I gaveup on Sword when this expansion hit. I used to love playing Control Sword in DE. Alexander is literally my favorite card in this game. But the new expansion added bullshit like Albert that kills any of the fun of playing the class. They also just keep adding a bunch of removal spells which is making Sword feel less and less unique and more and more like the other classes. I don't even know why you'd play them at this point over Forest or Shadow.

I keep insight and search for boostable followers since it is easier to get boosters. Daria can be kept but you shouldn't actively look for her since the chance is pretty damn low as well. I'm not sure how I feel about keeping Superman, but I will do so if I get him alongside Ogler/Daria because I'm a greedy fuck.

Midrange's gameplan is Otomeme into Sage Commander, and using Alwida and storm to close the game.

Control's gameplan is running your opponent out of your resources, and warding up against aggro. Or switching into full aggro mode against Seraph, D.Shift, and PtP.

Midrange was the previous king of brain dead decks, because there were very few efficient ways of dealing with Otohime in the game. Now, it's been rendered shit, because there's too much removal, and going face with Albert yields better results.

After playing quite a few games against every class I came to realize just how flexible the deck actually is, and that Sahaquiel would be the most broken leggo in the game if there were more Neutral minions like Lucifer. Even with just the one Lucifer and Gilgamesh it has been performing outstandingly well. Pulling fucking Unica has been helpful in a lot of games as well. Also, you never play Bahamut unless you have either Sahaquiel + Gilgamesh/Lucifer or a board clear to follow up. I learned that the hard way.

Anyway, mid-range Sword will try to apply pressure and gain tempo from turn 1 until they finally get value off of Sage commander to seal the game or by using storm to finish their opponents off after chipping them due to early board pressure and tempo.
Unlike people that don't play Sword believe, mid-range fell off because Daria is everywhere, and the deck can not keep up with her, since she shits even more followers than Sword, and Otohime ins't fast enough on that match-up, it puts the deck into a not so very good spot right now. AoE ins't the main problem here.
Meanwhile control tries to survive the early turns and make valuable trades/plays, so that they can stabilize with wards and then finish the game off by attrition or Albert, since the value ins't located on tokens and they pack up more removal, they can retain some of the good match-ups from mid-range without getting completely fucked by Daria.

You cannot convince me D.Shift players are human. Every subhuman piece of shit that plays the deck does the lethal as delayed as possible just to force their opponent to sit throughout the entire thing. Every single one of them. They have all 3 D.Shifts in hand at 0, but still won't show that they have lethal, and will do every cute little time wasting move they can think of.

It's a shame because I really like Beast Dominator, Erasmus, and Pluto. I wish they had at least made Pluto and Beast Dominator into hero portraits.

In general I'm disappointed in the lack of portraits. I don't get why they aren't pumping those out every month or two. I feel like it would be so much easy money and I'd love to buy say a Bloody Mary portrait or a Cudgel portrait.

That's the point. The idea was that these weren't supposed to completely replace those cards, but offer other options. Basically they made cards better than the previous in almost every situation, but had the cost go up slightly for the rare situation where those cards may have had use.

It is to avoid being called powercreep even though that's exactly what it is.

There's a lot of opinions on how to do it properly, but here's mine. It's pretty straightforward; play defensively and abuse your draw power to make sure you have Nep in hand by turn 8, and then roll faces when Nep heals you, kills at least one if not two enemy followers, and summons Mordecai. You also have a chance to draw a card and summon a Lich, and while that's nice, your main focus is Khawy+Mordecai, which is why you're only running 4 different follower costs, so Nep gets both of them 100% of the time.

I was a fan of this deck for awhile >>164811376

But have since moved to a more midrange style deck with Nep/Mord tossed in. Yes, the Attendants fuck up your Nep, but the deck doesnt brick as hard as the 4 different follower cost decks do. The extra ability to control the board from Attendants and Necroassassins means you probably arnt desperate for a Khawy heal when T8 comes around and Nep is a finisher that can put up to 18/18 worth of stats on the board. The more I play it the more I believe that this is the proper way to play Nep decks, intentionally gimping your deck to build completely around an 8 drop that doesnt instantly win you the game just isnt worth it.

What are you trying to mulligan for? I toss anything that's 4 or more back to maximize my odds of getting my 2-drop followers and ideally also Soul Conversion and/or an Impious to drop on turn 3. As long as you have your first couple of turns in hand, you can easily draw into what you need for the rest of the game later. It also helps you reliably get your 6 shadows by turn 6 for Breath or Tempest.

Keeping things like Nep or Khawy will absolutely make you brick though, you don't have any draw power in your opening hand so you're entirely at the mercy of topdecks. It's still entirely possible to brick if you mulligan away, say, 6pp/7pp/8pp and get back the same costs or higher, but really, every deck that runs 8-9 cards above 5 has this issue, and plenty of them work well enough, e.g. Seraph.

Basically, focus very very hard on your early game during redraw so you don't die too soon.

Yes, so your roll is always Mordecai+Khawy+Urd/Unleasher+Dingdong/Skullcradle/Corpse. It really helps to have that consistency, otherwise you can end up throwing Nep and just losing because you don't get what you needed to stay in the game.

At least personally, I don't feel like the deck is gimped by skipping out on more followers. The only one I occasionally wish I had would be Spartoi Soldier for the sake of another early ward, but that's really not worth losing out on Mordecai on 20% of my Nep plays. If you're not going to get guaranteed results from Nep anyway, you might as well take advantage of Cerberus, since you're already scrapping consistent Nep plays and trying to go for a more aggressive midgame. That's just my 2 cents though, I'm not sure how much that would actually help or hurt you since I really wouldn't go for a list like this to begin with. I'm just way too hooked on removing Nep's RNG, especially after winning so many mirror matches where the enemy Nep whiffed tremendously while mine was consistent.
