Started out as a Guardian, want to become a tank at max level. What are the go to crafting disciplines to go first?

I was thinking about Jeweling and Armorsmithing but it seems like they both use the same materials to level up, is there something else that could be a good use for me at max level like cooking?

Armorsmithing, Weaponsmithing and to a lesser extent Artificing are all useful to a guardian. Cooking too, but you can also just buy food instead from the trading post. The three I mentioned are all required to make endgame weapons/armor for a guard and those can't be traded.

No such thing exists. Not outside of raids, anyways. Dungeons don't need a tank. Fractals don't really either. And even if they did there's no real way to grab aggro on a boss and hold it.

And even in raids guardians aren't used as tanks because it's just one more job groups can dump on the group's mesmer(s) that they're taking anyways. Might as well make the class that isn't doing good DPS anyways the tank instead of having a possible DPS role be the tank and have two classes doing minimal DPS at once.

Hey, I remember liking this game. It was one of the few times I actually ended up dressing up my character. And I quite liked the gameplay. Why'd I stop playing again?

Regardless, you can still make practical looks with "high end" equipment thanks to the wardrobe.

There are raids/high level fractals to do on the pve side of things and if you haven't played in a while, a decent amount of skins to grind for.
There has always been a sizeable roleplaying community in the game and it's still there if you look for it.

There's enough there to justify coming back to the game. Personally, I'm burnt out and waiting on a real content update.

Salma is almost always packed after 5pmish. Even then you can find people just hanging around DR at all hours of the day.

Worst case scenario you can probably find what you're looking for through GW2RP'ers or something. Make an ad if necessary.

This game also has a lot more open world RP than I've seen in either WoW or ESO. Many times while leveling a character or just fucking off out in the world have I stumbled across people just RP'ing somewhere. I rarely see that in WoW where RP is largely confined to cities.

Gw2 is very oriented toward hard counter scenarios. If you don't run the meta fotm builds for every class, you will get bodied. You might also get bodied because of cooldown flukes. You might also get bodied or forced to play super passively just due to class matchup.

Precursor crafting is really hit and miss on if it'll save you dosh or not. Anet made no economic considerations when making those precursor recipes, so sometimes a precursor might require "cheep" ingredients, and sometimes it will be expensive. The Chosen (shield) is a good example of where they fucked up hard, as being a shield it's demand (thus price on the TP) is low, but to craft it requires a stupid amount of materials, so you just purchase it off the TP... while other's is no question that you'd craft them yourselves for the lower price.

tl;dr: it entirely depends on which precursor you're making, do some price checking and math.

Crafting is almost always a money pit, except if you do the profitable daily cool down crafting, but even then you aren't going to regain the cost of levelling up your crafting with those daily crafting items anytime soon. Or if you have a mega-low-drop-rate dungeon ring recipe that happens to be useful and you run the dungeon enough (TA for zerker rings is the only one I can think of).

I'd recommend you focus on an armor-making craft above jewelry, though, since jewelry can't really make much exclusive. In fact, there are a ton of NPC vendors who'll sell jewelry which is better than anything crafted at generally reasonable prices.

Sea of Sorrows is good. It gets slow at times and some parts require heavy suspension of disbelief, but the writing is otherwise pretty solid.

Ghosts of Ascalon is ok. Nothing particularly good or bad about it. It has a few fun parts but otherwise it's just kinda there.

Edge of Destiny is pretty meh. I won't go so far as to call it shit but unless you really like the lore I wouldn't waste time reading it.

You can read them in any order and none of their stories are interconnected, but chronologically Sea of Sorrows takes place about 100 years before GW2 starts, Edge of Destiny 5 years, and Ghosts of Ascalon 1 year.
