I'm assuming that Rank 5 and legend would automatically go between 15 and 10. That way rank 20 wouldn't be infested by them.
Would also prevent people from farming rank 20 for wins and golden portraits. You would need to skip a month of ranking up to 5 to be able to stay between 20 and 15. But that's just my guess. They only said extra stars and this seems to be the most logical thing.

In a way, the epic is worse than egg. Throw down the epic without buff and its an immediate target to prevent the card draw. Egg can be played without a buff if need be, and the opponent will typically ignore it, allowing for a future buff. If they don't, you still get a card and avoid face damage.

Hence the only reason for someone with a power-deck not to go ladder is that they don't care for fair matchups

It's designed to contest the early game like freaking 3/2 Buccaneer (something paladin horribly lacks) without helping aggro decks (so it does very little damage on its own). You got it backwards, it contests said cards. You can just as well complain how OP equality with a weapon is and this terrible combo kills minions in 1 hit. Hitting big minions (5 attack or more) with it is still a horrible idea and will result in eventual death, take control warrior vs midrange hunter matchup for example. You need aldor/keeper/humility to deal with them.

Why don't you make Spirit Claws do that? It's already miles better than Lance and belongs to more aggressive class with plethora of value cards like Maelstrom Portal.

The condition of spirit claws is depending on the shaman player himself and gets rewarded for a combo, while the efficiency of lance is depending on the opponents moves.
For the claws the shaman also has to invest the at least 2 additional mana for something with spell damage on his field and lance benefits the other player spending more mana and gets punished.

If only there were extremely efficient spell damage minions with cycling, oh wait. There is Thalnos AND Azure Drake and shaman hero power sometimes wins the game on spot with 25% roll into SP totem. I've seen less efficient like kobolds and ogre magi run for the sake of it, Astral Claws are that strong. Lance is not even near that powerlevel but it's a necessary card for paladin to survive.

Is it just me or is the aggro vs control matchup fundamentally broken in this game even by hearthstone standards? Aggro vs aggro actually has some interesting board control wars and plays can actually matter, control vs control has resource management and plays can actually matter while control vs aggro comes down to whether or not the control deck draws reno while managing not to die by turn 6 and is 99% dependent on the control players draws.

More cards like divine favor that give aggro a chance to come back and less shit like patches that kill people pre turn 6 would be the right idea, but standard is now fucked beyond repair.

It's worth it. Golden Epic is 400 dust.
Average dust per pack is 400 dust. So you would need to grind 120 wins over the course of 4 days to get that dust. With so many games played you can get to rank 5 relatively easily.

Then drop to 20 and farm if you want more gold.

I finally figured out why I hate aggro: it's simple to play. This means that 99% of people playing an aggro netdeck can play it perfectly. This removes what little skill required for the game out of the equation. This means that you no longer have an advantage as the better player or just smarter person. Now HS is truly an equal opportunity game, as long as you give those dirty jews enough money to build a top tier aggro deck.

You can get to rank 5 with a higher winrate and much faster than 120 matches which is needed for the 400 gold. You have winstreaks which catapult you easily to rank 10 if you're good.
You will need 1, eventually 2 days to get to 5 during the last 2 weeks in the month. So at most you could get 200 gold which is on average 200 dust while grinding rank 20. Much better to go to 5.
