Some moves give +frames on block, so because the enemy has to deal with the block-stun you get X amount of frames to try and squeeze something in.

Off the top of my head assuming I'm not talking out my ass.

Alex's F-HP Lariat is +6 on block, so he can squeeze in a s.MP while the enemy is blocking, normally a move that's 5 frames. So while they are reacting to the blocked Lariat if they press buttons they get bopped by his MP because he has the advantage in frames.

So when you make someone block your move, you're both stuck without being able to do anything for a while. They're stuck in blockstun, and you're stuck in the recovery of your move. A move being advantaged on block means that their blockstun ends later than your recovery does. A +2 on block move means that, if they block that move, you'll have 2 extra frames to act before they can.

So in that example, alex's f.hp is +3 on block; normally, if you pressed alex's st.mp, which is 6f startup, at the same time the opponent pressed a jab, 3f or 4f startup, you would lose, because their jab becomes active first. But since you recovered faster, your st.mp would be effectively starting up 3 frames in advance, and you would win.

There is no widely used distinction like that. A combo is a combo, you might call it a punish combo if the only thing you needed to "confirm" was that your opponent whiffed a hugely negative move. A hit confirmed combo is one where you landed a hit without knowing for sure it was going to land and managed to convert that hit into a combo instead of stopping there or doing a safe finisher (AKA a blockstring).

Example 1: someone whiffs a DP in front of you and you do a punish combo starting with a crush counter.
Example 2: you mash jab and by the second jab you confirm that the opponent is in fact getting hit and you should finish in something more damaging instead of going for a safe finisher or dropping the string entirely to reset the situation.

i've been lurking this general for about a week now and i have yet to see someone post anything positive about any of the games that would qualify for discussion here.

/v/ and /vg/ suck at fighting games.

I called GGXrd kusoge and I 10-0'd everyone in /asg/. You know why I can do that? Because I learned FUNDAMENTALS from street fighter. I know neutral game because of Street Fighter, something anime games and other hipster kusoge don't have.

People on /v/ shitpost all day and don't actually play fighting games. Every single faggot in this thread that says "SFV sucks" has never been to an arcade or to any locals. They're scrubs who are just in it for the flashy anime graphics instead of the gameplay.

The best part is, their games will continue to be dead while SF remains competitive, both in tournaments, in arcades and just in general. No matter how many fedoras are tipped, how many buzzwords are thrown, the fact is SF shits on any of your games. And that's that.

Ingrid has close to nothing in common with Karin. The SFV redesign for Karin drew insipration from some aspects of her, but that's really all there is to it. Not only that, but we've seen heavy redesigns of characters when put into SFV already, regardless of how iconic with characters like Ibuki and Juri. This means even if we go by that single criteria, your argument doesn't hold up.
