Sengoku did a much better job of showing you japan than VI did showing you Zeth. I seriously feel at home in japan and feel like I know the country and the people in it really well after Sengoku. But even though you dungeon crawl directly in the location of Zeth I don't really feel like I know the country that well. There really wasn't shown much of it and its people although it's much bigger and way more important than japan. In that sense I think the game did a poor job of showing me the world of Rance and the lore while 7 did an outstanding job of giving me the lore of the land, the story, the country and the characters.

I think the easiest to check is if you can learn certain skills. White destruction beam for magicians and special unique sword arts for sword fighters. But I don't even know if this level stuff is known to the characters at all or if it's just something for the players.
