Damage 3.0: Delusions of Grandeur and What Could Have Been if DE Wasn't Comprised of Incompetent Noncommittal Programmers

D3.0 should be about removing all damage mods without changing the base damage of weapons and overhauling 2 out of 3 IPS types. All damage increasing mods have a higher max value to compensate for the fact that there is no more primary damage and multishot mods while leaving all weapon damage alone (aside from balance tweaks).

In terms of primary weapons, an example layout:
Pure elementals go up to +150% while status elementals max out at +100%.
Basic IPS mods increase damage by up to +200% AND are calculated on total base damage, while rare ones go up to +300%.
The Heavy Caliber corrupted mod is modified to increase base damage by only +50%, but the negative effects are changed to +15% recoil and -12% fire rate, leaving accuracy intact. (net base DPS increase is +32%)
There are now +accuracy mods that usually come mixed with other positive stats.

Slash procs behave the same as before.
Impact procs deal a small percentage of impact damage to the target ignoring armor in addition to the stagger, NOT finisher damage. The amount is small compared to slash but it is instantaneous. If the target has no armor (remaining) then a "winded" status is also applied to the enemy where their movement is slowed like the Cold proc but not as strong, affected by status duration.
Puncture procs place a stackable +10% total damage bonus to any damage received after armor reduction is applied, no limit to stack beyond how many can be applied within the duration of the first (each proc has their own duration). This is the opposite of what it currently does and is also the inverse of the idea behind the Corrosive proc. Not as powerful at countering armor but more versatile.

By making all IPS procs related to damaging enemies it normalizes their worth versus the currently almighty slash damage.

Finally all armor scaling is tweaked to be a decelerating curve.

100% status build weapons tend not to deal much damage in the first place. +10% incoming damage after armor reduces it from a popgun isn't much, but it does greatly reward people for using weapons that require you to expose yourself for extended periods of time as well as for plain old teamwork.

While I respect your opinion, even if the damage system isn't changed there are still many shitter trap mods that have no place in the current system. The piss poor +status mods that increase it by a fraction of what a status elemental would do is one type, Damage versus Faction mods is another, hell the bronze IPS mods qualify as well, and some other stuff that may have slipped my mind.

I have one friend that I introduced into the game who had an immense problem with just the Venus -> Earth area because he used a bunch of these mods. I have since helped him double or even triple his DPS by advising him on the correct mods to use.

4 or 5 mods which are really needed because the only way to increase base damage now is by Heavy Caliber. Those proposed larger values for the other mods won't scale up as high I think. Also crit weapons will have an even larger gulf in damage output after the crit multiplication, plus they do get more space to squeeze in both crit and some status at the same time. It should even out... mostly.

Some weapons like the Tigris Prime are already way overkill by pure damage alone so the 100% status is just a cherry on top.

Now the main problem are weapons which have no real status nor crit chance to speak of. Those are going to need serious tweaks outside of mods.
