I wouldn't all it fantastic, it's good and fun for what it is, but it's not a masterpiece. He's a shitty director, he relies on crutches like tying characters to dungeons and dropping them after, pacing issues, and copy pasting from his previous games. That's not to say, P5 is the best Persona to date.

the thing with DR is that it's a text and plot-driven game where gameplay is pretty much secondary, I mean if I wanted to play a shooter I'd you know, go play a real fucking FPS. That's why the faults with the story stand out so much. With P5, there are still faults within the story, nothing is perfect, but I can still enjoy the gameplay and fusing and making my best personas.

PTs by a mile, they were basically part time detectives, and had to figure out what their targets Palace were, as well as having to traverse the puzzles in their Palace in the span of a month or so. The IT couldn't find one culprit given a year, and if it weren't for a proffesional detective joking them in the end, most likely wouldn't have. Having a dungeon dedicated to each character is fine. Christ it's a game about exploring the minds of the cast, there's no better way to do this.

Okay, first thing; Naoto did literally nothing that would help them catch either Namatame or Adachi, in fact she almost ruined everything since she was the one who brought up the idea to kill Namatame.
Second, they kinda had literally nothing to work with. It's not even a matter of figuring things out, Namatame left no trace whatsoever and victims couldn't remember a thing. There was nothing they could've done to sped things up.

Kamoshida isn't "oppressing" Anne or Ryuji, he's fucking up people's lives and both Anne and Ryuji are taking a stand for them. Madarame isn't "oppressing" Yusuke - heck, Yusuke's not even aware he's his enemy or the extent of it for the most part. Kaneshiro's a weak antagonist but even the reasoning for Makoto opposing him is sound, given her lawful morals, Futaba's entire arc couldn't be less fitting of that description for blatant reasons, and Haru is taking a stand against Okumura Food's practices, the Fiance stuff is relegated to her co-op for the most part and not to do with the dungeon plot.

Kamoshida's become so infatuated with himself due to constantly being showered with praise and attention that he can't see when he's overstepping personal boundaries or when he's not welcome.
Madarame's an incompetent person who has no interest in trying to improve or find his own talent, and chooses to exploit others to find success.
Okumura's an interesting case - since it's clear he cares about Haru, and there's a conflict there between whether he prioritizes his own business or his daughter, and in the end money gets the better of him.

I did and that's literally what happens, for someone who trusted his sensei so much Yusuke never reconsiders fighting him after his awakening, Ryuji never has a rebellious breakdown during Kamoshidas dungeon, Anne is the only one that actually does something by nearly killing Kamoshida after you beat him, Makoto does jack shit, and Haru at least tries to sympathize with Okumura, they sorta went the right way with Anne and Haru, but the rest sort of just forget the abuse and just try to beat the shadow.

Her conflict with her sister and the entire scenario involving her family history and their history together was interesting too. I feel like a lot of development for Makoto happens vicariously through Sae, which is a nice royalty none of the other characters get.
It feels to me like because Kaneshiro is the weakest antagonist and there isn't much basis for conflict between him and Makoto a lot of people think she has no development, when it's really Sae's Palace where Makoto gets her development and her one has one of the most interesting dynamics of the lot.

You have to remember that half of the fanbase for Persona is pretty tumblr tier unfortunately, so student teacher relationships aren't something they like. And I think they actually do go over this issue in game. They had no way to confirm whether he's the killer other than to wait for the next Midnight Channel to see if there's another victim. It's also why the entire thing took them so long, their investigation was depending entirely on wheather and killer's next move.

It's because her personality is pretty standard compared to what most people were expecting and what the rest of the party is like. It also doesn't hellp that her co-op was more of a filler one than anyone else's but that's probably more because there wasn't much of Makoto's private life left to explore given that Sae and their family are part of the main story.
I found her the most interesting character - maybe after Futaba. I was genuinely getting incredibly engrossed when Sae first finds out Makoto's in the PT, and felt they'd done something real special there with the whole interrogation format.

I dunno. I liked Futaba but she also doesn't seem like the sort of character who most will "waifu". Hifumi's design makes me think she'll be higher up on the list too, and most of /v/ seems to have their hearts set on Sadayo and I doubt that'll change since she's a pretty good waifu in the actual game too. I expect Chihaya to be a little higher than that, since her co-op's decent and she's actually pretty cute. Ichiko might get a sympathy vote, but her design will probably keep her low on the waifu scale.

Am I the only person that likes P4 much more than P5? in P5 the characters get their personas by getting a headache or whatever, while in P4 the characters actually have to face their true selves and it's much more emotional and everything

I just finished the game recently and DESU, I felt like the story kind of fell apart in the end. The big reveal near the end of the game felt very rushed and convoluted. I felt like they tried to explain away too many things with a lot of things that kind of made sense but wasn't all too convincing. It's kind of like Ocean's 11 without a satisfying payoff at the end. There were some unanswered questions and themes that I wished they explored further. Without going too much into detail and spoilers, it felt too much like good guys taking on bad guys, and I thought that it was light on the picareque aspect of it. I thought they story could have more depth if they showed more human side of villains(They do that for one of the main villain, but not so much with the others). I also thought Akechi posed a great counterpoint to MC's position, but that theme didn't really get explored in depth either.
In that respect I felt like P4 was better written and had tighter plot. People give the game a lot of flak for being too light-hearted, but it actually explores pretty deep themes and was really good about showing different sides and not giving easy answers. P5 is darker in tone, but not necessary deeper in that respect, also none of the SL in P5 was really that memorable to me.
