What games? The Boom games? Eggman has never acted like this in any game, except Colors. He is played completely straight (not SA2/06 straight, but still competent) in every game, even the other 2 Pontaff games.

I don't think Eggman by himself is a bad villain, but he'd be much better if they took him more seriously. I don't mean to the extent of being super edgy or whatever, but to the extent where Sonic has an actual threat to overcome.

Sonic is supposed to represent freedom and life (no fuck off Sparky I'm not talking about Embodiment of Chaos shit) so they should play up Eggman being his opposite in representing excessive order. He builds robots because they're mindless automatons who follow his orders without hesitation, and he wants to rule the world to impose his form of order with him in charge. That isn't that much of a change from his base character, but it seems the games don't really follow that route.

Now that I think about it, maybe I'm letting Boom influence me too much. It's been several years since I've watched any non Boom characters do anything, and even before that, the last games I played were Colors and Generations (which was bare as fuck).

Still, I don't know, he annoys me and I can't take him seriously. I don't remember any examples right now, but I always find that people applaud things of him that I find negative. I guess I'm no fun.

Sonic the Hedgehog is the Embodiment of Chaos, the Fastest Thing Alive, Knight of the Wind, and he loves Nature and Freedom. With a hero like this, the perfect villain is someone who has the Master Plan to perfectly account for and counteract that unpredictable nature of chaos. Someone who knows how to stop a speedster in his tracks and hit moving targets. Someone who pollutes and destroys nature, and wants to take away everyone's freedom. That someone is a mad scientist with an abnormally high IQ. A mad scientist who wants to take over the world, build his empire and convert everything into a mechical wasteland with all living things transformed into robotic slaves with no free will, and polluting nature in the process. That someone is Doctor Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik.

Eggman is the perfect villain for Sonic. Yes, Eggman is comical, a buffoon, a manchild, and massively narcissistic and egotistical, but one thing that he isn't is a joke. Eggman is a serious threat, and Sonic knows this. Sonic may laugh at Eggman and insult him with full confidence, but Sonic does take Eggman seriously as a threat to the world. Sonic just believes in himself and knows he can defeat Eggman, cause Sonic has a ton of self confidence and likes to have fun all the time, treating everything like an adventure.

To me, at least he sounded like a genuine boy, if given a proper voice direction. It's not as grating as his Heroes voice acting. However, his current voice is way better and I'm glad they settled with that one.

Non-classic Sonic Games you think would make a good classic style game.

As much as Lost world wanted to recapture that Classic Sonic feel I think it'd be a good match for a classic sonic game. The biggest complaints about that game are the substandard controls, the fact that it doesn't explain anything about the world, and the angsty story, which a classic game would either fix or make a non-issue.
