Medieval 2, Rome 2, Attila, Warhammer, Shogun 2 and Fall of the Samurai (for guns) are the games to go to based on what era you like. So if you like ancient rome go for Rome 2.

King and the Warlord & The Grim and the Grave are usually the top rated packs, and I'd recommend them either way.

Chaos is really "eh" but adds an interesting impending threat in campaign ala Fable that can swing the campaign wildly, then if you fancy playing as welves or beastmen grab em.

Just remember as well, "Mods will fix it" is like CAs unofficial slogan, so check out the workshop if you find shit lack luster, if not, refund.

Firstly its just generally easier to pick up and play with a very smooth UI and interface, Rome 2 is a bit more clunky in areas. The AI is also far more aggressive against each other, so the world map changes a lot more than in R2 where things are fairly static and you're more likely to see factions continuously ganging up on you.

Plus it has far better troop and faction variety, not Warhammer tier good, but better than R2 at least.

But both are so cheap, you should just get both and see what you like more.

Then you'll have no problems, while every faction plays differently their economy is pretty straight forward to understand and you can go on and enjoy Warhammer, the battles, heroes & diplomacy without worrying to much about the empire management, but it's still fun and important but a lot more forgiving than other TW games.

There are plenty of guides & articles around that give a quick overview of how the faction plays, once you've got that the rest is open to you.

Is there any way to actually put up a fight against the dorfs as Grimgor early game? There is no AP ability on the Greenskins until much later. I can't even get to the point where I can field Big 'Uns before I have two dorf clans running amuck in my land. This is BS man. And they never take peace offers because they can shit out stacks on Hard so the balance of power always favors them.

Dwarves are broken early game against any greenskin tribe and the AI tends to do well as them since they are stupidly easy to play as because all their units are tanks. Even their archers last too long in melee. Get squigs and skulkers. That is really all you can do early on.

apologies for the incoming blog, but this was my craziest campaign ever, and my first VH/H and i'm very excited and proud

The cunt elves STILL wont take peace, so I think Franz is going to come on over and help burn it down.

I'd have to give a shoutout to the Silver Bullets ROR, in that battle they got like 300 kills, got in a really good position on the field and were constantly braining routing units so they'd stay fucked off,

At a glance, how am I doing so far? Turn 95.

The power of the Greenskins seems to be growing, and I'm harassing the Dwarves as much as I can to impede their growth so the Greenskins can take them out. I even have a fucking peace treaty with Belegar, lol.

The Empire seems to be struggling somewhat, I can see their border towns cloe to my own having a fuckload of negative public order, so I'm harassing them to stymie their progress.

No idea how I will go about controlling 20 fucking provinces. Getting corruption up takes a shitload of time.

When you start out you can make like 5k a turn. Most level 1 buildings cost 600-800.
Then you start your first crusade and most of your armies are free. You should be making like 10-15k here.
Also sometimes you have to go back and get mercenaries out of your cities and replace them with free garrison units.

You arent expanding fast enough. Other than that you should worry about chaos maybe trying to fuck with you. If much of the chaos threat has passed start putting pressure on the empire really fast before they ball out of control and crush you. If chaos is still a thing but not focused on you, undermine the Empire. Greenskins shouldnt be a problem for you till late in the game if they take over the southern part of the map (they rarely do). If your really lucky the Elves will have been crushed. If your unlucky the elves will start fucking up the Empire and you might need their help to shut down the neets.

I think they'll come soon, it's turn 60+. I've gotten walls up in my lands and a few turns away from Steam tanks so I'm doing ok. Confederated Wissenland and Marienburg, waiting to get Middenland. Turns out fighting rebellions is good XP.

It's annoying to kill Khazrak or Grimgor in an epic duel to the death between lords amidst the epic fiery toil of battle, then to kill them again five turns later in a simple massed missile volley.

this is a feature new to Rome 2 (and it's kinda shit)

There's no forced march, use ships to travel large distances quickly, or build cavalry only armies. The movement buff skill is the most important for your generals. Fortunately the map is small enough that Forced March and its cancer isn't required

To ambush, put your armies in a forest part of the map. The lord will kneel down if you've done it correctly. Japan has lots of choke points, and most of them have trees next to them allowing you to set up an ambush

I honestly don't think so no, however, if you want archers in your army than Savage arrer boyz are much better IMO. They are also good at defending themselves since they are basically the same unit as savage orcs but with a boy as well as a choppa.

Also, I think Wurrzag's charge bonus thing applies to all savage orcs in your faction, not just the ones in Wurrzag's army.

Yes, it's a decent game. It's not a worthy successor of Rome Total War, but you'll have fun. Don't forget to download some mods to make the experience better, just search in the Workshop. I like the one where it's 4 turns per year and that also doubles the research and build times (for example, tier 3 and 4 take 20 turns to build).

One of the things I really don't like is that the AI seems to, in most cases, go directly for your center instead of trying to spread the troops more. Unless they're trying to emulate Bonaparte, it just doesn't make sense. Theyr cavalry is always countered by the player, so why do they still focus on only one spot?
