XIV Cid Mission was fairly easy.
Had Magic Shout from Papalymo, which made him and Thancred's ninja magic hit really hard. Onion Knight BSB RW to add additional damage, and Yda used Fires Within to exploit fire weakness and damage during flying phase.
Minfilia used draw fire and sat there like the useless bitch she is.

Don't be retarded with SB related RMs is all I can say.

No one needs a debuff SSB to hit turn 1 and then you've given up 30-40% damage for the rest of the fight and need to slowbuild back to using it again.

No one wants to see you wrath up to an OSB use and then hit "big time" one turn when people using real skills with damage RMs have outdamaged you on a turn-by-turn basis and still have a full SB bar at the end of it to use.

Very very rarely is there a reason to equip an instant charge materia if its not literally a major buff like Wall, ATK/MAG or something that involves Hastega.

Very rarely is it worthwhile to equip charge ones like Ace Striker over damage you could be doing the entire fight by simply building a strong character who can be further enhanced by their SB instead of an SB gimmick. If it's a really really good SSB (not BSB) that you want to see often because of its effects like buffs/debuffs then go for the charge.

Most people just bring +1 SB gauge RMs for their Soul Break effects, like Shout / Vessel of Fate. Otherwise, Ace Striker / Battleforged is also an ok choice for healers, and stuff like Truthseeker (+30%? damage when equipping a sword) is also good.

With accessories, prioritize survival over stat boosting, because other players can usually do that for you with OK / Ramza. Bring elemental / debuff resists as needed (armlets from Nightmares, Memento Ring / Safety Bit), etc. Your best characters are your best healers and the best DPS you can bring that exploits a weakness or capitalizes on a mechanic (ie Refia's EnFire for Aiatar, or Gilg BSB for Drawtaliate vs. D200 Gilg).

I ended up using Zidane BSB early for commands to help with breakdowns during Gil 200 a few times. Helped out a lot when getting stuck with pubs who had the actual abilities unused for a good part of the battle.

Yeah that's a good example of making a judgment call there. Zidane BSB is a decent candidate for instant charge since it implies an Imperil for everyone to take advantage of and provides you good debuff commands (rather than being damage focussed) for the fight, plus just the bonus of being in burst mode, essentially. Especially a good example of making that call because Imperiling Wind early on that fight makes a lot of sense since many will be packing wind to damage Enkidu.

Is there a point to these sealed door "dungeons" other than the weapons? Like is there some big super boss? Ive completed like 3 of them in no particular order. Is SS2 even worth using when I have Y'shtola's burst? I keep bringing wrath and trying to manage both but its like why even bother. Should I full dive Minfilia? Pulled both her BSB and SSB, plus she seems to have a great amount of damage + Utility. Concern is that XIV characters tend to get shafted in terms of relic releases, which means she could be quickly powercreeped out than if I dived someone like Firion, Lightning or Bartz (each with BSBs).

Assuming my party (or some of it) is around half HP by turn 2 (pretty standard for U++ stuff) I can either use SS2 and help mitigate/maybe let people survive (if they get focused they still die more likely than not) or I can just heal everyone to full HP and give them a 2500 shield) and give Y'shtola burst and its commands (100% everyone lives and the shield usually lasts at least 1, if not 2 turns)

Ysh starts with SB and goes Wall into Pro/Shell. Your Entruster goes Wrath x2 -> Entrust to Ysh for the option to BSB.

The Entruster then wraths up again to entrust your biggest SB dps.

This gives you:
- wall
- asylum
- pro/shell
- high dps

the alternative is to go double whm with one of them being offensive (vanille bsb for me and using cmd 1 for good damage)
