The guides info on the Wheel is all kinds of wrong. They don't even have a table for its tricked moveset.

It's likely that FromSoft didn't give them any info at all about weapon mechanics and they had to figure it out. Those values were the work of several people testing the fuck out of the wheel post-release.

Pretty much this. Wheel is the biggest fuck-up, but they get plenty of other things wrong. E.G., Boomhammer is listed as having different multipliers for its blunt and fire damage, when it actually has a single multiplier for both damage types, it's just that the multipliers themselves change when you prime it. Also threaded cane's tricked R1s are listed as having higher than its untricked R1s, when this is not actually the case. The tricked R1s actually have a lower multiplier than the untricked R1s, but when you trick the cane, it gets a bonus to its Skill scaling. Thus, on a skill build, cane's tricked form will hit harder than its untricked form, while on an Arcane build, the tricked form will deal less damage than the untricked form.

fwiw, that skill scaling bonus also applies to viscerals, making a tricked threaded cane the best weapon in the game for viscerals.

I don't know anything about Hotdog's Fire defense, but 9949 seems like a silly number to choose. Maybe it is a typo maybe it isn't. It's also impossible to test bosses defense values because bosses with multiple damage zones (EG Amy's legs or Rom's face) have Damage Reduction as well as defense. I'm pretty sure hotdog takes more damage to the face, so his legs might have armour similar to players in addition to defense.

And yes, sharp gems would improve viscerals, but for math reason I don't want to go into right now, sharp gems are literally incapable of ever adding as much damage as a tempering gem of equal rating. It used to be the same for Heavy/Cold gems, until they got buffed.

Sorry, I figured it was worth asking you since not many people get very involved in the numbers of the game. You can test boss defenses though; since hitzones apply after the defense formula, and the damage formula isn't a simple multiplier, you would be able to tell with multiple tests the different values between them. God damn magic in BB is so much more satisfying than magic in any Souls game.

When you kill Amalia and go into the forest for the first time, teleport back to the grand cathedral. Run left. There'll be two NPC fights, and some doors you can knock on, which give you a key item. With that key item, let the blue spark hit you. It teleports you to a different area. In the grand cathedral area it takes you to the hunter's nightmare, while outside of the cathedral ward where you're at, it takes you to the DLC area.

Yes, you have a few NPC fights (and the NPC hunters in this game are almost harder than a lot of the bosses) and not to spoil anything but you'll get a choice at the end of the game, if you pick "refuse" you'll get to experience one of the best boss fights in any Miyazaki game.
There's also one hunter boss in the DLC if you have it.

A gem always drops and Eye runes have no baring on the quality or effect of the gem, nor do they make off-shapes happen more often.

However eye runes do greatly increase the droprate of Chunks, so if you need more upgrade materials you might as well do while farming gems at the same time.

Each chalice (Pthuneru, Hintertomb, Loran, Isz) basically has a global loot pool, and all mobs and bosses in that dungeon drop those effects unless overridden by an enemy specific loot pool. For example Beast Possesed Soul drops any effect common to whatever dungeon he is in, but Undead Giants ALWAYS drop adept gems.

Secondary effects follow the same principle, enemies drop secondary effects based on area unless it's overridden. For example Amy will have secondary effects based on whether it's found in Loran or Isz (or defiled Pthumeru), but Brainsuckers drop flat arcane secondary no matter the dungeon.

Shape follows the same principle, Radial in Pthujeru, Waning in Loran, Triangle in Isz and Hintertomb. Unless overridden by enemy specific drop. EG shotgun watchers/BSB drop circle BLT gems or roaming Beast Possesed Souls always drop triangle, or Hemwicj Witchs always dropping waning.

Rites don't affect gem types. Cursed makes all gems cursed, Foetid makes certain enemies drop stronger gems (doesn't change effect, just rating) and Rotted spawns new enemies that often drop unique gems, but has no effect on other gems. Cursed is the important one, some people say FR increases gem quality but I don't know that's true.
