He's what a good antagonist should be: emotionally complex, has a reason for doing what he does, complementary and contrasting to the protagonist, and just as powerful as the protagonist. He puts up quite a good fight considering he's one person against a whole team that includes a magic cat and a child genius hacker. They're not though. There are some somber moments, but they're practically never dead serious.
P5's moments together feel far less forced, they're not generic anime school events like in P4, they're just actual ways friends hang out.
Like when you get back to the real world after Anne awakens to her Persona, and Ryuji goes and buys drinks and you all exchange numbers and just shoot the shit was a far more memorable exchange than most of P4 for me, and there are plenty of moments like it.
Yongenchaya alone was a more comfy town than Inaba as a whole, and Sojiro is far more likeable than Dojima, and the soundtrack in these parts is also much more chilled back and relaxing.
I could go on for fucking hours, but P5 is the only game where I've genuinely felt this level of comfy - and P4 pales in comparison.

P5 overall is too dark and unwelcoming. They nailed the real Tokyo, and the real Tokyo isn't comfy by any means unless you go to the less populated, more countryside-like, places.
And P5's themes overall are much darker. With even the fan's favorite party member killing himself and the protagonist being tortured and jailed.
I'm not saying it isn't better paced, P4's pace sucked, and the change between serious and happy was even painful at times. But P5 isn't mean to be comfy.
Maybe you did feel comfy, but you are the only person I have seen say that. And I never saw the creators sell the game as something comfy either.

Yongenchaya is fucking comfy, and you really can't have played the game if you don't think that. Heck - even the bustling nightlife in places like Shinjuku is a different kind of comfy, but that may not be for everyone. And P5's soundtrack was far more relaxed and comfy to me. Incidentally, P5's actually got a lot of date options overall. Aside from the Hawaii dates (Anne/Makoto/Sadayo/Hifumi), the school festival (Anne/Makoto/Haru/Sadayo), Christmas (any of the girls) and Valentine's (any of the girls), you can take them out on dates any time you hang out with them (there's special locations exclusive to lovers), on top of being able to invite them to your room for an extra event.
It'd be nice if they added more main story couple events (especially for the non-main party girls), but what's there is fine, and having the option to go on dates outside of events is nice.

Fucking this. This is what pissed me off most about P4. Scenes like the school camping trip where the girls make disgusting food, or the swimsuits scene with Chie and Yukiko were so fucking terrible for this and the game was willing to make the cast act like assholes, or ridiculously out of character if it meant they could bend it into a shitty punchline. People go on about the spin-offs of P4 flanderizing the cast, but the original game was every bit as guilty of doing this.

If it were just for the sake of having a murder to solve I'd be okay, but they play up that shit before executions and it just feels like the writer wants to depress people or seem grim without actually writing anything good and just going "lol they die".

To be fair, that doesn't change the fact he wasn't doing it for himself. Ryuji had been through a bunch of shit personally with the track team and such, but he just took it all. It was Shiho's attempted suicide that pushed him over the edge. I'm not saying Ryuji doesn't have a short temper, but his heart is in the right place and he's a pretty damn selfless dude. With Joker in the mix, he only gets better.

Anne and Ryuji aren't being bullied by adults, people close to them are being hurt. Yusuke isn't being bullied by adults, he's being exploited and has been lied to for most of his life and is becoming aware of it. Makoto isn't being bullied by adults, she's trying to take down an adult who is exploiting other people and a blatant criminal, she just has a little motivation with the pictures. Futaba isn't being bullied by adults, she's been lied to by them and is suffering from her own mental issues.
