTH. Once accelleration kicks in, Sonic literally runs around moving like a wet paintbrush. You draw flowing curves with your footprints and movement is fast with the levels being big enough to accommodate it.

Every later Sonic game lost this idea. Sonic stops and starts, controlling like a paint roller instead of a brush. Movement is less fluid, more prove to jagged changes in direction, or more usually, stopping completely. The feel of momentum is gone and Sonic becomes less concrete to control.

It's just a more fun game to play. I'm eternally disappointed that there were never any mods or fan games based off this playstyle.

Personally, I really didn't like it. First 4 stories were a tedious repetition of the same plot, where they constantly point out "wow, didn't we do this three times before!?" and stuff like that.

The reason I like Colors best out of the Boost Trilogy is because of how scarce the boost actually is.
You don't fill up the gauge with rings, only white wisp capsules, and sometimes when you defeat certain robots. So you had to save your boost for when you really needed it, I think that worked out a lot better.

Sometimes, I really hate the Easter/Western Canon Split that happened in the 90s. I much prefer the Japanese Canon over the Western Canon.

I think they were moving in the right direction with Lost World, specifically the lack of boost and the addition of the parkour element. My big problem with Sonic team is that instead of picking one gameplay style and refining it to perfection, they'll just do a completely new play style in the next game. I think if they go back and really perfect the parkour moves, it could really improve the gameplay. Alternatively, I think the team based style from Sonic heroes would work pretty great if they went back and fine-tuned it.
